Awesome video helped me a lot in the beginning. One tip... Just launder the stolen items. Removes the red tag. Take them to a trade facility and sell it to them and do not exit or back out. Just buy them back right away for the same price you sold them. It launders them and makes them clean. There was even a scene in the game where someone comments about the trade organization selling stolen property so its a Canon way to clean items.

If you're doing this 1. Do not go past lv4 in the sim. Let yourself get wiped out aka the sim ship blown up at lv5. Then leave the sim and "try again." you can do this until you max the skill and as well use the process to get targeting maxed out too. To assure the most efficient use when you leave the simulator, just ignore the not there ... that way you can return as you like... you also can improve the test ship on the computer. When the simm starts, get up from the seat and go adjust the computer. Also the best way to get to much higher levels if you want to do the full faction quest

I dunno if someone's already said this, but remarking on your regrets about not ranking up the pilot skill- you can go to the flight simulator in Mast District (part of that faction quest) and redo it over and over to get your ship kill count up. Great guide, thanks!

One random tip if you are struggling in ship combat change all our weapons to just one weapon. This way you can put all of your weapon energy into one weapon system instead of trying to seperate the energy into several weapon systems. This lets you in a way to punch above your level.

One thing that helped me is to have maxed power on shields when ever I am in combat. Then secondary priorties would be weapons then engines the one weapon type helps with this so that you can dedicate more power in other areas. Another thing is to consider your ship classes A,B, or C. Each ship has a certain playstyle that it fills. A being fighter, normally very fast and somewhat small. So try to put maneuver your enemy's. Then B class medium shields, medium maneuverability generally. C class is the largest ship class poor maneuverability but good shields. The best tactic for a c class ship is to tank shots and use turreted weapons to fire in your enemy's. Although this is just in my experience, and what I recommended is to find the ship class, and style you like, and experiment.

@@bushmonster1702dude every single Bethesda game (including the ones that at the time got rave reviews) has had poor graphics, ridiculous amount of bugs, and other outdated mechanics at the time they came out. The fact that StarField has middling to decent graphics, very few bugs on actual release, faster loading screens, is a vast improvement over it’s previous releases. Every single complaint I heard about StarField is completely missing the point of what makes a great Bethesda game (and this game is the greatest in my opinion). The point being is that you are introduced into a vast story driven world (or galaxy) that is utterly filled with numerous opportunities, of which you are free to create your own path. If you are not really willing to take such a journey (and the 100s of hours that goes with it), than why are you even bothering to play a Bethesda game in the first place?

Contraband can be taken and sold at The Den, in the Wolf system. They won't scan you prior to docking. You can also sell stolen items to Trade Authority, and then buy back for the same price you sold it, which will then remove the 'stolen' marker from the item. Helpful if you stole something that you want to keep

One trick for thoes with contraband.... just fly to your outpost and make a chest just for that. Then when you're up in commerce go on a special run to the Den in the Wolf system.
You also if are going to do any crafting will want one for stolen items you craft with and one for weapons helmets ect you can modify. Any stolen item you modify looses the stolen tag and is ascwe worth more too

I really appreciate the time you put into this. I’m only a few hours in and have enjoyed the game so far. The biggest issue I have is the lack of tutorials. For instance, the lock pick system. There were no explanations in game on how this worked. I found boxes before digipicks, and tried to open them for a few minutes before I realized what was needed. And then when I got one, it again took me a good bit of time to figure out how it worked. Several systems that you discussed here, I had no hint at them being available, like crew placement. I think they really dropped the ball here. So your video has been hugely helpful.

Alright, I’m actually 50+ hours into the game but really wanted the authentic figure it out for myself experience before I started checking out the community. Awesome tips, scan fast travel (the gaming experience is some much better mid game). Skills - targeting, jump pack and starship design (learned about piloting the hard way). Also ship building (only can have one grav drive and reactor). I haven’t tried to build an outpost but once I’m done building a ship to the level I want I’ll try that. The follow up questions this brought up were:
    1. Social Optimization (did manipulation from Raijin + maxed persuasion and it helps so much but curious about the other options)
    2. Best ships, and parts (weapon, drive for each ship design level and class)
    3. Outpost - protecting it, what materials to optimize and what practical things can you put (mission boards, mod benches etc. and on which planets)
    4. Best missions (outside of main) so all factions ( I think there are 4 UC, Raijin, Freestar, Crimson Fleet but I hope there are more - super fun)
    5. Way more detail about crew - who are the best to follow you, who are the best for ships and outposts etc. can more than one person follow you.
Looking forward to the rest of your videos!

A little tip about storing your crafting materials....... In the basement of the Lodge, there are all the crafting tables. Right next to the research station in the center of the room, there is a box with infinite storage as well. I have found it to be the perfect spot to store crafting materials when not using them. When you need to craft or research you can just use take all, do your business, then store what you did not use back in the box for later. That way you don't have to go all the way up to your safe, then walk down to the basement. Also, when you have a massive amount of materials on your ship and do not want to walk all through Jemison transporting them to the Lodge, you can put them in your inventory, then travel directly to the Lodge from your ship if you choose the Lodge when landing.

Great video for beginners. I would like to see more related base and outpost building. I noticed you did not "link" your extractor to the storage but instead manually moved it. I saw a stream of someone who linked their extractor to storage and then storage to the structure that has incoming and outgoing storage on it that allows for access across multiple outposts. Really interested in seeing a more in-depth guide on how all the outpost and base mechanics work. Thanks and keep up the great vids.

Are you a Teacher of sorts ?? Your
Loving the DETAILs in your Video ...WELL DONE..
This is one of the Best on youtube.
Been playing for 3 days now....having a ton of fun
Do you have a video on Basic Building of Mining resources on planets ??
I am having difficulty understanding how , and where this is done.
24:43...Before I land on a civilized planet, I like to TRADE /SELL all my MISCELLENOUS stuff with other ships in orbit of planets...so my inventory is emptied, for other things when exploring the next planet.
31:04..I don't have the Skill called *PERSUASION* ...but when I where a Clothing that has a bonus on "+5% Persuasion" , It does the job...
I like wearing clothing that adds +5 to Carry load on my person
34:07 ..when I score an illegal contraband...I always take it to the Wolf System = Den StarStation...and sell it to the Trade place there...
I haven't found any other place that does this, yet...
35:28...If you scan the resources of planets....you get a notepad for it...these sell for alot of money at different places.
43:20...I've found alot of ship repair kits, when I am in a planets orbit and hail a ship and trade / buy *Ship Repair Kits*
I haven't found a planet , yet, that sells these.

Hey Lucky, been watching some of your Diablo videos and was pumped to see you putting out Starfield content. One major tip for you that might save your piloting error, I have not tested this but have with another companion skill so I think it will work here to, as long as you assign a companion to the right location his/her perk will light up, giving you the equivalent of having that perk unlocked. I believe it is Sam Coe that has four ranks in piloting so as long as you have him assigned to your ship, you should be able to pilot class c, I don't know how this will work with stealing ships, but it seems to work for his payload perk which gives 2 ranks equal to 20 percent increase in cargo capacity, which I can say with no points in payload my ship has 20 percent increased cargo. Like I said I haven't fully tested this so don't yell at me if this turns out to be false lol

Great guide, thank you. One thing that appears missing (I may be wrong) is the ability to focus on just the current mission in the heads up. I’m a newbie and my scanner whether on or not shows the locations of multiple objectives so I haven’t a clue where to go or where I am. I keep trying to memorise the layout of Atlantis for example. I like authenticy to be on max, so I don’t expect to just be at the destination instantly. One nice thing about the dialogues is that they are relatable. Their clearly has been thought into ‘relationships’ in constructing them. I like to think we’re at the pioneering stages of future game playing possibilities and this is a step in the right direction

A thing to add, piloting and fitness are both super easy to level. You don't need to take them into consideration as a background choice because you can literally level them up right-quick. Like.... literally just sprint back and forth with a heavy load each time you get a point for fitness. Takes 20-30 minutes to get from level 0 to level 4 if you've got 4 point saved up. Same thing with piloting: save up four points, go to the UC building on Jemison, and then farm up some digital kills in the simulator. Super easy to get both of those. Fitness was the first skill I got maxed out, then piloting.
Background is more about flavor text in different conversations to boost the roleplay aspect of the game. Though... I'll note that I feel like the combat medic, at the very least, could have had a few more dialog options. Like with the UC terrormorph questline there was this thing where you could lie about a military related profession. But... what if taking the combat medic background made that specific piece of dialog just a regular option rather than a lie? Maybe your character WAS a combat medic shock trooper and now they're retired?
