One important fact that I didn't see you mention: The UC lost the Colony War because they stood down when the Freestar Collective used a fleet of civilians as a 'human shield' to their advances.
The UC historians/propogandists may have seen them as civilian ships, but ask any FC citizen and they'd describe them as privateers or militia answering a call to arms.
@BogeyTheBear perspective is such isn't it? Freedom fighters to one guy, is a terrorist scumbag to another. So interpretation means little with actual facts available. Human shield wave attacks of civilian/militia to thr FC is brave heroes standing and sacrificing for what they believe in.. to the UC may very well have looked like civilians being gangpressed into service as cannon fodder to soak up UC Firepower to save the expensive remaining official vessels. So... 🤷♂️ it's left to us. Bevause propaganda on both sides is equally insidious.
I remember listening to Sarah when she talked about this battle in the Cassiopia system in the Colony War. I believe she said she could hear her crew dying in their escape shuttle (on the radio) because it had taken structural damage, and thus spiraled down onto the planet. Either burning them all to death in planetary re-entry or from the impact on the planet itself. So.. the UC didn’t need to check for other survivors, because there were none but Sarah & perhaps some critically injured crew she may or may not have found and brought with in her escape shuttle.

Also Sanon wasnt "executed" for londinion. It was for the final battle at akila when he killed civilians because they joined the fight.
You do a great job of storytelling and presenting all of this information, but as a passerby on starfield lore with no real experience with the game at all, this lore just sounds so…bland. It seems like there’s so little reason for any of these conflicts to be happening, and the moves that each faction makes don’t really seem to make any sense. Why did the UC decide to just occupy a system without thinking about the people already there? Why did the FSC decide to accept the plea of the Narrion colonists for help? How did negotiations even break down? It seems like both factions support some form of democracy; how did they get to a point where they were so willing to go to war with a faction for TWO DECADES so philosophically similar to their own? If it’s territory, it’s space; there’s plenty of it out there. Why did the FSC decide to violate the Treaty in order to colonize Vesta? It all feels so.. full of holes and without reason.
This is intended to be constructive criticism, please don't take it as anything other than that. Your information is mostly correct, but I must ask did you just do reading about the lore or have you played through the game to obtain it? You've somehow managed to mispronounce nearly every major location name, despite them being properly pronounced throughout the entirety of the game. Other than your interpretation of pronunciation giving the impression of someone trying to speak a language they've only read about, similarity to the way we Americans mispronounce zebra since you don't get to name something you don't have, you're well on your way to accurate and entertaining content. In short, your video is mostly accurate and informative. Keep up the good work.
I don't know how to feel about starfield. I guess it's a good thing that bethesda has finally proved that they are capable of performing more than two tricks(Fallout and elder scrolls) in total, but the time invested into a near flop that will almost certainly never see a sequel much less any sort of follow up... Should have been used instead for retconning their previous fuckups.
Excellent stuff sir, starfield doesnt compare i think in lore as a game like cyberpunk or even other Bethesda games but ive found that you get what you were wanting to find when you play. If you expect to be disappointed you will be but there is alot to explore and get up to if you're willing to chill and have a good time you will find that as well.
you know if the colony war was what the main story instead of the garbage starborn fetch quest this game would have been so much better. the lore is so much more interesting that the boring uneventful game we got.
There are abandoned military bases, mech scrapyards, and crashed spaceship locations on most planets in the game. Those were all caused by the Colony War. I also forgot to mention Londinion falling to the Terrormorphs was also caused by the war.
Difficulty at least on my opinion wasn't the issue, but after nearly 60 hours in it felt deeply asinine and repetitive, 70-80% of the planets feel similar and past the main story it felt lacklustre by the 20th ship combat where you just joust with pirates, or search the same deserted output or factory the 30th time. I will not denigrate you if you enjoyed it friends, far from it, but Bethesda has suffered from putting the breathtaking vista first, and the substance second in terms of quality. I want to make progress in 1-2 hours because that's all I get at the end of my day of work if I keep to a regimen.
@Nomadith I agree with this but there's a couple things you can do to make it better. Use different guns, try different stuff, don't be afraid to change your pace. I spent a few hours making a series of outposts to make money. Stuff like that will help Space is empty. If everywhere was taken up, where would you build an empire? That being said, Space is empty, space stations exist, why can't I own one? There's mech graveyards, why can't I put a power cell in one and steal it? Because this is the base game, with confirmed DLCs coming in the future. Because Bethesda is still a company employing God knows how many people every year and they need money
The reason given for the UC losing the Colony War was clearly out of touch with reality. I het that its a game, but damn... No captain or commander is going to sit idley by and let his people die just because a few civilians decided that they wanted to be human shield. Get better writers.
Mech warfare versus Zeno warfare. 😮 this is a no-brainer Xeno warfare is biological.🦠 compared to Mach⚙️ they can use it to move around cargo or use it for farming and things of that nature. There is no comparison! I think UC is wrong. Because bio weapons are much more inhumane.
Okay silly mistake, it’s the CITY of Londinion not planet. Slip of the tongue from me I think! Anyways enjoy!

that's in most things because you get the answers much faster by watching a video than playing it, this isn't starfields fault but human nature
13:33 in my story I made him class one citizen
I'd be pissed if I was Paxton too
It was so brutal every veteran developed that thousand yard stare! It was so spooky!
Do want more.
Tbh the limitations on colonization dont make logical sense for either nation.
Oh boy, more reasons to dislike the governments in starfield
Excellent stuff sir, starfield doesnt compare i think in lore as a game like cyberpunk or even other Bethesda games but ive found that you get what you were wanting to find when you play. If you expect to be disappointed you will be but there is alot to explore and get up to if you're willing to chill and have a good time you will find that as well.
I hope this isnt a "one off" like skyrim :(
you know if the colony war was what the main story instead of the garbage starborn fetch quest this game would have been so much better. the lore is so much more interesting that the boring uneventful game we got.
The colony war that we barely see the effects of in the game.
There are abandoned military bases, mech scrapyards, and crashed spaceship locations on most planets in the game. Those were all caused by the Colony War.
I also forgot to mention Londinion falling to the Terrormorphs was also caused by the war.
Cheyenne is pronounced as SHY-AN. Gotta love our weird American English huh?
Some of the background events sound interesting, too bad the rest of Starfield is bland and feels low stakes.
Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.
The games not about war. Its exploration and the cost to do so.
Turn up your difficulty? 🤷🏼♂️ bethesda can't make an exploration game toooo hard but very hard is the best you'll get
Difficulty at least on my opinion wasn't the issue, but after nearly 60 hours in it felt deeply asinine and repetitive, 70-80% of the planets feel similar and past the main story it felt lacklustre by the 20th ship combat where you just joust with pirates, or search the same deserted output or factory the 30th time.
Stuff like that will help
Space is empty.
It is pronounced SHY-anne
It is pronounced Shy Ann
Armistice not armastice
✌
...You butchered the pronunciation of Cheyenne, and I refuse to get over it.
Топчик
starfield lore suck it nerds.
the massive, boring world of starfield
The massive boring world of haters looking for attention
Boy I could not give less cares on game's lore than starfield lol
Ill like it but ehhhh not really interested in Starfield.
Plot holes everywhere.
Bethesda at it again with awesome world building but falling flat in integration
If only the main quest was as interesting as the back story, oh well.. hopefully the Elder Scrolls 6 will be fun.
Ya hopefully the 6th edition of the same game will be thrilling 🙄
Mech warfare versus Zeno warfare. 😮 this is a no-brainer Xeno warfare is biological.🦠 compared to Mach⚙️ they can use it to move around cargo or use it for farming and things of that nature. There is no comparison! I think UC is wrong. Because bio weapons are much more inhumane.
I wouldn't waste your time
Pretty much every proper pronoun is mispronounced. Gotta love AI voices.
