    FAQ's:
Q: I cant switch between Legacy/CSM and UEFI or switching didn't help.
A: If you cannot find how to switch the setting in BIOS or if switching did not help, then reinstall the Operating System.
How to install Windows 10: • How To Install Windows...
How to install Windows 11: • How To Install Upgrade...
If Windows does not install, perhaps your Hard Drive (HDD) is bad. I would then replace it and try the install again.
Q: What if Windows does not install and keeps erroring out?
A: If Windows won't install correctly, then we know that the Hard Drive is bad. Replace it as seen here; • How To Replace Asus Co... . Then, install Windows onto the new one.
Q: Will changing those settings in BIOS erase any data?
A: Changing those settings in BIOS will not delete any data from your hard drive :)

Hi PCM... my Acer Aspire M shows the logo, then reaches 'working updates 99% complete Don't turn off computer'... it freezes! I've pressing esc, and f2, to no avail. I even detached battery and pressed the power button to rid of static...? Again, no luck. Where am I going wrong? Thx, RC

@Mini man-roblox vidz If you cannot change the settings in BIOS, or if changing them does not work, then skip that step and try to reinstall Windows 10 as seen here; ruclips.net/video/bIlW4im-tr4/видео.html. You can create your own Install Media for free as seen here; ruclips.net/video/g_UhiHScaSI/видео.html. If that fails, then your Hard Drive may be bad. Wow that may have worked. I followed the video for removing a hard drive. My aspire hard drive was removed by pulling on a piece of plastic. I then tried to turn it on, and it didn't at all, so I was scared. Then it did, and is doing a diagnosis. Before it would stay on for only 3 seconds. Thank you. Very helpful

Hi PC Monkey, great series of vids regarding PC issues, thanks ! Am in Australian and have been given an ACER M3-MA50. Was working OK till I tried to do some 'clever' things and it then failed to boot properly. I went through your RUclips suggested list, reseated HDD, check time settings etc in BIOS, etc. Finally decided to reload WIN10 64bit via your link to USB boot load option. This seemed to load OK but on removing the USB at end of the process and restarting the PC its is permanently stuck on the ACER logo screen with constant 'Getting Ready' message and moving whirl. Have not reset bios to make book from HDD yet, but USB is out. all help appreciated !
Have previous to this seen DPC watchdog message but not since I reinstalled WIN10

I had this issue for the first time today and had just found your video - however just as I was about to start following your instructions, my laptop (Nitro 5 ) decided to finish booting, got past the Acer logo screen and I was able to put my password in. I found that on the desktop there was a window open which was a Clock/Focus Session(?) which I hadn't seen before, so I think something to do with this caused the problem as I had never seen it before. Probably another Windows update :( So I went online and checked it, then found advice to uninstall the Windows Clock app which I have also done. This does not affect the laptop's clock which still displays the correct time in the bottom right corner. I hope this prevents the issue from happening again!

If changing BIOS settings didnt work, or you cannot change those settings, then move on and try to install Windows as seen here; ruclips.net/video/Wu0c8wR5Ltk/видео.html. You can create your own install media for free as seen here; ruclips.net/video/g_UhiHScaSI/видео.html. If that does not work, then your hard drive is most likely bad. I was able to disable UEFI and it booted up. What causes something like that to change all of a sudden? Also are there any changes to my computer that would impact performance when that setting is changed?

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  2 года назад

Sometimes BIOS looses power for a moment, causing some settings to reset / change. Usually should not be a problem as long as it does not repeat. If it happens more frequently, you should consider replacing the CMOS battery as it may be failing.
No, nothing should be affected negatively by having the correct setting in BIOS selected :)

I have an old Acer laptop that is experiencing an issue. When I turn it on, the fan spins for 5 seconds, but the display remains black. The power indicator LED shows a mix of blue and red lights. Then, I hear a very subtle sound (similar to breaking a grain of sugar), and the laptop turns off, with the power indicator light going off. This cycle repeats continuously.
Should I go to a mechanic? I don't know how to open up a laptop and repair, i don't even have the tools to do so.

Hello Jim. So, I have spent the entire morning trying to fix my computer issue and this video has been the easiest one to follow with the most clarity. So, am able to go into bios and do everything you suggest, however, it will not save and exit, no matter what. It just sits in bios and I have to shut down the computer to get out of it. So, I have a constant loop of Acer trying to start up, go black, then start up again. And when I go into BIOS, I am unable to save changes and exit. GRRRRRRR! I am going to have no hair left on my head after this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you kindly. :)

Symptoms have included, but not limited to: Initial random shutdown, came back on, but kept shutting down in shorter lengths of on time. It then entered the "stuck on logo, loading, all lights on" phase. Next came the black screen but all lights, then immediately shutting down. I began the tedious pattern of unplugging either the battery or the charger to get it come back on (it seems to dislike having both at the same time now), at one point saving my data and completing a reset successfully on about Day 5 or 6 of repair attempts....but not restarting. I'm at the "fail to boot" stage. Occasionally it'll enter the pre-boot test, pass everything. then shut down. It's a Dell XPS 15 9570. I'm attempting the BIOS battery discharge now, and have tested the battery and both ram cards. It could be the charger, but what say you with these symptoms? I have gotten the "no devices", "BIOS corrupted", re-installed the Firmware through SupportAssist, and a complete reset.

It didn't work for me, fortunately I was able to feagure it out myself thanks to your ideas. The thing is I was playing video game when It suddenly crashed and said your pc run into some problem, it did this 2 times that I was pissed off and shut down the computer without finishing the error checking thing. I tried to calm myself first before starting the pc but it just showed the logo when I boot it up. So now I'm here. I was really just sad that this happed but I couldn't gave up just yet, I just knew it's only a simple problem. So I tried my research, tutorial, and even tried to open my laptop to see if it's clean or if there's a loss connection in the memory or storage. But nothing worked. Then something made me think if something wrong with the boot up so I tested it. I recently updated my pc with SSD and added a memory, so what I did was remove the hhd. I thought I'd would work since my operating system is installed in the SSD. And yes finaly it booted up and I can access my desktop. Now I knew where the problem is so I tried putting back the hdd and rearage the boot priority in the bios. Sadly it just won't work. I think the hdd wasn't working anymore so it's just sad, I tried plugging the hdd to another computer so I can acces the files but unfortunately it can't boot the pc. But I can't gave up just yet. I have to try one more thing. I just have to go to town and buy a usb which I can plugged it in. So to be continued...

Yes, if these steps dont help, then you rule out a BIOS issue. You would then try to reinstall the OS. If that fails, you know that your HDD is most likely the cause. Glad you were able to find it.
