If anyone thinks, de niro is acting awkward, or uncomfortable, it’s because he is. He does not give interviews. It gives him really bad anxiety and he tenses up and cannot talk, that’s why you see him acting like that and also never see him doing interviews rarely.

As great as this was, it would have been absolutely phenomenal if Al Pacino would have been present, just imagine that.
I like Hoffman’s humor, and I think DeNiro was contrived on purpose (perhaps for mysterious and comedic effects) have to give Dave props for handling it like a pro.
Edit: Props to Anthony Hopkins too, my favorite actor.

Non-comedians will never know how hard it is to try to make an entertaining bit when the person beside you is flat. It’s one of the hardest things you can do and only the best Comedian can do it. I commend Dave for being able to pull it off. Johnny Carson used to ban people from the show for acting the same way. Dave played on it. The funny thing is, had Dinero not been laid-back and quiet… The whole segment would not have come off as entertaining. It could’ve been disastrous.
I commend all three. I’m sure Dinero actually really enjoyed this. You could see him breaking a smile every once in a while. Probably second-guessing his history of not appearing on the show. I’m going to guess that it was in loyalty to Johnny… Or maybe he just for whatever reason had preconceived notions about Dave. Definitely hilarious.

Robert de Niro is my lifelong HERO..What a Champ! Dustin Hoffmanns Voice is just marvelous! He speaks like a guy from the Radio - deep and with big confidence. But the more i ADORE the Silence of Robert. What a great charming guy with his smile and his smirking face. 🥰🤗❤👍
I would love to mention something about Elvis Presley`s acting journey - but i KNOW what will come after that - unfortunately. He is not taken serious as an Actor for a reason...but actually especially his Movie "King Creole" was very appreciated from all critics. The Role he played there was meant to be for JAMES DEAN...but he died way too early. Also Elvis`s first Film "Love me Tender" was the most successful Film in the Year 1956.
Ofcourse Elvis never won an Oscar, but he also NEVER got the chance to really act like he would have loved too and was capable of - when you hear what several Actingpartners said about him. He was capable and able to adapt any emotion - but HIS MANAGER and i think Hollywood itself didn`t want him to get a real honest chance to show what he could do in a SERIOUS Dramarole. It`s a real sad Story. After all Elvis was the most busy Actor in Hollywood in the Sixties and almost all his mostly mediocre "Elvis meets Girls" Movies where highly successfull at the Box-Office. I know for sure that he HATED ALL his Films in the Sixties and he was devastated at the End of his Filmcarreer - because ofcourse no one took his Movies serious anymore.
I bet Robert de Niro and Dustin Hoffmann met Elvis many times at the Paramount or MGM-Studios, because EP made 3 Films a Year. Impossible that he didn`t meet all the other REAL Actors.
Anyway...Sorry for all these Elvis thoughts. It`s just sad in so many ways, because he really had the ambition to become a seriuous Actor. He said that in his first Interview after his time in the Army - in 1960 and he saw it as the biggest Failure of his Carreer that he never achieved anything great as an Actor.

I had a chance to do a weekend ride-a-long with FDNY 9th Battalion back in 2005, their quarters are on 48th and 8th (with Engine 54/4 Truck); it was a thrill to pass by the "Late Night with David Letterman" marquis as we responded to a late night call. What a great video I watch it over and over. It’s funny and shows how lame David Letterman is when he is around talent like that. The truth is the best thing about the Letterman show, (and I was a fan), was Paul Schaefer and his CBS Orchestra and all those guest musicians. The musical guests were just unbelievable. Schaefer managed to get all the stars of the 60s 70s 80s and 90s fantastic talented musicians.
