I like that everyone who ever held a walkie talkie in a movie is on the call.
I miss Nick Nolte almost destroying the radio with his voice in The Thin Red Line.
Villain from SPEED is missing
They should have added the guys with CGI walkie from E.T. lol

This is the greatest performance of Tom Cruises career.
No.
HIs role in Magnolia should have won him the Oscar that year, and is one of the greatest acting performances I've ever seen.
Michael Caine won for Cider House Rules, and not a single fuck was given that day.
@@josephshmoe1647 yeah Magnolia is the one
I laugh every time I remember an interview in which Ben Stiller said Tom Cruise's demand to take the role was that he had to have huge hands.
I laugh Everytime
It's said that this was Tom's impression of Harvey Weinstein.
Les Grossman is phenomenal. I wish I saw him more, but I think the fact that he had a small role made it even better.
thats exactly why it was good

If they made a movie starring him, it would do very well
@@j.p.f.4007 i think i'd prefer him be like stan lee. just be part of a lot of movies
@@j.p.f.4007 I don't think so. This is what I like to call the "side-character fallacy". It's when a beloved supporting character gets made the main character and the over-exposure lessens their charm and we tire of the shtick.
You can tell Cruise was just given the green light to do whatever he wanted to with the character.
Is Lex Grossman clear? 😲
Matthew looks like he's "being surprised" at the ad lib, so I think you're right. Matt's reactions are legendary.
@@BillCollins0707 I don't think its ad libbed by definition. Tom Cruise created the character, everything he says is IN THE SCRIPT.....
@@montemccarty6512 whose Lex Grossman, you mean les? Yes hes clear, so we are able to see that green light.
He created the character......of course he was given the green light but not right away.
They wanted him to be just Tom Cruise and no fat suit, but Cruise was adamant about there being a studio exec being in the movie to keep the director on task. And what is the more famous movie Exec, Harvey Weinstein maybe? So he was literally acting like Weinstein. Its apparently cool to act like a bigot but actually being a bigot isn't ok? do you see the double standards you are presenting?
That radio is powerful enough to send signals to 1955
Isn't that the plot of the movie Frequency?
tyro244 Yup, but I don’t remember what year they reached in that movie
Great Scott!
They're using different types of radios though, the most common one is Kenwood programmable or amateur 2 way radios

It is like not whatsoever underrated. I think of all performances so far in film industry, the love he received for this is phenomenally unanimous by all walks of life.

Take time to appreciate that the audio changes for each scene realistically haha. A lot of time went into this.

Tom Cruise deserved an Oscar for this performance.
"Shoulda got Oscar."
Facts
I mean just to have been nominated
But Heath took it.
He deserves an Oscar like Leonardo DiCaprio deserved one for The Revenant. hint, he shouldn't have gotten one for that movie, almost every movie but the Revenant. So what you are saying is that Tom Cruise deserved an oscar for basically a cameo where he pretends to be Harvey Weinstein. No wonder why criminals don't get the jail time they deserve, people like you glorify him and his sexual harassment
You are way to easily impressed and think the biggest awards should go to anyone except those who actually can act. No wonder the whole industry is corrupt and heavily involved in human trafficking and child molestation. You give them free passes by saying stupid things like this

Its good because it was a fcking cameo not a full character.......but you probably see him as one of the main stars...
This was brilliantly put together. Amazingly well done.
It's funny just thinking of how Cruise yelled at his own crew like this days ago.

Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but he's an awesome actor.
The crazier they are IRL, the better they tend to be in their roles. I guess it comes with the territory cause I agree, every single "Crazy" one you can think of, they're all the most talented/most interesting. They're not my friends, I don't care what they're like in real life, the product they put out is consistently excellent and that's about the extent of my relationship with them LOL

In my eyes he can do no better role then this cameo. Mostly because of him being a chitty person and a horrible husband/father. The guy is insane and the only time I think hes good, is when he isn't doing his type cast characters.

I want to thank the team that spent hours editing this together! A+. Especially the sound A++ Top notch
sctvfan1313 shut uuuuuup
The best part (imo) was how they manipulated the lines to sound like it was distorted from coming through the walki. some of the dialog they used wasn't from the "flaming dragon" scene. Amazing and Funny AF!
look up filters in music. Most digital equalizers or filters will have a setting to make things sound like they're through a telephone or a radio. The simple explanation is telephones and radios emphasis certain frequencies and cut other frequencies, so a filter or equalizer matching that will make anything sound like it's through a phone or a radio.

The brilliance of Tom of being able to play a silly role serious enough to make you believe the actor is the character and yet not too serious that the character breaks the tone of the film and the audience disconnects.
It's like workin with Mercury. It's high science man. You an artist.
you guys are way too easily impressed. Hes basically acting like Harvey Weinstein. is that really so special? Hey, I can act like a rapo insane drug addict too but Ill just get arrested. You only get paid for it and worshiped like a god if you work in Hollywood.

this is pure gold!
I need Grossman's lines so i can play them next time i get a call to reduce my credit card debt.
This is probably the only time Tom Cruise has played a character other than Tom Cruise and he totally killed it.
Took me two times watching the movie to realize it was Tom Cruise. Still it took reading his name in the credits and going back to see it again lol. That was a unbelievable acting and makeup job. The whole movie was excellent.
I think you have bad attention span, anyone should have been able to tell it was Tom cruise on the first view, unless they have no idea who Tom Cruise is....
I'd like to know why we haven't gotten a Les Grossman stand alone film yet. People have been asking for one since Tropic Thunder, so come on Hollywood, give it up.
Tom Cruise is way too much of a "machine" as a brand as an actor to ever let that happen, they're so focused on giving him A+ leading roles in drama films that are only guilty of maybe leaning too much into the "action" category from time to time, but for him to do a little funny/comedic bit cameo role like this that leads to like maybe 15 minutes total of screen time (and a shorter shoot schedule as well) is more reasonable and in fact works as part of the joke. And as much as I know it sounds like a Les Grossman movie would sound here on paper in the RUclips comments' section, do you really think a movie that focused only on Les Grossman would actually work in a feature length format? Just asking, cause I think the character works best in short focused bursts as a side character to an ensemble versus trying to craft an entire two-hour plus feature film about him. I would love a Tropic Thunder 2 with Les Grossman returning in some capacity though. Everyone else, too. Absolutely.
@@voteZDLR yes it could work, as long as someone like Adam McKay is directing it. Maybe even Ben Stiller again 🤔 but it could work with the right script and cameo's.
@@GranPuba It would need a stellar script. I am not saying it's impossible but I can't think of anything remotely interesting that would work without feeling hokey or contrived. A rags to riches story? Boring. A coming of age story? Boring. I'll let you bring up some ideas, cause frankly like I said there aren't many. The script is everything, it wouldn't matter if they got Ron Howard or Martin Scorsese to direct it if it invariably turns out to be Deadpool 2 in the end. No there's other great sequel ideas for Tropic Thunder but to do a movie with Grossman as the primary character wouldn't work, I'll give you a chance to correct me with your brilliant Grossman storyboard though. Even if they had the necessary cameos return to support the idea, the character of Les Grossman is best used as an ancillary character, as one part to the bigger whole vs trying to take the same character and make him the main character all of a sudden. I just don't see it happening. Again though if we ever get Tropic Thunder 2, bet that he'll be in that.
Fat suits are hot and uncomfortable. I doubt he's eager to sign up to wear one all day for weeks.
@@voteZDLR He eventually has to get out of action movies,he's proven that he can be a great dramatic actor,he should make some dramas and comedies too.
But the real reason Les Grossman movie didn't happen is probably Harvey Weinstein. He was probably too offened by the character and prevented the movie from getting made.
This was genius 😂 all the expressions on actors faces from different movies 😳

The beauty of today is that whether it's CASP or CRISPR gene editing or LSI warp drives, the supporting technology is far more advanced & is advancing faster than before.

In that movie the dramatic actors out funnied the comic actors by a wide margin Robert Downey jr and Tom Cruise and Nick Nolte stole the show .
that's because they got the joke.
In the best written comedies, the dramatic actors usually outperform the rest of the cast. Look at Airplane.
