I wrote a script that I want to pitch to the creators of Megamind rules so they'll finally hire me on the writing team. I am not on the show's writing team. Megamind: The Musical Dilemma INT. METRO MAN'S HIDEOUT - DAY MEGAMIND enters the hideout, looking around. METRO MAN is sitting on a couch, strumming a guitar, but clearly struggling with it. It's not that bad, but he struggles to make new tunes because of his emotional state. He's lost his confidence in being Music man due to his past choices. MEGAMIND (Confused) "Why did you have stage fright? You were so good at going on stage before..." METRO MAN pauses, placing the guitar down. He looks thoughtful, then sighs deeply. METRO MAN (With a heavy heart) "One, everyone thinks I'm dead. How would they have thought of a hero abandoning saving lives for a passion for music? It's music, not saving millions... That's more important." MEGAMIND (Perplexed) "But you're a natural on stage..." METRO MAN (Interrupting, bitterly) "Two, I... Suck. I sucked. The one song I came up with, only dogs could hear. Dogs can listen to it, but... Their owners... They wouldn't know that. They won't pay money for a song they can't share with their pooch. Dogs hate that pitch, anyway. I feel like I can't play the guitar, anymore, either. It... I feel like I'm bad at it. I feel like I Always have been. I also know that I can't sing. Like, yeah, there's some talent with the guitar, but my singing is trash. That's why." MEGAMIND (Softly, understanding) "You were confident you could be a hero, but you're not confident that you can... Make music." METRO MAN nods, looking away. I don't mind metro man having stage fright as music man, if they leaned into the concept that he's being more emotionally vulnerable and true to himself when he shows his music to the world, but based on how the show treats him as "the dumb one" I doubt that was the point. Also he's way too introspective about his own choices to be the dumb one.
2023 has Velma (which someone really wanted to murder the scooby doo franchise). 2024... Lets destroy the Megamind franchise and make it as bad as Velma 2025... Whats next?
On one hand, dreamwork movies getting shows that breaks the lore (The Penguins of Madagascar for example, or that puss and boots show) isn’t anything out of the ordinary. But the difference is they can be enjoyed on their and not promoted as “the canon sequel”. I don’t think meganind rules would have been as hated if it wasn’t promoted as a sequel and just a spin-off (that was better written) and wasn’t such a cult classic.
I feel like those two shows can get away with breaking the lore a bit better because those are spin-offs of side characters instead of the main ones, so the audience doesn't even need to recall the source material too much and can enjoy the shows on their own. Meanwhile, the movie-length pilot had to recap the original movie at the beginning, which makes it more obvious when they contradict said original

I absolutely hate the scene where Megamind has to save Roxanne after turning evil and throwing her off a building. It reminds me too much of Hal/Titan throwing Roxanne around after he got his powers. I think Megamind and Roxanne are a really cute couple in the movie, and while the whole show bungled their romance, that scene in particular makes me so mad, lol. Did the writers see their own movie or what?

Why Metro Man had Stage Fright in Megamind Rules... Possibly. The writers gave him stage fright in an episode for some reason. I think it's because he has no skill in music. He's terrible at it. He loves rock, but it's awful how he plays the guitar. I'll state the other reasons below. I mean, he has some skill, but the singing was off. Metro Man's stage fright stems from his lack of musical talent. Despite his love for rock, he's terrible at playing the guitar. While Metro Man has always been confident on stage, the switch from heroic public speaking to music performance has shaken him. As a superhero, he excelled in saving lives and captivating audiences with his charisma and cunning. His confidence was built on years of successfully protecting people and delivering inspiring speeches. However, music requires a different set of skills and a lot of practice. Second, no body knows Music Man is Metro Man. So he can just keep saying he is a different person and know one will know(the citizens are in this show are clearly dumb as a brick with letting themselves be stupidly vulnerable like laying in the street because Machiavillain was the hero). Finally, third, once again, Metro Man doesn't think his music is very bad, so the thought of terrible public reaction wouldn't enter his mind, and if it did, it wouldn't be as significant as it supposedly is in the show, even though NONE of this stuff is implied to be the reason he has stage fright.

The writers gave him stage fright in an episode for some reason.
I think it's because he has no skill in music. He's terrible at it. He loves rock, but it's awful how he plays the guitar. I'll state the other reasons below. I mean, he has some skill, but the singing was off.

@@MeoKidoToonswhich doesn't make sense because first, Metro Man doesn't think this music is bad as evident in the first movie and had no problem singing in front of Megamind and Roxanne, and wasn't implied to have felt that way afterwards.
Second, no body knows Music Man is Metro Man. So he can just keep saying he is a different person and know one will know(the citizens are in this show are clearly dumb as a brick with letting themselves be stupidly vulnerable like laying in the street because Machiavillain was the hero).
Finally, third, once again, Metro Man doesn't think his music is very bad, so the thought of terrible public reaction wouldn't enter his mind, and if it did, it wouldn't be as significant as it supposedly is in the show, even though NONE of this stuff is implied to be the reason he has stage fright.

I am HEAVILY convinced that Megamind vs the Doom Syndicate and Megamind Rules were supposed to be the start of a brand-new and original IP, but Megamind was attached last minute for brand recognition and nostalgia-bait or Peacock saw how powerful spite-viewing is from Santa Inc, Cleopatra, and Velma . I also would not be surprised if this suffered from a toxic workplace environment similar to Kung Fu Panda 4.
