The original film began production in 2002 and was supposed to be released in December 2003. However, the creator deleted the original files of the film because he didn’t think it was good enough. This resulted in the movie being delayed for a decade due to the film’s budget being blown by constantly trying to achieve perfection with the film (ie making it motion capture). i grew up in a jewish household, and every year during hannukah during my childhood, we would watch eight crazy nights. i remember being kinda surprised when i first saw people bringing it up as one of the worst animated movies. its absolutely VERY cringe and hard to watch at quite a few parts (i mean, it IS adam sandler), but its far from being the worst out there, and im glad you ranked it the way you did :) the animation is delightful, and the scene in the mall with all the mascots coming to life always had a really strong impression on me even as a little kid
I find it funny that I wasn't introduced to Eight Crazy Nights until my adolescence, let alone any mainstream Chanukah-related movie. We had a bunch of obscure Jewish holiday educational films, alongside various Disney movies. And the most Adam Sandler I saw as a kid was Bedtime Stories, and yet I also saw Spaceballs and Galaxy Quest at a young age.
Sharktale and Hoodwinked are my core childhood movies, my sister & I watched Sharktale _alot_ and I/we still love it. Its more of a hood classic, there's a loud half that hates it, but we're chillin in the minority that like it lmao. Good video !
I was really not expecting Escape From Planet Earth to be here so that was a neat surprise, because I felt like I was the only person who watched or knew of this movie growing up. The Owl City song within the movie is probably why I have remembered it for so long though LOL
I think the biggest thing that screwed over Norm of the north is how it was in THEATRES and being touted around as if it was on par with a dreamworks movie. I feel like people would have been a little less harsh on it if it had been a direct to DVD/TV special movie since those often don't have a lot of production value in them but generally look and feel the same as NOTN did. If it had aired on Cartoon network or Nickelodeon as a Christmas season movie instead of in theatres and having the gall to sell tickets it would have very likely had less of a cold reception as it did.
I remember watching Norm of the North when it came out and it didn’t even feel like a real movie to me. The only thing I remember about it is him dancing for like the whole movie 💀
Foodfight's issues and budget are so ridiculous when you take into account that the original film was stolen...like legitimately heisted by robbers so they had to make it again.
You were so brave to admit that some of these movies _weren't_ forged in the fires of hell. I related so hard to the "ig i'm not as picky about movies"
I’ve never seen it, but I will say that the biggest problem with “Playmobil: The Movie” is that the concept of the movie being Playmobil is completely meaningless. Like, look at “The LEGO Movie”, not only is it about LEGO’s, but it’s also the whole point of the story. Like there’s the concept of being a master builder and the villain wanting to super glue everything. The movie wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t about LEGO’s. But for Playmobil on the other hand, you could just make it a regular animated movie and nothing would change.
Seeing Escape from Planet Earth pop up felt like whiplash. I legitimately forgot that I willingly watched this movie. I don't remember if I saw it in theaters or streaming or something, but i for sure CHOSE to watch it as a kid. I didn’t remember a single thing about it tho, until you started explaining the plot
5:10 actually there was no cannibalism in The Menu, for some reason the marketing team decided to make it seem like that’s what was going to happen, even though it never once did. Ironically for once a marketing team doesn’t spoil the ending of the movie, but instead makes things up on the spot.
I watched the Artic Dogs one with my grandma. I wanted to hate it, but at the end of these "terrible movies" she puts on for me and my sister, she says the most wholesome "That was a GOOD movie." And it makes me just love it. EDIT: Wow he actually mentioned grandmas picking this movie to put on.
My family watched Shark Tale all the time growing up. My parents thought it was so funny when my shy quiet little girl self would quote the “I’m not a nobody, I’m a weinerrrrr” that they would get me to say it to other people when we had visitors or something. Wild. I also thought the fish girls were pretty tbh 💀
Even if it's not on here, I speak in defense of Cars 2. It's a decent film which gets it's flaws blown out of proportion. I really enjoy it, and I often wonder why people cite it as one of the worst films ever made when this video alone proves that worse movies exist.
Probably because it’s a more well known “bad movie”, like your average Joe probably won’t know about food fight, norm of the north or arctic dogs but they’ll know about cars, so cars 2 is probably the worst that they know of
as someone who had some play moblie stuff THEY WERE fun to play with and me and brother loved the movie. We had the RV one and we played with ALL THE TIME
Regarding the high amount of writers: usually it means rewrites. You start with an idea by one person. Studio hires two writers to flesh it out. Then, they hire more to rewrite it. Frequently the credits with differenciate between story and screenplay, thats why. A lot of times it's because the studio buys a dark screenplay and have it rewriten to a kids movie, like Sharkslayer, the original title for Shark Tale. Also, when writers are seperated by "and" and "&", it means different things. "&" means they wrote together, "and" is a rewriter.
54:05 Not from Antarctica, from the Arctic. Those are two different places, Polar Bears are from the Arctic while Penguins are from the Antarctic. The Arctic is at the North Pole while the Antarctic is at the South Pole.
I’m pretty sure the reason Food Fight looks so bad is because the original movie got stolen and they had to start from scratch so close to release. The original movie they animated probably looked closer to 2010 quality. Then it gets stolen basically months away from release and they have to essentially animate an entire movie in less than a year. I don’t know if just the animation got stolen or the whole movie. So who knows what was actually planned and what was made on the spot. I really hope the whole human cat-girl dating the literal dog was made in a week and not part of the original vision.
Hoodwinked is also technically one of the first independent CGI animated films. So while you were correct the animation looked a step down, it was because they were on a whole different, lower level than the rest of the AAA CGI movies, and yet I felt they still knocked it out of the park.
i swear the playmobil opening sequence just got like 5 audio clips of anya and then just played them randomly, I swear some of them even cut off the others in ways that wouldn't be humanly possible, which just gives "5 year old splicing audio together in garage band" vibes
The Menu movie isn't about people eating people lmao but I guess it makes sense if you look it on surface level and expect cannibalism but I wanna say that movie is good though
YO I ALSO LOVE SING. So many things I love internet finds out bad, and here I am, loving Sing more than Zootopia, disliking Coco very much and singing DreamWorks Trolls songs with my whole heart. Every one I know find Merida and Bolt a good movie, and the reviews are so low I had to rewatch the movies and I still don't understand why internet hates them. And so on, and so on. I learn to be careful with negative opinions bc hurting someone's feelings about their fav movie is just cruel
I’ve always loved Hoodwinked. I watched it for the first time when I was like, seven or eight and thought it was super creative with the plot twists and characters. It wasn’t until I rewatched it recently that I realized just how crappy the animation actually was though lmao
3:41 one thing I personally didn’t like about the Playmobil movie was that, dispite how hated on Playmobil ACTUALLY IS (which surprised me, because I love Lego AND Playmobil and grew up with both), there was a very obscure, very GOOD (imo) Playmobil tv show, called “Super 4”. Nobody seems to remember it, and you can’t find full episodes anywhere anymore (atleast I can’t) but I’ve gone back and looked at clips of it, and from my perspective, it’s not the greatest kids show on the planet, but it holds up.
I watched Arctic Dogs on Disney Channel last year and didn't think it was as bad as everyone says it is and probably the hottest take ever is that I enjoyed it more than Frozen 2. For me it's a guilty pleasure because I find its atmosphere relaxing and I like the character designs especially PB and Swifty and I appreciate its anti-global warming stance without being as embarrassing as Norm of the North in my opinion and this is coming from someone who loves polar bears. Also I give the film credit for being the first animated film that I'm aware of to have an arctic fox as a protagonist and I wish there were more animated films that did that as someone who loves foxes as well. I think the reason it turned out the way it did is because of the executive meddling of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios who had no experience with animated films and you know the phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth" which applies to the amount of writers.
Daniel Radcliffe was in the Lost City with Sandra and Channing and he just KILLS his role! He was one of the best parts in the movie besides Sandra since I love that actress. Hey I'd seen one of your videos
Hoodwinked's animation and style make me wanna pull out a controller and start playing
(Also me and my friends love to meme on the monster family duology (you heard me right, duology))
I love Hoodwinked sooo much. Sure the animation is pretty bad but it has an incredible voice cast, great songs and it's funny
i grew up in a jewish household, and every year during hannukah during my childhood, we would watch eight crazy nights. i remember being kinda surprised when i first saw people bringing it up as one of the worst animated movies. its absolutely VERY cringe and hard to watch at quite a few parts (i mean, it IS adam sandler), but its far from being the worst out there, and im glad you ranked it the way you did :) the animation is delightful, and the scene in the mall with all the mascots coming to life always had a really strong impression on me even as a little kid

You’re still effectively claiming first though…
You’re super late 😀

How old would a little kid be?😊
Sharktale and Hoodwinked are my core childhood movies, my sister & I watched Sharktale _alot_ and I/we still love it. Its more of a hood classic, there's a loud half that hates it, but we're chillin in the minority that like it lmao. Good video !
To Be Honest I LOVED "ESCAPE PLANET EARTH!" I loved that movie. I still do. I NEED like a SHOW or a SECOND MOVIE!
Ok
Yeah I loved Escape from Planet Earth
I was really not expecting Escape From Planet Earth to be here so that was a neat surprise, because I felt like I was the only person who watched or knew of this movie growing up. The Owl City song within the movie is probably why I have remembered it for so long though LOL
despite its bad ratings i still love that movie at my grown age lmao
I watched nut job when I was younger, I found it pretty entertaining though I don't remember it looking so bad
Tbh I thought that abt Toy Story one but it looks kinda bad compared to the new ones
I literally don't care if they're bad. My nostalgia takes over anything.
Why do you think I hate Lionsgate so much?
I want to point out that Shark Tale is so old, it got its own release on VHS.
my grandma actually has a copy and i'm pretty sure it's still sealed 😭
Yeah! My second grade teacher played the tape for me and my class before the end of the school year
Seeing Escape from Planet Earth pop up felt like whiplash. I legitimately forgot that I willingly watched this movie. I don't remember if I saw it in theaters or streaming or something, but i for sure CHOSE to watch it as a kid. I didn’t remember a single thing about it tho, until you started explaining the plot
Wow, one hour of a great video! Awesomemay, you really are an awesome RUclipsr!! ~
5:10 actually there was no cannibalism in The Menu, for some reason the marketing team decided to make it seem like that’s what was going to happen, even though it never once did. Ironically for once a marketing team doesn’t spoil the ending of the movie, but instead makes things up on the spot.
that makes sense haha i totally assumed the plot was cannabalism my bad!
Probably because it’s a more well known “bad movie”, like your average Joe probably won’t know about food fight, norm of the north or arctic dogs but they’ll know about cars, so cars 2 is probably the worst that they know of
Yeah, if I wanted to mention a Pixar film as terrible, it’d be The Good Dinosaur.
Lightyear is Pixar's worst movie.
I liked Cars 2, it's a pastiche but way more fun than Cars
@@Josue_S_6411Lightyear is an excellent movie wtf are you on
as someone who had some play moblie stuff THEY WERE fun to play with and me and brother loved the movie. We had the RV one and we played with ALL THE TIME
Imagine being handed a script and it literally says “squirrel dances to gangan style”
The ice age franchise is a PENTALOGY cause there's five movies. Trilogy is a word that describes three movies.
Actually no cannibalism happens in The Menu Surprisingly
Hoodwinked is also technically one of the first independent CGI animated films. So while you were correct the animation looked a step down, it was because they were on a whole different, lower level than the rest of the AAA CGI movies, and yet I felt they still knocked it out of the park.
Wow, a 1 hour awesomemay video? Crazy!
I just had a ancient hidden memory unlocked about the Nut Job end credits scene-
i swear the playmobil opening sequence just got like 5 audio clips of anya and then just played them randomly, I swear some of them even cut off the others in ways that wouldn't be humanly possible, which just gives "5 year old splicing audio together in garage band" vibes
Ice age is not a trilogy, it is a quintilogy not counting the horrendous Disney+ "movie".
1:45 SHARK TALE IS HATED!???!!
The Menu movie isn't about people eating people lmao but I guess it makes sense if you look it on surface level and expect cannibalism but I wanna say that movie is good though
47:55 The moment you said "dark planet" I immediately thought... it's Earth, isn't it?

We need to see awesomemays own movie or series
3:41 one thing I personally didn’t like about the Playmobil movie was that, dispite how hated on Playmobil ACTUALLY IS (which surprised me, because I love Lego AND Playmobil and grew up with both), there was a very obscure, very GOOD (imo) Playmobil tv show, called “Super 4”. Nobody seems to remember it, and you can’t find full episodes anywhere anymore (atleast I can’t) but I’ve gone back and looked at clips of it, and from my perspective, it’s not the greatest kids show on the planet, but it holds up.
I remember it.
@ NICE! 👍🏾👍🏾🫡
i'm gonna watch this while i pluck 10000 flowers out of the ground in my animal crossing island
that sounds like a night well made.
@@Awesomemay ye
16:18 I feel like the bare backgrounds make sense cause the fish need room to swim around in!
Better than Frozen 2? Not exactly the highest bar out there (is actually really low)
I didn't say it was better just that I enjoyed it more@@TunaBear64Also I love your profile pic btw
@@samfeldstein4498 Still a low bar, like, who actually enjoys Frozen 2, besides 7-year old girls.

Daniel Radcliffe was in the Lost City with Sandra and Channing and he just KILLS his role! He was one of the best parts in the movie besides Sandra since I love that actress.
One thing tho, I used to watch Ice Age back when it came out and enjoyed it all including the sequels(not the Disney+ version, that was just awful), but I never NEVER knew Jack Black was in Ice Age until now.
I saw Arctic Dogs in theaters when it released, and I actually really liked it. It was funny, the plot was ACTUALLY THERE, and it had Hawkeye. Freak yes to Hawkeye.
Escape from Planet Earth is such an iconic childhood movie of mine

Nutjob was UNDERRATED! I am not ashamed that I unironically enjoy it. What do you mean the animation is ugly? It’s objectively better than every movie you previously listed except for Playmobil. It’s at the very least on the same level of animation as Over the Hedge.
