Amazing from start to end. Watching both of them match wits was incredible. Thank you Dave and Barbara for showing this one again! Loved every minute of it.
No, Hugh Grant is not dead, but there was a New York Times article in 1930 about a man named Hugh Grant who died at the age of 81. The article also mentioned that he built large sections of several railroads in Canada.
He had a clearly supportive woman, but apparently it isn't enough for them (unfortunately)... Good thing he put his life together and became this grumpy old man we all turned into.
Nice hosting Mr. Letterman! It's always a pleasure watching you work despite the occasional joke slump, ----which we do all have, all undergo, that's natural, nothing to worry about. Which ones? Well...but you are a master of so-called small talk as well as bigger subjects, all very important. But, I am not so much of an 'Anglophobe' (matter of fact I am an 'Anglophile' - nice big words, huh?) that I expect this articulate English gentleman with his famous and fully charming native accent to have to try to meet the American standard of accents established by Gosh George Lindsay, or Jim Nabors or even well Don Rickles. He couldn't do it. That's like forcing Harry Belafonte to sing Abba in Swedish, or something.
Wow! I can't believe that Hugh Grant was able to get back on track after being in trouble in the 90s. Dave should have been more prepared for his Late Show visit.
@@matureyoungman His demeanor is narcissistic and his sense of humor is basic. It gets extra painful when an actually funny person goes on his show and he shoots down any riff, so as to not be outshined. That, and of course the incessant political grandstanding.

The charm is off the charts.

Effortlessly charming as always.
He is. And Hugh's quite nice, too.
He’s very funny! I actually lol’d several times.
What a delightful interview! Letterman has finally found his match.

There's quite a lot of Hugh Grants who are dead. Most of them, in fact.
@11:44 Talk Magazine September 1999, photographer David LaChapelle. However, I can't find the image anywhere.
14:10 for accent attempt.
Thanks!
As I expected, that was awful.
He's a great value interviewee.
Not one Letterman's best interviews, glad Hugh had quick repartees
Honestly, Hugh Grant is the only reason to view "Heretic" because he carried the film.
according to google... as of 11/20/24 830 am west coast time.. he is still alive.
Whew.
TY. There was concern…
Saved me a Google search.
Google still thinks Scarborough Fair was written by Paul Simon, it isn't a very reliable way to get information
@@TonyEnglandUK good time to pick a fight with Paul Simon fans... I guess...?

I, for one, was impressed by Mr. Grant's attempt at an American accent. It was brief and only half-hearted, but sounded convincing to me.
@@joadbreslin5819 @joadbreslin5819 Well, good for you. You think then that he is really an American? 😊

Oh, i can believe it.
@neen42 Why can you believe it?
Dave has such a dry, puritanical midwestern sense of humour. Colbert is a sad approximation. Although I do like Colbert.
If you like Colbert, you may want to go see a doctor

Reports of his death are greatly exaggerated.

R.I.P. Hugh, you will be remembered for all time!

Thoughts and prayers
May he rest in peace for some time after the long press junket he is currently partaking in.
