He is not taken serious as an Actor for a reason...but actually especially his Movie "King Creole" was very appreciated from all critics. The Role he played there was meant to be for JAMES DEAN...but he died way too early. Also Elvis`s first Film "Love me Tender" was the most successful Film in the Year 1956. Ofcourse Elvis never won an Oscar, but he also NEVER got the chance to really act like he would have loved too and was capable of - when you hear what several Actingpartners said about him. He was capable and able to adapt any emotion - but HIS MANAGER and i think Hollywood itself didn`t want him to get a real honest chance to show what he could do in a SERIOUS Dramarole. It`s a real sad Story. After all Elvis was the most busy Actor in Hollywood in the Sixties and almost all his mostly mediocre "Elvis meets Girls" Movies where highly successfull at the Box-Office. I know for sure that he HATED ALL his Films in the Sixties and he was devastated at the End of his Filmcarreer - because ofcourse no one took his Movies serious anymore. I bet Robert de Niro and Dustin Hoffmann met Elvis many times at the Paramount or MGM-Studios, because EP made 3 Films a Year. Impossible that he didn`t meet all the other REAL Actors. Anyway...Sorry for all these Elvis thoughts. It`s just sad in so many ways, because he really had the ambition to become a seriuous Actor. He said that in his first Interview after his time in the Army - in 1960 and he saw it as the biggest Failure of his Carreer that he never achieved anything great as an Actor.

David Letterman is the king of late night!
No Johnny Carson
I could listen to these two talk all day
I love the work this 2 actors have done, very good.
"Hang on to your wigs and keys..." Love that Lettermanspeak. I had a chance to do a weekend ride-a-long with FDNY 9th Battalion back in 2005, their quarters are on 48th and 8th (with Engine 54/4 Truck); it was a thrill to pass by the "Late Night with David Letterman" marquis as we responded to a late night call. "Never Missed a Performance" is their motto, as they are first due to Theater District addresses.
God I have loved Dustin Hoffman’s smile since I saw him in the Graduate ❤❤
When Dave ran through the list of great movies these two have done, my thought was gee i’ve got to rent or stream these movies and binge watch! 😀
Tootsie and Raging Bull all by themselves would make these two legends! What unbelievable performances (respectively)!
Why is Dustin Hoffman looking much younger, healthier looking and much bigger than Robert Deniro? That is crazy. Incidentky midnight cowboy is one of my all time top 5 favorites 💓
I have never realized how handsome Robert is until I saw him on Heat. Hotdamn he was and still so handsome.
I'm glad David interviewed two big stars, which were Robert De Niro & Dustin Hoffman "The greatest actors from their generation" whose biggest influence connects them both "Marlon Brando". Therefore, they both are Brando's children.
My Dad's favorite actor and my favorite on the same stage. I like Hoffman. Cool that Duvall and Hackman got mentioned. Who ya like between those two for all time best supporting actor?
That’s a legendary list. Duvall is next level, but then again so are the rest of them.
@@ginnywhat5777 Hackman IS the man!
Tootsie and Cape Fear didn't get enough applause.
My Grandfather die the same day RFK did. RFK was critical for about 6 hours before he passed. My dad was not speaking to us, too much grief and shock.
Robert! Thank you! For EVERYTHING!!! ❤
What a great video I watch it over and over. It’s funny and shows how lame David Letterman is when he is around talent like that. The truth is the best thing about the Letterman show, (and I was a fan), was Paul Schaefer and his CBS Orchestra and all those guest musicians. The musical guests were just unbelievable. Schaefer managed to get all the stars of the 60s 70s 80s and 90s fantastic talented musicians.
Two great actors legends
