I worked in the film industry in camera for 24 yrs. We (the camera crew) became so jaded over time, but when a guy like Bill came on a show it would be so refreshing. They'd always act like they shouldn't be there, like somebody made a mistake and they'd spend the whole day making the crew laugh. I love seeing people like Bill succeed.

I'm a 75-year-old lady and believe it or not, I just discovered Bill Hader 2 weeks ago. Let's face it, I'm not exactly his target audience demographic, so it's not surprising that I would not know him like my daughter (who's Bill's age) does. But I was so charmed by a video including Bill that fell into my lap that I've been binge watching every YT video I can find with Bill in it. His impressions/comedy are so impressive and he's become my go-to when I'm having a tough day. Wow, what an incredibly gifted talent!
Hader's impressions are so uncanny -- he just becomes the person, and he switches them on and off so effortlessly. And his laughter is always adorably contagious.
He puts in the work to get the little nuances that really sell a good impression, like he doesn't just say "Deh's a bamb in derr," at the end his "there" sounds more like "deauUhhre," like 4-5 extra sounds to trail it, I would never think to do that

Yes, definitely the Golden Age of Late Night TV, from Letterman in the '80's Conan in the '90's all through the middle part of the last decade (plus Craig Ferguson and others) up till they all left in the middle of the last decade. Since late night TV went infantile, I don't even know anyone who watches any of these shows. I don't even know what demographic these shows even play to.
Try using a calculator, lots of us find him boring. I'm one of many people who used to watch him on SNL but now feels like 'I would swear he was funny at one time, but maybe I'm wrong about that'. Some people are in love with him but there's no need to mistake that for him being universally beloved. He's like a funny high school kid... like, ok, that's nice, you won the hometown talent show in 2005. Funny little self-conscious faces and voices, good for you. SNL is very good at making the audience confused as to whether they think somebody is actually funny or just so cute that you'll watch them brush their teeth and laugh about it.
Comedians are known to be some of the best talk show guests. They have gags and anecdotes for almost any topic and if not they’re usually good at ad-libbing due to their quick wittedness. Plus unlike some actors/musicians/writers they rarely take themselves too seriously so can laugh at themselves which makes the host look good.
You are right. Also I have not heard that "mark my words" phrase in a long time except when I say a variation of it often. My dad always said "write it down in you're daybook" he had a ton of those.
That's a tough one, because there are so many great buddy cop comedies out there. And I can't think of the one that has Bill Hader starring in it. For all his talent.

And then I'm sitting here also cracking up, especially at that "Ahnold in front of the closing doors" slo-mo re-creation. Hader is off on his own pedestal. I don't know anyone else right now with his combination of talent, humility and genuinely friendly energy.
I have a feeling a lot of these appearances were scripted, meaning that Hader had a couple of stories he intended to tell, and Dave's job was to set them up with an occasionally one liner to help things along. Dave did this extremely well, but the best part about it was the way he always made it seem like he was kind of fishing for something to say. He allowed Bill Hader to shine. That's what we're watching for.

Bill is a gift guest. He also has stories to tell on any talk show which the audience loves. Norm Macdonald was like that and so is Chris Rock.

Bill Hader reminds me of the friends I grew up with. He just seems very genuine.
His stories and impressions are great but it’s his youthful silly energy that is really infectious.
Bill is such a good impressionist but also so down to earth: «Thanks buddy».
It's hard not to like someone who is so modest. People like that are such a refreshing change.
