If you took a second to use your brain and think about who would have had these weapons readily available just lying around, and , where the word black operation exists, this wouldnt require critical thinking!
Oh, yes, thats the ATF , because they are so good at running black operations and intelligence in other countries and they have a budget bigger than most countries GDP. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Those were some wild times.
I use to do seismic exploration for the big oil companies back then.
We flew into a handful of countries in central America & south America.
There were all kinds of people & groups floating around in different places. Vets from Vietnam were running around training and teaching the "contras". You never knew Who you might be talking too in a bar. There were "John Deere, tractor salesmen running around selling "farming equipment". Exciting times. We once boarded a non-stop flight from Bogata to Houston. Half way through the flight, we were told to buckle up our seat belts and prepare for a unscheduled non emergency landing. We were warned it would be a steep approach and that we would only be on the ground for 20 minutes and that no one was getting off. We had landed in Managua Nicaragua. The airport was surrounded by APC & tanks with infantry positions laid in.
A line of limousine pulled onto the runway next to the plane.
The door to the plane was opened and a man stepped into the plane. He had a Panama hat on and a nice tropical shirt with a safari vest. Nothing else. He showed his ID to the stewardess and she motioned him into the plane. The seat next to me was empty. He sat there. He was a "tractor salesman". When I asked him why in the hell had we landed here, and what the hell was going on? He told me that the Nicaraguan government was falling apart. The people in the limos were the ministers of finance, agriculture, health, government etc etc.
They were getting out! They were taking lots of money out with them.
He said it was a real circus!
He asked if I was former military, I said yes. He asked if I would share a drink with him as he did not like to drink alone and he surely needed a drink.
He had a good size alligator hide covered hip flask in his vest. He got up and talked to the stewardess. We soon had glasses with ice and a couple of cokes. We toasted fallen governments & absent comrades. He said it was a historic occasion. We were laughing as the plane took off. I think that was in October or November of 1978.
    Crazy times.

My Grandfather was asked to oversee that airport during the time these events were happening. Sadly, he passed recently so I can't ask for clarification, and I don't recall his title exactly. It has been some time since he told me the story (mid 90's?), so my recollection will be a bit vague, but... He was doing some type of comptroller work for Mena when asked to oversee the airport by a judge. Damned if I recall why it was a judge asking him, but I'm fairly sure it was due to how small Mena was (still is) and most folks were dual hat members of local government and community. Anyways, he asked why, since they had someone in charge of the airport. He was simply told, "Watch and tell me what you think." He then recalled to me that he had answered a few calls over the last few months for voluntary fire dept when they needed to access the fire roads through some of the mountains on his property and it had been due to reports of transponders going dead suddenly over that portion of his property. This event had happened several times and always in the same area. Once he was required to oversee the airport, he would be informed directly about the transponder incident instead of finding out second hand via the fire department and was required to verify comings and goings of craft at the airport during that time frame. He went to the airport only 2 times, attempting to see what was going on and saw a small plane with several men around it, but would be stopped by someone local that he knew (that worked at one of the businesses/shops that were housed there) and told that it was under control, and it was just a malfunction. He said he was required to verify the aircraft but was physically and forcefully denied anywhere near the area. For some reason he waited until the second time this happened and reported back to the judge that he had no desire to continue the job and that something did not feel right about it. Stating that he was not sure what was going on, but he was positive that it was something that would get him hurt or worse. The judge said he understood and thanked him, telling him it was fine and he was not expected to put any more time into it. it was... I think he said a few weeks later? When Barry Seal was arrested. He told me that that was the only time he ever felt unsafe in Mena, and he couldn't explain why, until news of the arrest. He never gave any specific details about what transpired that made him feel so uneasy. Just that he was positive he was lucky to be around to recount the story.

Knew he was walking out of there a free man and they thought he was just talking...until he walked out of there.
