- Cameron Smith won his first major title at The 150th Open Championship at St Andrews.
The Australian shot a final-round 64 to overturn a four-shot deficit and finish one shot ahead of American Cameron Young and two shots ahead of third-round lead Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy was trying to lift the Claret Jug for the second time and win his fifth major - his first since 2014. But Smith charged up the leaderboard with five consecutive birdies on his way to a back-nine 30, the lowest ever by an Open champion, with Cameron Young then snatching second with a final-hole eagle.

Rory will be replaying this round in his head forever, so many putts were incredibly close, he struck the ball so well.

Not bad, but if he hit it closer some of those puts could have dropped. He missed too many puts by millimeters. Poor putting?? Or not putting himself close enough. This will haunt him forever.
Rory got a lot of practice brushing in sub one foot puts. Cameron Smith is a wizard on the green!
Rory threw it away but respect to Smith he won it on the back 9. Golf never ceases to surprise me.

He doesn’t say that, he says “f**k yeah!”. Aussies say it all the time if something is really good or you’re pumped up. It’s like saying “let’s go!” Or “how good is that!”. Basic sentiment is the same thing haha. He was just pumped up to finish it off

@@WeldingUntilLungCancer he's got a great short game. Too bad he's a complete joke now. Nobody really even cared when he was on the tour but now since he's in the minor league tour he gets no exposure. He wasn't very marketable in the first place but now he's just an idiot with a dumb haircut.
@@jeffreyval9665 I just rewatched him have the wildest win ever at the players - missed every green, duck hooks and all. Somehow 1-putted 8 of the back 9. 101 putts all tournament. Ridiculous. Dunno how he does it. I think he gains 5 shots per day on the tour average that week.

Smith will always compete from a wedge in but when his driver is behaving along with it , he'll not only compete , he'll dazzle..lol
It wasn't Rory's putting that let him down. Rather his approach shots. He never hit anything really close.

2022 the players, guy missed fairways as bad as it is possible but won with putting and chipping...rarely you see something like that..but Im always sorry for Rory, as dominant as he was for a decade (before Scheffler and Jon took over) and his last major win is so far away, IDK but he choked 2times in Dubai, Tommy didn't have any chance if it was not Rorry who made two quad bogeys....just sad, he, without any stretching would easly have 10-15 Majors...

I see why Rory hates LIV golfers so much. I just hope he never loses a US Open to a LIV golfer by bad putting. I'm sure that wouldn't happen, pga is better golfers, and they play four rounds, and wear pants...

How so? If he stuck it better... Closer. He would have dropped more puts and maybe won. Maybe he wasn't aggressive enough. Of course that is the difficult balance. Too aggressive and you crash and burn.

Nothing historic about this. This course is just too easy for these guys now and should really be pulled from the rotation. The last truly historic open was Phil and Stensons duel.

Rory has always been know as an average putter . Looks way too mechanical and pulls a lot of short ones . Once the putter starts failing everything falls apart.

1:17 they go to watch the Open live, but they prefer to see it from a tiny screen. I will never understand these people... Just watch it on TV or here on youtube for better quality. If you go there, you lose the moment of watching it live, by filming with your phone. How many times are they going to watch it from the phone anyway? What a waste of moment, what a weird society we're living in. What a wrong use of tech.
