The best. There are comedy teams that work for years to perfect such a repartee, but Teri and Dave just had it by virtue of being them. Farewell sweet Inga....thanks for all the laughs... and those knockers!
Sometimes I feel like I’m not clear. Teri was a sister in a longtime struggle for me. 33 years. I kept up with her illness, making note of her progress. She was definitely a hero. In my time I’ve only taken vitamins and herbs. I’ve done well and seen big improvements. And…the years keep on coming. I mark the day I first experienced symptoms, September 2, 1991. Why and how I keep going while others don’t do as well nags me some times, but I thank God for the good and the bad. Right now I have a nasty backache that has lingered for months but with the Lord’s help I’ll beat this too.
Just incredible expressiveness at 1:27 with her faux shocked face, before she hits Dave with "There are only about eight people watching this right now." What a stand out talent.
They were so great together. And she was just perfect as Phoebe’s mother on “Friends.” I always loved to see her in any context-so much humor and warmth.
Here in Europe, we didn't get Letterman's show. But on some late night channel in Ireand, there it was. I had no idea who Letterman was. Terri was the guest, and there was a power outage or flooding in the studio or something, so they did the show upstairs in Dave's office. The segment ended with Dave cajoling Terri into taking a shower in his ensuite shower. "What is this weird show", I thought. I was hooked. RIP Terri.
I am absolutely heartbroken and devastated to hear of the passing of my favorite actress of all time--Teri Garr. I have been a huge fan of her work for 50 years dating back to the movie, Young Frankenstein and her stints on the Sonny and Cher show. One of my favorite all-time movies is Oh, God. A movie that was perfectly cast. I have always had an enormous crush on her as well and looked forward to her great, and funny appearances on Letterman of which there were many. RIP beautiful and talented Teri.
The on-camera chemistry between Garr and Letterman was pure box-office - two naturally funny people each bent on knocking the other one off-stride. Terri gave as good as she got. I'm glad Dave was quick to pay tribute to her.
My 1980s crush. Such a lovely character and conduct. Dave teased her so much and the banter was so nice to see. Rest in peace. You will never be replaced.
Thank you David and all for having Teri on so much. She was such a good sport and so much fun every visit way back when there was so much time to just see the fun as it happened while 2 dear people spoke. This is a sad day. I would love to go back in time and watch Teri Garr on late night, fresh for the first time. Farewell
Absolutely cherished her every appearance on the program. Luminous, funny, charming, playful, and a great talent. Rest in peace to her, and my condolences to Dave & his colleagues on her loss.
Every time Teri was on with you, Dave, it was something we had to see and looked forward to the next time. Always so enjoyable. Always sent us to sleep with a smile.
Terri Garr....when I heard the news I knew you'd post something on this channel. She would probably roll her eyes to be remembered so much in connection with David Letterman.😊 She was great in everything...but such a treat on the DL Show
Watching from the State of Rhode Island-Terri-and the show at their best-early Letterman show was the best by far-they don't make 'em like that anymore people. Much love to you Terri! Peace all! 😇
She will always be this young wonderful woman to me in my memories as we should always remember anyone and not old and feeble. Thank you Terry for years of laughs and smiles. "Would you like a roll in zee hay?"
I always looked forward to Teri’s visits to the show. Never knew what to expect Dave and Teri to say, but I knew it’d be funny and slightly awkward. RIP Teri. ❤️
She's was the greatest. I loved Terri Garr. David definitely adored her, has she more than a frequent guest. She made every movie better because of her presence. A charming, beautiful and funny lady. Terri Garr was and will always be everyone's favorite.
David your thoughts are shared by everyone who watched Teri's films and her appearances on your show. She's one of the few public figures whose passing provoked genuine sadness in my heart. I had a surprise moment of closeness to Teri many years ago. I was driving west on Sunset Boulevard and happened to be the first car stopped at a red light at the intersection of Sunset Plaza Drive, when down that street came Teri driving a green Jaguar, and turned left (heading east) right in front of me and I got a good closeup look at her for a shining moment while our vehicles were just a few feet apart. She wasn't made up for t.v. but still looked beautiful, of course. Godspeed Teri.
As someone with two family members with MS - this is a sweet and sad day. Teri would have been 80 years old in December. She was a funny, touching, unique and very inventive actress. She done good - in every way. RIP
R.I.P. Teri. One of the most beautiful and funniest actresses in Hollywood history. She may be gone, but thanks to the miracle of film and videotape her presence will live on.
Oh shoot. i diid not even know she had passed I just watched the video because she was so cute and delightful, especially with Letterman. I'm 100% certain he chose this clip from literally dozens as an homage to her acting. And the thumbnail because look how pretty and happy she is. From what I know she handled her terrible luck with grace and good humor. RIP Teri.
One of the most delightful women I've ever seen. So genuine and authentic. Witty and quick. Charming and seductive in a humorous way (the best form of seduction). Everyone in Hollywood seems plastic now. These 2 were always a treat to watch. The chemistry was perfection. Thanks for the memories.
She was beautiful, talented, great at everything, had a magnetic personality and an approachable aura, and nobody ever said anything bad about her, as far as I know. A guy I know once said she was one of the few beautiful female celebrities that seemed like actual "wife material." That's a huge compliment from a man. So many other showbiz women seemed from afar to be either divas, phonies, or someone dull-as-dishwater to actually talk to, once you got past the pretty face. Teri seemed to be the opposite of all those bad things. Loved her.
Only just now learned she had passed.. reading the little tribute Dave left... and now I'm sad. She meant a lot to me for quite a long time, she fascinated me. Her visits on Dave and Johnny Carson also. I've always remembered one moment on a DL episode where Dave picks up a stray hair puts it in his jacket pocket and says, "I'm doing some replicating at home." A true personality and one of a kind.
I remember seeing her first - in re-runs in the mid 70s, in the Star Trek episode Assignment Earth. Any time she popped up on TV I would watch. She had that girl next door look. She certainly was quick witted and a great guest on Letterman. RIP.
Just read an article about stars that passed away this year and was sad to see Teri was among them. The very first thing that came to mind were her times on Letterman. What a pair, this host and guest! It's like a dance but it's late night comedy at its finest instead. Rest in peace, Teri!
I'm just finding out that the beautiful Teri Garr has left us. I've seen enough of her movies to know how brilliant and actor she was, and enough of these talk shows to know what a witty, natural, gorgeous woman she was. We'll always have her movies, and I'll revisit some of those Elvis movies she appeared in. Also recently bought ' One From The Heart' on blu ray ( never seen this movie ) , but I will watch and, remember her as she always has been . Beautiful! Rest in peace.
Good god she was DROP. DEAD. GORGEOUS. How could you see this interview and not fall in love?! Both looks and personality. Just had very lovable qualities. Rest in Peace Beauty.
Her dramatic range was on full display in the tragically under appreciated “One From The Heart” with Frederick Forrest. There’s a music video style edit of the film set to The Cars song “Drive” that is excellent and shows her at her best. It’s on YT.
Really nice filmmaking too. I think it was filmed entirely on a sound stage. A Coppola film with Nick Cage, IIRC. It started with a very long one-cut scene. Zoetrope studios.
Reading all the comments she inspired is touching - I loved her in Mr Mom, she and Michael Keaton really bring John Hughes writing to life. RIP, Teri Garr.
My biggest and only long lasting celebrity crush of all time. Even from the first time I ever saw her in a Star Trek episode. She was enchanting and charming, even then; as a small kid watching a rerun I was mesmerized by her. And, even now.
I knew as soon as I saw her obit in the NYT that Dave would have something up. And I've never seen a personal note from him. He genuinely had an affection for her. She was one of his favorites. RIP.
Teri Garr and Letterman were such a great pairing. I can only imagine the number of segments they had to choose from for this. Rest in peace.
I totally agree! The Garr and Letterman segments are RUclips highlights for me. Every now and then, I'll watch a bunch, and I still laugh. 😃
Yeah, apparently those two had a little thing going for a bit.
The best. There are comedy teams that work for years to perfect such a repartee, but Teri and Dave just had it by virtue of being them. Farewell sweet Inga....thanks for all the laughs... and those knockers!
Teri Garr ... Just watching her talk makes you smile. Very natural. You could always tell David Letterman had a thing for her. Will be sorely missed.
Exactly.
Who amongst us didn't have a thing for Teri?
Yeah, that pos had a thing for his young staff members, too.
@@TheGreatAtario Yup, she was 20 years older than me, but I still had a thing for her. 😊
Rest in Peace Teri. One of the all time great guests on both Letterman shows. Amazing film resume as well.
My sister. RIP. You fought long and hard with your illness and were a big inspiration to me. I’m still going.
... and you inspire us, keep fighting. Be blessed
I’m so sorry ♥️
Bot?
Loved her from day one. Love you too. Thank you for sharing her with us.

RIP Teri. Her suffering is over. Her appearances on Letterman were hilarious. They never fail to lift my spirits.
A beautiful, talented woman. She was ubiquitous back in the 80's and had great chemistry with Dave. Rest in peace.
Yes, very rare to find her in interviews, agreed. This one is rare footage.
Just incredible expressiveness at 1:27 with her faux shocked face, before she hits Dave with "There are only about eight people watching this right now." What a stand out talent.
Teri Garr's smile was so amazing!
What an amazing person. RIP Teri!
They were so great together.
And she was just perfect as Phoebe’s mother on “Friends.”
I always loved to see her in any context-so much humor and warmth.
Sigh. We'll miss you, Teri. 😢
A charming cinema icon, a deft comedy actor, and a babe. RIP you sweetheart. Never to be forgotten.

So very sad to hear this news. I know how much friendship Teri Garr and Dave had. Sincere condolences.
RIP Teri - wow was I smitten with her in the 80s 😍 - all time great Letterman guest!
She was great in the underrated After Hours.
@davidellis5141
Such a great film, yet no one I talk to has ever heard of it
RIP Ms Garr.
Just heard about her passing on reddit and immediately thought I should check here.
Thanks for posting the tribute.
Sad to hear about her passing. Teri was incredibly funny as beautiful. Her and Dave's banter was entertainment at it's best.
She was one of our great entertainers. Thank you for your work Ms. Garr. Condolences to the Garr family and Mr. Letterman.

One of my cherished moments was meeting Her in the San Francisco airport. Such a joy!
The on-camera chemistry between Garr and Letterman was pure box-office - two naturally funny people each bent on knocking the other one off-stride. Terri gave as good as she got. I'm glad Dave was quick to pay tribute to her.
Always one of my favorites. RIP Teri
p.s. watching this made me really nostalgic. What a delightful personality she had.
If Dave did a Top Ten list of greatest guests, Ms. Garr would be right at the top. R.I.P.
Number 1
If he did a Top One list it would be her
Loved it when Teri was on with Dave. She will be missed.
Truly, one of the all time greats. ❤😢 RIP
My 1980s crush. Such a lovely character and conduct. Dave teased her so much and the banter was so nice to see. Rest in peace. You will never be replaced.

Dave had such a crush on Terri. We all did 😢❤
Came to this channel as soon as I heard. R.I.P.
She was great. Glad I found Giller's clips a few years back and got to appreciate her.
Loved the flirtatious interviews with Dave. Lovely lady and great actress!
May Teri rest in eternal love and peace.
RIP Teri Garr - wonderful performances across her entire career.
She's so great. You're both great together in all of the segments too. Thanks.
Dave and Teri were just the best together on Late Night. Rest well, Teri.
“Mr. Mom” was part of our VHS classic library.
Knew when this popped up what happened before I even heard the news.
Sad for Dave I know he was a fan
Thankfully the work she leaves behind will stay with us forever. Rest in Paradise Teri, may you forever be the brightest star in the sky.🌹
Terri Garr....when I heard the news I knew you'd post something on this channel.
She would probably roll her eyes to be remembered so much in connection with David Letterman.😊 She was great in everything...but such a treat on the DL Show
Beloved and treasured for so many reasons. RIP!
She will always be amazing to me. So talented, funny, sweet...I really love her. RIP ❤❤

You gotta hand it to this @letterman channel for being super responsive.

I always loved seeing Teri Garr on Letterman. They were so funny and witty together
Great Interview, she was a very expressive person, great and funny. RIP Teri Garr
Teri Garr took a shower in Dave's office bathroom, and it was on the show.
Perhaps the only celebrity death that I find myself actually sad over. May she rest in peace.
Oh, what a fun interview. Thank you for sharing.
By far my favorite Letterman guest!
A Hall of Fame guest on the show! Interesting that THIS was the appearance chosen...
terri was so polite. when gene said 'nice knockers' she said thank you
Hahaha 🤣
Brilliant interview. RIP Teri.

Haven’t watched yet cause I cannot right now ♥️♥️♥️ A favourite of David Letterman. Please share more clips. Thank you ♥️ Bless your new journey ♥️

I've always remembered one moment on a DL episode where Dave picks up a stray hair puts it in his jacket pocket and says, "I'm doing some replicating at home."
A true personality and one of a kind.
She’s so charming and funny. And she was ridiculously funny in everything she did. I’m genuinely sad that she has died.
I loved when she played Phoebe's mom on Friends. I never realized how much she and Lisa Kudrow look alike until now.
I remember seeing her first - in re-runs in the mid 70s, in the Star Trek episode Assignment Earth. Any time she popped up on TV I would watch. She had that girl next door look. She certainly was quick witted and a great guest on Letterman. RIP.
Damn. A childhood crush of mine. RIP Teri.

RIP Teri, the world is a little less funny without you 💔 😢
Oh no😢 I always thought Terri and Dave would have made a cute couple. R.I.P.
Dave had a huge crush on Teri. I think the feeling was mutual.
Always loved seeing her on the show, one of my favorites.
I will shed tears and go to bed sad tonight
And tomorrow, in her honor, I will have a roll in ze hay

Teri Garr helped make Letterman's NBC show such free-wheeling fun.
Thanks for all the laughs Teri. You are already missed.
Reading all the comments she inspired is touching - I loved her in Mr Mom, she and Michael Keaton really bring John Hughes writing to life. RIP, Teri Garr.
Sad. But coming to Letterman to share some Teri Garr memories is nice.
Their chemistry is undeniable
Nice to see this sweet clip with David and Teri. Off to watch "Young Frankenstein" this Hallowe'en to smile and remember.
RIP Teri. Wonderful actress and late night TV gold!
I loved Terri Garr since I saw her in Young Frankenstein
This channel is my old-man's TMZ.
Sadly, yes. That's become it's primary function
My biggest and only long lasting celebrity crush of all time. Even from the first time I ever saw her in a Star Trek episode. She was enchanting and charming, even then; as a small kid watching a rerun I was mesmerized by her. And, even now.
RIP, Ms Garr. You were ALWAYS a great guest on Dave.
She was so awesome.
I knew as soon as I saw her obit in the NYT that Dave would have something up. And I've never seen a personal note from him. He genuinely had an affection for her. She was one of his favorites. RIP.
Thanks for the laughs, Teri....R.I.P. 😢
My favourite female Letterman guest. Sad that we all have to pass. RIP Teri ❤️🇨🇦
There will never be another. I loved you Teri. We all did.
She will be greatly missed and loved her appearances on Letterman 😢❤😊😊😊😊😊
RIP Ms Garr. Forever fan since Young Frankenstein....
The lady of whom Dave once said "the nicest smelling guest we've ever had on the show". RIP Teri.
The definition of charming. RIP beautiful.
I loved her in the original Star Trek episode with Gary Seven. Only thing I've seen her in. She was great.
If you like Star Trek you must see Close Encounters of the Third Kind. She plays Richard Dreyfuss's wife.
