I love how in the first clip, Tom takes out the other guy who is evidently broader and taller, but when Tom puts his uniform on, it's a perfect fit 😂
These aren't Reacher movies, these are Mission Impossible movies where Ethan Hunt is traveling incognito under the name "Jack Reacher".

I don't care. I enjoyed both Cruise's Reacher movies.
Cruise is the better actor, but Richardson is physically more believable.
The only problem I had with the Reacher books was that he was too big. The times when he was put upon by some guys, who in real life, would have walked away from a huge guy like Reacher from the books. I thought that worked for Tom in the films because he wasn't a giant, so the bad guys thought they wouldn't have much of a problem with him.

But in the books, it's rarely just one guy. It's three, four, or more. The numbers always seemed to boost their confidence.

Everyone hypes Alan Ritchson as a better Reacher. After rewatching these, Tommy did an excellent job as well, in a different way.
Tom Cruise actually acts in his movies, but Ritchson is about the most wooden actor on TV.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 : Ritchson's schtick actually works well for Reacher, but yeah...Tom is leaps and bounds a better actor. If they could put Tom's persona in Alan's body, then you'd have the perfect Reacher.
Alan Ritchson is 100 times better than the little, overrated and mentally ill Cruise.

They each have a different take on him, and I actually like both. Cruise has the manic crazy mentality and Ritchson has the physique and stoic personality. Apples and oranges.
He is such a wonderful actor that I forgot about the physical description of the book s. He makes the character his own.
He used that spinning elbow in the first Jack Reacher too - works in mma all the time. I hope there's Reacher #3 with Cruise.
Read all the books...more satisfying.

Not too difficult. Cruise is reportedly 5'7" and most sites list Smulders as being 5'8".
Watch 'A Few Good Men' ...and Demi Moore's reaction to Tom. He had a catwalk to increase his height. 😊
I love it in movies when people who get punched always get knocked out immediately. In real life that hardly ever happens. Of course, Tom Cruise can also hang off of jet planes as they take off and can also parachute off of dirt bikes as he rides them off a cliff and then lands on a moving train, so it must be real.
I mean, he actually did parachute off a dirt bike he rode off a cliff, several times actually...

If you are not a fighter in a fight, you go down fast because most people cannot take a hit. But even season fighter can get one shot. It all depends on angles and force.

That not entirely true. I have seen fight scenes where the fighters get hit so many times with fists baseball bats or crowbars but are still going strong when they should be dead.
The Sheriff got to revisit an old acquaintance in the Big House - Bubba. Who knew those two would end up joined at the hip ? I guess those fools just love love.

He was a good 5'2, built, but not shredded, but put him next to any big guy you can think of and he'll knock his ass out before you could blink, and my dad would know, he was one of them.
So this shit is more than believable.

That's an odd statement, considering one of the few guys who bested Reacher in the books was 4'11".
I've enjoyed many of Cruise's films but Ritchson's Reacher blows the movie Reacher away!

The working title for the movie was Reacher Round 2, but for obvious reasons they scrapped it.

Cruise is a better actor than Ritchson. But honestly its not that vital to be an academy award winning actor. Ritchson fits the part better, and I dont believe it when 5’6” Tom Cruise beats up 10 guys. But Ritchson absolutely destroys guys, and its believable that he could do that. He’d play a great Batman. Alan Ritchson is a better Reacher.

Maybe you're not old enough to remember Bruce Lee movies. I don't recall anyone saying how unbelieveable his fights against endless hordes were.
By the way, both Lee and Cruise were/are 5'7".
Another "short" guy is Chuck Norris, at 5'8".
Americans have the weirdest obsession with height, it's unbelievable. They use it as a measure for everything, for some crazy reason.
Cruise played the part very well, but if you’ve read the Reacher novels, Ritchson is a much more accurate portrayal of the character.
But the script of that show us garbage. The little 125 girls beat up bikers 3 times their size and avoid automatic weapons fire without messing their hair or showing the least signs of stress. It’s like a silly 79s tv show where good guys only ever get shot in the shoulder and bad guys drop like flies. Completely unbelievable. I bever even finished it. Too bad because it could have been great.
What I liked was that they didn’t try to fake how big he was (or wasn’t). The other guy was ok but not a very good actor.
Love how the alarm in this clip just sounds like someone sitting there in a high pitched voice going "OWOOOOOOOOOOOWOO..........OWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWOO." instead of a normal alarm
This was a good movie. Great action.
The two movies with TC were pure class. Not saying that that the Amazon series is not good but not at the same level
Cruise's films were good entertainment. Amazon's stuff is pure Reacher.
"Pure" Reacher would have left Neagley white, and Dixon black. But PC had to prevail.

Both he and Alan play this character perfectly. But Alan is closer to the Reacher in the novels.

having seen only the movies and youtube clips of the tv show, and having not read the books, i think cruise is more believable than the tv guy, and here's why: the tv clips often show some guy(s) challenging reacher to a fight. personally, i'd hestiate to challenge someone that big and obviously strong to a fight. the smaller cruise is a more likely target that a typical tough guy would confidently go after.

I doubt if Tom Cruise would go for it, but if he did, CGI plus other technology in special effects (like AI deep fakes) can give you a Tom Cruise that would fit the description of Reacher in the books. Look what special effects did for Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy, and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk.
Personally, I like the way both Alan Ritchson and Tom Cruise portray Jack Reacher.
I think they both did a good job playing Reacher. I never read the books, either, so I have a different take on the movies / show.

The movies are great. I saw them before I got to read a Reacher novel. Lee Child puts a lot of emphasis on Reacher's size. Tom Cruise is not that guy. Alan Ritchson is.

When a cop says roll your heavily tinted window down, and you don't, it creates what a copy would see as an extremely dangerous situation for them. The cops could be easily killed through those tinted windows, which literally is like a blind fold on them. That was a stupid way to get yourself killed.

Actually Lee was quite happy with Tom's performances but the box office didn't make much profit on JR2, which is why they moved away from the films to the TV series. Money stopped a 3rd Cruise Reacher film not the author. Try again.
