Chester is a fun villain, but i really don't like how he just "happened" to not be mentioned in the first movie but was apparently Flints inspiration for being a scientist
It would be better if Flint didn't know them but was interested in Chester being a "better" scientist than him, I think that could work still without it being out of no where. Also I really prefer the mom being the inspiration
Yeahhhh agreed- in my mind his mom should've been his main inspiration, and Chester V just be one of many scientists he admired especially due to his food bar after growing up in Swallow Falls. Have him be like "I had many scientists I researched all about as a kid, old and new and chester v is a modern day scientist I admire." That or have Chester show up at swallow falls like normal at the beginning of 2 after the events of 1, and flint be confused till he is told stuff about LiveCorp and he gets naively fascinated
Tbf, there was a concept for a scientist Flint idolized in an early draft of the first movie who’s name was “Vance LaFleur”, including a whole storyboarded scene where Flint sends him a letter. When I first learned about Chester V being part of the sequel I was surprised they didn’t fully re-use the scrapped concept!

i remember there being a planned third Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie which never came into development after a decade later, until Phil Lord revealed it to someone from a fan on Twitter that there was a script finished prior to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, titled "Planet of the Grapes" spoofing the Planet of the Apes franchise which is why CWACOM3 was never greenlit in the first place, i wish that a third film will come to fruition soon after Beyond the Spider Verse is finally released Lord and Miller have never completed a trilogy like this before and there was instead a Cartoon Network series that lasted for 2 seasons
21:04 OH MY GOSH. I can’t express how much I love Earl. You don’t get characters like him anymore, who are allowed to be masculine and portrayed in a good way
This film is what made me fall in love with the works of Phil Lord and Chris Miller as their works are most likely affectionate parodies of existing properties. They also push the boundaries of animation which I respect.
Honestly, I really liked the second one, maybe not as much as the first but I’ve seen a lot of people don’t like it. Idk just it has a lot of charm with the foods coming to life n stuff.
ya, it also kind of explains why flint and stuff was seen as odd and no one paid his inventions any mind as it was probably do to E.V.I.L making a smear campaign on "smart" people so they would join them kind of like a cult or mlm praying on desperate people who just want a community
I don't mind the sequel, I found it fun. And I'm actually glad they revealed Chester super early. Twist villains are hard to do and we've seen how bad they were handled by Disney. The writers might have felt they'd be able to utilize him more and better tell the story if the audience could know he was a villain. They also probably felt like they would better execute him if the audience knew - and I agree because when the characters find out he's evil, it would have felt so forced and cheap if that was also when we did.
Ok but the way flint actively chose not to humiliate sam on camera and ate the ice cream instead 😭❤️ it’s so cute and so good of him (bar is clearly incredibly low)

You know what’s cool? The short scene of Flint digging his feet into the pavement as he’s being whipped around by his invention rocketing around town like crazy established how those shoes are unbelievably hard, way harder than cement, which leads to how Flint managed to destroy the invention by spraying the base of the thing. I love it when small gags set up towards pivotal moments in the film

3:20 I have cleithrophobia and those shoes terrify me.
I had the book as a baby boy, and I liked the movie. Never saw the sequel, tho.
I loved this movie as a kid and I still love it so much! So well made and honestly more complex than you'd expect.
When I was young I wanted to be flint and be like him lmaoo!! Bcuz I thought he was cool! Great video though! Loved the video essay:)
Bro i love these movies so much and im glad to see them getting attention!! Also i qoute "THERES A LEAK IN THE BOAT! AHHHHHH!" on a daily basis with my family :) im super happy to see this movie get attention :D also during the part with the lego movie, i was thinking as i saw it, "HOWDY FOLKS IM A STOOL SIT ON ME! no, no emit, stools dont speak."

@@Awesomemay Yooo no way I hope you have a good day awesomemay!
Chester had the best hand animation of any villain ever made.
Cloudy With A Chance Meatballs really one of those movie who is the most masterpiece of ALL times in history besides Spider Verse Awesomemay.
ok
both were amazing, My childish self aprooves, the dad was amazing and funny, my mom aprooves too, the eyebrows joke is her favorite
Flint Lockwood is literally me
3:06 If I remember correctly, a lot of the same people who worked on the art for Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls worked on this movie's visuals.
The Spot = Flint Lockwood
Jeff Morales = The Cop
Miles Morales = The Cops' Son
If flint makes bagels fall out of the sky and it hits his head, we know what's gonna happen
There was always a reason this was my favourite movie when I was younger. It was just so funny, no matter how many times you watched it. (And believe me, I watched it MANY times.)
