@@trumanupchurch4407 You can look forward to a book about Milos Forman later in 2023 (as you might know, Edward Norton starred in Forman’s “The People vs. Larry Flynt” and later directed him in “Keeping the Faith”). You do not know me, but I have worked as a journalist and film critic in Denmark for years, also covering Cannes for Danish television, so, yes, I did. You can check out my latest book, “Beyond Television”, for which I interviewed TV creators/showrunners/directors such as David Chase, David Simon, Nic Pizzolatto, Mary Harron, Peter Gould, Tom Fontana, Lesli Linka Glatter, Jay Duplass, Beau Willimon, Derek Cianfrance, Jesse Armstrong and Sam Levinson.
he's difficult because he's not one of the actors you pay and he comes in says his lines and leaves. He will be very intimate with the script to make his character better and he even does rewrites of the scripts. and hollywood just likes people that come say the lines and leave. Ed Norton was unstoppable for awhile there, all those great films Letterman mentioned are within like 5 years of each other. I know sequels are frowned upon, but I'm a bit curious where his and Matt Damon's characters would be 25-30 years later, wow, Rounders is approaching 30.
Dave will be missed. He brought out the true nature of all the actors he interviewed. Miss the old show in the eighties when he’d pull pranks at McDonald’s and Taco Bell. Hope you’re having a great retirement…and I think it was very gentlemanly of you to have Norm McDonald as the final stand up act. Horrible to find out he’d been going through cancer for the previous nine years. For him to keep that secret took a lot of discipline. Take care Dave, and take care of your heart, no more injecting pure crisco in your arteries. Lol take care
Well he's still alive n well. Lives on his Ranch in Montana, where Buffalo are raised. He didn't hold back from sharing his thoughts on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. He reminded all that the night of his hosting the Academy Awards , nothing violent occurred
I remember watching Letterman whenever I was able to stay up that late. A lot of people (including my mother) didn't think he was funny. I have always thought he was better at being funny than he was a talk show host. Oddly enough, as I got older I feel differently about that previous assessment. I do feel his current interviews are much better. He seems more passionate about exploring his guest in ways most interviewers would not. Kind of a Trevor Noah/Arsenal Hall way.
My two brothers and I took my parents to the Producers on Broadway right around this time and as with Mr. Norton's show, Nathan Lane called in sick and we saw the understudy, who was indeed excellent. But it was a crushing blow to my mother, who was a Broadway aficionado and was so excited to see Mr. Lane in person.

He is the onley actor who comes to talkshows with a natural state of mind .
I’ve always thought that Edward Norton should have won the 1997 best supporting actor Oscar for “Primal Fear”, instead of Cuba Gooding Jr., who won it for “Jerry Maguire”. It was his first movie, but I remember thinking what a phenomenal actor he was right from the start.
the Oscars are political. it has nothing to do with acting.
The Illusionist, is a great movie, Ed Norton ,Jessica Beil, Paul Giamatti,
What year was this
Cuba is black.
I thought he should've gotten something for Moonrise Kingdom. He played a totally different character for him and looked like he had a lot of fun playing him.
Norton barely changed his face and voice and instantly *became* Robert DeNiro. Wow!
That subtle Deniro was top shelf.
I mean you would wanna see a little more than that.
uh no not at all

Deep Fake lol
From the first time I saw Ed Norton in a movie, a long time ago, I have been in awe of his talent
Ed Norton is one of my favorite actors. He was especially good in " The Illusionist. "Primal Fear" may be his best work. Looking forward to seeing great things from this extremely talented young man.
Was this comment actually 10 months ago? Edward is 54 years old, lol. This interview has to be 20 years old.
What a nice guy, and a great actor. Continued good luck to him. He deserves it.
Hollywood needs to remember what a real actor is like him. Skilllz
I know a fellow who is a private pilot in Kenya. He flew Ed Norton and said he was a great guy. Very friendly and unpretentious. That character comes through 100% here.
And equally a great actor.
I interviewed him a month ago, and he was very friendly and funny. Such a gifted actor and storyteller.

@@LasDellas Congratulations on all of your successes!🙏💜✌️
Easily one of the best actors out there, terrific personality as well
Been my favorite from the first time I saw him act. I couldn’t pick a favorite performance because each was brilliant. Love Ed
I agree he's definitely underrated he's a great actor
Given what a genuinely nice guy he seems to be, it's amazing how good he is at playing jerks!
The Painted Veil was a wonderful movie with a great cast, but Ed Norton made you feel everything.
Great interview. Notice how Dave allowed Edward to share his stories...without interruption?
Ahem Howard Stern
Ahem Jimmy Fallon
Edward Norton is fantastic in everything he does. David Letterman is so unbelievable at keeping itvall hilarious. GOAT of late night!
The Score is one of my favorite movies of all times! Norton is brilliant is it 👏 Absolutely
That was terrific. I know he has a reputation for being difficult, but he is very entertaining and interesting.
He is an amazing actor. A generational talent. I hear he is difficult to work with but always worth it. I wish he would act more.
he's difficult because he's not one of the actors you pay and he comes in says his lines and leaves. He will be very intimate with the script to make his character better and he even does rewrites of the scripts. and hollywood just likes people that come say the lines and leave. I think thats the difference why he has so many classic movies with stunning performances.
He probably carefully chooses roles
@@marcelladillard3556he was just in a Netflix murder mystery lmao I don’t think that was hand picked
@@Giuseppe326 Everyone needs to pay the bills...:/
@@Giuseppe326 It was in theaters first...
One of the best in his field. He hit it out of the park in Primal Fear and from then on I had to watch everything he does. Never disappointed.
Me too.
Same, if Ed Norton is in it, I’ll see it. What a treat.
@@debbiepowers4743 do you mean “is in it?”
@@donrood7282 yes, thanks.
Great comment !!!
Loved the Letterman show. Tons of great stuff. This interview brings back the time . Life was better back then
Edward norton is such an awesome actor. I dont get mich into actors actresses and polotics and stuff, but he is so far under rated and just a genuine oassionate actor. I love it. Good job mr norton
I love this guy. I love the way they cast him to split personaties! He's done it at least 3 movies. When he co starred with Richard Gear that was the best one. Truly talented.
Love Edward Norton, think he's a very talented actor who deserves more credit.
Spent a few minutes with him in a doctor's office waiting room...real chill dude.
Spot on seem lije a good guy primeal fear rocks or was it ha ha end scene
After visiting those apartments.
Extraordinary person, exceptionally talented, modest, authentic. What a most beautiful human. Love Ed!
Ed Norton is one of my favorite actors. Truly an artist that is totally underrated.
I fell in love with Edward Norton ever since I watched him in "PRIMAL FEAR" he should of already won academy awards by now, he has been over looked. Adore and love this man
Ed Norton is amazing and totally not given enough attention in this business he is incredible
I will NEVER forget the first time I saw Ed in, “Primal Fear”. No person has ever blown me away like he did, and it’s never happened again that way. His talent and humility are breathtaking 😍🙌🏼
I am 66 years old, and he is my favorite actor of all time....I believe we haven't seen the best of him...I haven't seen Primal Fear...but cant wait to see it....every movie I've seen is amazing, and so humble in this interview...yes...he is so underrated in his acting career....everyone can relate to all his characters.. it's amazing.....the best ever...
Edward Norton is great. He should be in more movies.
Edward Norton is such an excellent actor!!!
That this actor could ever feel "less than". He is an incredible talent, one of the best actors ever.
Ed Norton wins hearts! Much bigger than any Oscar/Academy award!
I love Edward Norton he is a Great Actor! Love his choice of movies he really gives his all.
Every time I see a movie featuring Ed Norton I watch it; he always makes his characters believable.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
And interesting.
Definitely a great actor and very underrated and underappreciated.
The Painted Veil, was a movie that he was amazing in. I sobbed.
Great underrated actor. Never in a bad movie. The academy needs to wake up honor this guy. Should have a few under his belt already. I really like him too in interviews. Grounded and very interesting guy
I cannot disagree.
This guy brought my all time favourite super hero to life the incredible hulk and to this day it is the best MCU movie ever. Fight Club is a prime example of how versatile he is as an actor.
Loved him in the Hulk. So sad they didn't do the next one ...
What a super guy, I wish this clip was an hour long. Top shelf in my book.
Edward is so seriously talented and a hilariously funny individual! Give this guy a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! He's earned it!!! Love this man's skill!!! 🙆♀️👍💕🙋♀️🥳🙇♀️🙏
The movie Score is one of the most underrated masterpieces of Hollywood.
