Sure but 20 under won it the last time the Open was at Troon. I like that they don't tinker with the courses - if the course dries out and the wind blows, 280 will win it. If it's soft and calm it might take 265.

The Masters and even Sky Sports golf produce individual highlights with almost all their shots, R&A should start doing this These highlights miss A LOT of what happened
A true test of golf as shown by the scores. Xander played so well around the greens, short game is where the scores are made. Well done to Justin Rose, so near, his game is trending. If Lowry hadnt have blown up on the back 9 on day three ... Who knows. Much prefer to see the guys battle against the elements than shooting the lights out on a course in perfect conditions. Just goes to show, links golf on a course that isnt overly long in changeable conditions, is the true test of golf.
I'm absolutely thrilled to see Xander win two majors in 2024! His performance has been incredible this year, and I couldn't be happier for him. Now, I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing him defend his Olympic Gold Medal successfully in Paris. It's going to be exciting to watch him continue his amazing journey and represent USA on such a prestigious stage.
Really difficult to follow the game with rubbish highlights like this - it’s like they make it for people who actually watched it and want to go back and relive critical putts?
Xander is the real world number #1 now. Scheffler is good at winning the warm up events with weak fields that no top players really care about winning (minus The Masters) but Xander is good at winning the big boy events with strong fields that everyone wants to win. 2 majors in 1 year rarely happens, Bry58n almost done it earlier this year but Xander has done it.
Thank you for giving away so much epic free live content for us poor plebs! The Par 3 coverage was so awesome! Well done Xander, quality champion. So great to see Rosey in the mix again too.
Xander was at -3 for a very long time. He showed great patience with the course. He didn't try to force anything especially when the weather got ugly. This was a very impressive win. Short game caught fire 🔥 Congratulations!
Xander Schauffele taking THE OPEN is something else. Watched the full highlights, and man, his game was on point. Congrats to him on a well-deserved win! What a tournament.
Was a privilege to have been there on the final day..What a atmosphere! Only sour point was never saw Xander parade the jug as most players do to the fans to grab a photo..

It was a win that made you think Schauffele's era was coming. This year's The Open was fiercely contested and interesting. However, Schauffele's swing is so beautiful that I would like to emulate him.
This tournament emphasised just what a great, tough golf course and game it should be at this level and how good Xander was to win it. An absolute challenge for the best in the world and the competitive, low scores demonstrated this. So much more unpredictable and exciting than the super-manicured courses. Loved it!
This Championship, and today's golf in particular, perfectly highlights the extraordinary skill these tour pros possess. It is only when you see how they handle tricky situations, on a tricky course, in tricky conditions that you truly comprehend the enormous chasm between the elite and the 'average' golfer.
How brilliant an event! Forget the talk about reducing ball performance and the distance the new clubs hit the ball - it didn't do them much good at Royal Troon! Great course design, topography and of course the weather really test the best. There are some great courses around the world that these guys should play on every week (Cape Wickham and Barnbougle in Tasmania, Kauri Cliffs in NZ) and not the pristine flat courses you see on the PGA TOUR at times. Give 'em gnarly!
@@Jeebizz101 Did his 3 putt inside 6 feet at the 9th not convince you earlier? 🙈 He played bad the whole round, his top on 18 that went 100 yards into the rough that didn't even make it to the ladies tees was just the cherry on top 😂
The open definitely has a very unique feel compared to all the other tournaments of the PGA season, personally I prefer the American style course where it appears luck and weather play less of part in the victor but I definitely see the appeal of this style of play if its only once or twice a year. It kind of feels like it levels the playing field a lot more where as in America skill desparity is more apparent
@@Jeebizz101 Cookie cutter PGAT events with no wind or bad weather are boring as hell. This year the US Open, Masters and the Open all had challenging weather conditions and/or challenging courses to make things interesting to watch. The PGA Championship was a birdie fest but Scheffler getting arrested along with Bry58n bringing the heat on the final day made that tournament good to watch. All of the majors delivered this year IMO.
That was the kind of victory that gave you hope for Schauffele's future. The Open this year was highly competitive and captivating. But Schauffele has such a lovely swing, I'd like to imitate him.

Xander won 2 majors, Scottie won 1. The other diddy events Scheffler won are irrelevant next to major wins. Plus the PGAT has weakened fields now and is a glorified feeder tour for LIV now. Non major events get used as warm up events for majors by most good players, tune ups. Majors have the strongest fields by far as well. Xander is the better all around player, Scheffler 3 putts inside 6 feet.....if that's who people think the number 1 player in golf is then golf really is in a sorry state 🤣
@@SiLoMixMaster Yeh thats my thinking, Xander is more exciting to watch in my opinion as well, the PGA needs to do the merger before LIV take over as the premium tour, the PGAT still has some good events outside of majors but if they loose a 3-4 big names over the next year its gonna be quite hard to recover
I'm watching the video because the title says "Xander Schauffele wins THE OPEN | FULL HIGHLIGHTS | The 152nd Open". But after 1:31, all I'm seeing is long chip or putt holeouts by different players. Great and all, but hardly what the title promises.
