I remember only playing the campaign to unlock stuff for the multiplayer. Despite that, i absolutely loved this game multiplayer. Tons of content, great maps, great modes and fun moments i had in this game with my cousin inside the split screen mode. I never felt how bad the gunplay was since i was in ps2 with the controller and the fact that i mostly played the multiplayer with bots and split screen.
Oh my god, we had the same childhood. Me and my brothers would either play RF2 like this, or the old WWE Smackdown games, as kids. That was about it, no other games 😂
My family and my neighbors would gather to play this game. On PS2 with that multi-tap thing that allowed for four players. One of our favorite custom games was to go grenades only. The sticky grenades can bd place right in someone's face. If you hit someone with it all they can see is it bounce around taking up the whole camera.
At 12:33 that isn't a shield. That's the Nanocore that was stolen at the very beginning of the game which housed tge very same nanotech that Capek made in the first game.
Loved the shit out of this game. Played the campaign even over and over again. Multiplayer was sick, my brother and I played a billion hours of that, just us and bots. Fun times.

This game taught me a lot about not getting too hyped for upcoming games and being cautious about putting my money down for pre-orders. I loved RF1 but bounced off this incredibly hard.
I wonder if this game was rushed somewhat, since the game's demo has none of the celebrity voice actors and Shrike has a different personality. I could be wrong but RF1 had more consistent Geomod, as well as a bunch of secrets involving tunneling through rock to find goodies, even if it does basically vanish once the mercenaries show up, RF2 has more required geomod though. (But also, like with the explosive barrels, it's alot more scripted.) RF2 on consoles had split-screen but RF2 on PC just has a botmatch (not even online MP) and the MP uses weapon sprites for pickups and a different way more simple looking HUD.
Being rushed would be consistent when it came to the PS2. Hybrid control scheme for Mouse and DualShock and if you wanted direct weapon select you could also plug in the keyboard for the campaign. But, for whatever reasons, they didn't get game coding included to support Mouse and DualShock hybrid controls for player-2 which was a disappointment after I was so accustomed to the hybrid controls and was expecting it and when, comparatively, Unreal Tournament was able to support Mouse and DualShock hybrid control two-player splitscreen on PS2 and that was a launch title for the system.
Even after two decades I still remember main villian because he shares the name with my city - Sopot. gunplay reminds me Fire Warrior for some reasons. Same weak stuff despite the size.
I loved this game as a child so I was pretty excited to see what you had to say on it. Admittedly the multiplayer was better than the campaign and that's probably why I loved this game
No Doubt. On the PS2, the console experience was a pretty good multiplayer FPS for the system. Was disappointed that, given Unreal Tournament for the launch title for the PS2 and was successfully ported to support Mouse and DualShock hybrid controls for two players, that hybrid control scheme didn't get coded correctly for Red Faction 2 for player 2. Regardless, that didn't keep from enjoying so much of the variety in the maps and game modes that Red Faction 2 had to offer in multiplayer.
12:30 Its not a shield, she is using it as leverage for him not to just shoot her and damage the Nanotech. That device is why they went to the statue to begin with. That phase rifle could harm the sample by shooting through it, the dude does not want to make bets with his Nano Elite sample. Tangier wants the sample destroyed at all costs, and she throws herself off the statue in an attempt to do exactly that. As a parting "fuck you" she throws that grenade. Arguably she should have had that grenade out at the beginning of the scene as he could have just shot her in the face. But again, He does not want to risk the only sample of his greatest weapon. Even with Alias and Tangier fighting him, he is a Nano Elite. They are bullet sponges throughout the game. We see that he had a fall back plan to pilot a mech, they'd have been risking the fate of the world if she didn't jump.

Bad or not I've got fond memories of RF2 being one of the first video games I ever personally owned and played as a kid..my mom refused to buy me any consoles growing up until I was like 12 or 13 maybe 14. So before that other than playing over friends houses, I played what I could on the family computer. Red Faction II...Beachhead 2002, Driver, Test Drive, Motocross Madness, NBA Live, SIMS, etc. Ahh man the nostalgia. Bought this game at launch expecting way better Geo Mod tech. Was such a step back compared to RF1. Multiplayer had much more content and the 60 FPS frame rate made up for it. Overall I enjoyed the game but it left a lot to be desired
Being 11 years old when this came out. I actually liked the campaign and multiplayer. Sure I played half life on ps2, halo, time splitters 1 and 2. but still this game was alright. I bought it recently on steam and this game does not age well
Jarek I knew I made the right decision....to delete this POS from my Xbox One X once I played the first 30 minutes. It was free on "Games for Gold" thank God I didn't spend a dime on this trash.
RF1 campaign was good because of that truly alone feeling it gives you as an enslaved employee trying to escape. Only RF2’s multiplayer is fun, unfortunately.
I've tried to play this game many times and give up after about 30min. You called it boring. That's a great word to describe it. I have heard the multiplayer is fun though.
I remember just using the cheat on ps2 and just wrecking things because i was a kid and it was funny to use the cheats like extra chunky. Just a simple triangle, triangle, x, x square, circle, square, circle and boom everything unlocked.
The DualShock+Mouse hybrid control scheme was really good for this and, if you wanted direct weapon-select in campaign or solo multiplayer with Bots, go ahead and plug the keyboard in as well. Unfortunately, even though Unreal Tournament supported Mouse and DualShock hybrid controls for both players in split-screen as a launch title for the system, the mouse+Dualshock scheme wasn't coded for player-2 ; yet, regardless, the maps, game modes and pick-ups along with just enough geomod made RF2 some of the best FPS multiplayer for PS2 especially when you plugged in the multi-tap.
It's been like 8-10 years since I last played this game but I just don't remember it being this bad in graphics, although the screams and deaths were funny at that time too. I just couldn't beat that tomboy chick in the campaign, so I loved the multiplayer bot massacre.
Frankly the Red Faction games should have been called Brown or Grey faction instead, becauce those are almost the only colours throughout the entire franchise.
Heya, Jarek. If you're ever interested in an oldie of a Game, given Red Faction 1 and 2, there is a game called Command and Conquer Renegade, that's an FPS you might get a kick out of, set in the Tiberium Universe of the C&C Franchise. Could be worth a look on the First Decade set. Kinda sucks though there's no Renegade 2, but there's also the Mod called Renegade X.
I noticed that the solders you fight in the game don't dawn the unban camo until the second half, before that there all waring that woodland combined with desert camo throughout the city segments in the first half of the game, not that I'm complaining about that Uban camo is one of my favorites it's more intimidating than the others.
I remember exactly, when i played RF2 for the first time with the age of 15 and was all like blown away!!! Being able to wield and fire 2 hand guns or 2 light smg's independently, because back the i was obsessed with "The Lobby" shootout scene from "The Matrix". About 2-3 years ago i replayed it out of nostalgia reasons and guess what... it opened my eyes and made me realize, what a 15 year old dumbf*ck i was, that hasn't reached puberty!!!! how in the actual f*ck, did i find this entertaining!? Because it's so boring, it sucks oragutan testicles through a 100 meter garden hose!!! Just like the 15 year old myself 😒 BTW Mr. Dragon. Thanks 4 keep making reviews of new & old, good & bad FPS games 👍
I will never understand why they didn't make a great sequel. The potential of the franchise was huge. And then they released this shit.. sure its not super bad but damn if it isn't a great disappointment.
First half of the game, when you fight the military and then the junta, is actually quite fun and stupid non-stop action. The later part with mutants is repetitive and boring. Also the game has fantastic and original soundtrack. For those of you who is going to play the game on PC - soundtrack has low quality, but is easy to find and download the soundtrack from consoles with better quality, you can use it in PC game and also listen on your playlist
Me and my nostalgia goggles absolutely love this game, but that's from playing bot multiplayer with my dad. Warlord CTF is just so much fun. Eventually as an adult I played the campaign and it was alright, but nothing compared to Halo 2 or 3 which I also grew up with. Even more later I played the Original Red Faction's campaign and was blown away by how much more interesting it was by comparison (excluding the end which kinda dragged on). Looking back, I think RF2's multiplayer still holds up, but I always disable the railgun in bot matches. There is an excellent selection of maps, the bot customization is still a really cool thing, and the music man, the music is so damn good in both RF2 and RF1. Personal favorite for me is ruclips.net/video/aY6bgWQ5VlE/видео.html or simply titled 'Multiplayer 6'.
Try the console version but only in split screen and with bots on the multiplayer side, it is very much amazing to dedicate the time with and the weaposn there feel slightly better than in the campaign.
when i see screenshots of it i thought that this game is nice with good gunplay, but i couldn't launch it on windows 10, i glad that i didn't now, thanks for that
Was such a disappointment going from 1 to 2! I still have both on PS2 and rarely play RF2. Anyone seen the red faction movie? I thought that was pretty good. They kept to the storyline quite well. So glad the franchise improved with guerrilla and the one after it. Have spent many many hours on them aswell as the original. Multiplayer on RF was great too, even with all the hackers was so much fun to play. Does anyone know if any servers are still live?
I'm currently playing it in Xbox One, I'm enjoying it so far. But the Shriek boss fight is a pain the ass, still haven't completed it. Too many zombies, railguns, and rockets!!
Never played this of the first one, but I played the hell out of Guerrilla on the 360. That’s an all-time classic and more games should have built off of it
Welp i just bought Red Faction 1 & 2 for like $2.50 a piece on PSN. I'm enjoying playing through the original again...just gotta remember to save often.
It made sense for the first game to be titled Red Faction, because the story takes place on Mars, which is literally called the Red Planet. The sequel might as bell be called "Grey Faction", because the story takes place in a dull, monochromatic city.
Molov couldn't shoot Tangier because she was holding the Nanotech. The Power Armor I'm not sure could be explained, but Molov does have ~250 IQ. He probably rigged something in the tower to bring it down after the grenade went off. Maybe not as fast as in the scene, but... Yeah.
Let me just say Red faction Armageddon is the closest thing we will ever get to a starship troopers game (until the actual starship troopers game comes out)
You know what I.P. Volition had that I wish they continued? Summoner. A fantasy RPG reminiscent of DnD. The first game was janky, but I played it on PS2 and enjoyed it. It was a launch title in 2000. Then they made Summoner 2 which wasn't bad, it had some interesting ideas and concepts, but I remember the story less than the first game. I still enjoyed it. Reason why I say this is because these games came out about the same time Red Faction 1 and 2 did. I love Red Faction 1.
The Co-op was shockingly good! So, so good! The idea of changing the stats of the NPC bots was genius. Why can't we have that now?!! Local coop and NPC's that you could min-max on tonnes of stats?! Such a genius idea. You want a bot with only small arms but massive health?! You want a bot with insane accuracy and a sniper rifle but poor health? Off you go. Your choice. And everything in between.
I mostly played this game MP with my bros and friends. However, I did play the campaign and remember that damn mech boss fight. It was a little tough but not that bad. I can't remember which ending I had though. I'll have to watch some of the long play. I also can't wait for RF Guerilla video. I know it's been said over and over but it really is great. I just got the Remarsted edition on my Deck and with a community control scheme, it's fucking amazing. Highly recommend it on the SD.
I still like the game multiplayer was my favorite part even though it doesn't have online play makeing custom bots and playing with a friend were great times
I never understood that the game is supposed to take place in the year 2080 5 years after the first game. But says the main character alias was born on 2137. Makes no sense
Dont play Guerrilla on hard, that game is super fun but the way they designed enemies is that they just spawn from nowhere without end like GTA cops, on top of that the higher the difficulty the more expensive it is to upgrade your explosions, and the game is only fun when things are exploding... which to be fair is not difficult at all to do.
I play this game on xbox series x and I think this game looks much better now that compared to the PC version, witch I think is kind of backwards. Sorry if I spelled something wrong in this comment 😅
I enjoyed all the Red Faction games! People didn't like the later ones? =/ I mean don't get me wrong, the latest two weren't amazing like the first one. But they were solid 7/10 games. Get on sale and play on a rainy Tuesday games.

Fun Fact: Lance Henriksen voices Molov and Jason Statham voices Shrike.
Happy New Year, Jerek
Looking forward towards more of your content here once again this year
RF1 campaign was good because of that truly alone feeling it gives you as an enslaved employee trying to escape.
Will you review Hrot when it comes out?
Frankly the Red Faction games should have been called Brown or Grey faction instead, becauce those are almost the only colours throughout the entire franchise.
Haha, you get that it was set on Mars right...
I was totally expecting the female NPC to say, “Way to go Step-Bro!”
This game was a defining game for me, loved every second of it...except the sub mission.
Can’t believe Jarek beat the final boss first try no deaths, went absolutely insano-mode on it tbh, the best skill I’ve ever seen.
Stream gang wya
I noticed that the solders you fight in the game don't dawn the unban camo until the second half, before that there all waring that woodland combined with desert camo throughout the city segments in the first half of the game, not that I'm complaining about that Uban camo is one of my favorites it's more intimidating than the others.
4:06 It's because your guns do the talking... Duh!
They did, it's called RF: guerilla .. just think of RF2 as an anomaly haha
Im currently playing on hard difficulty and am stuck on the last boss battle and has given me incontrollable rage
The multiplayer is insanely fun I would play it with my friends even with just bots I loved it
It's a fantastic alternative to TimeSplitters 2, I'll have you know.
The best split screen fps to PS2.
I remember being so disappointed of RF2 back in the day... :(
Me and my nostalgia goggles absolutely love this game, but that's from playing bot multiplayer with my dad.
It's a pile of shit. But it's one of my favorite games of all time. The nostalgia I have for the campaign and MP is unreal.
when i see screenshots of it i thought that this game is nice with good gunplay, but i couldn't launch it on windows 10, i glad that i didn't now, thanks for that
Was such a disappointment going from 1 to 2!
5:10
this part almost makes the whole game worth it lol
Hello jarek, how do i get your background of your Pc ? I absolutely love it. Thanks for your Content :)
It was a private commission I got from an artist.
I'm currently playing it in Xbox One, I'm enjoying it so far. But the Shriek boss fight is a pain the ass, still haven't completed it. Too many zombies, railguns, and rockets!!
Never played this of the first one, but I played the hell out of Guerrilla on the 360. That’s an all-time classic and more games should have built off of it
I remember being super excited about this game coming out in 2002. I loved the first. I remember being so disappointed when i got it.
I feel bad for anyone that grew up with this, and I grew up with Goldeneye for the Wii...
Goldeneye... for the Wii? Man I feel bad for you, growing up with that poor imitation of a game...
@@_Braised Nah the single player was decent and with a pro controller the multiplayer was pretty fun, could have been way worse
@@ZiggityZeke True, at least it's no 007 Legends or Rogue Agent. Not a patch on OG Goldeneye or Agent Under Fire tho
Gunshots and speech are on the same audio volume slider because shooting is how guns talk.
Molov couldn't shoot Tangier because she was holding the Nanotech. The Power Armor I'm not sure could be explained, but Molov does have ~250 IQ. He probably rigged something in the tower to bring it down after the grenade went off. Maybe not as fast as in the scene, but... Yeah.
This was a fun game back in the day, but the multiplayer is where its at.
will you do guerilla? or only the fps titles?
Why does the villain sound like Tim Curry doing his Red Alert voice? 🤣
Let me just say Red faction Armageddon is the closest thing we will ever get to a starship troopers game (until the actual starship troopers game comes out)
A starship troopers game actually exists. It was made in 2005. I want Jarek to review this game
I short - the WHOLE game was the local coop
Basically like DMC 2
I am waiting wen you make video on Red Fraction Guerrilla 🔥😎
I mostly played this game MP with my bros and friends. However, I did play the campaign and remember that damn mech boss fight. It was a little tough but not that bad. I can't remember which ending I had though. I'll have to watch some of the long play. I also can't wait for RF Guerilla video. I know it's been said over and over but it really is great. I just got the Remarsted edition on my Deck and with a community control scheme, it's fucking amazing. Highly recommend it on the SD.
I still like the game multiplayer was my favorite part even though it doesn't have online play makeing custom bots and playing with a friend were great times
Just finished Red Faction 1 first time ever, was so hyped to play second game and damn this reviews was really sad, first game is masterpiece.
How BAD is it really??? Not! It's NOT bad.
It's just mediocre AF
I actually enjoyed this game, but every thing you had to say was valid... that final boss though was definitely awful.
I never understood that the game is supposed to take place in the year 2080 5 years after the first game. But says the main character alias was born on 2137. Makes no sense
OG Red Faction and RF 2 most underrated features = The Splitscreen multiplayer and its bots.
This is my childhood game I love whatever it is
I play this game on xbox series x and I think this game looks much better now that compared to the PC version, witch I think is kind of backwards.
Sorry if I spelled something wrong in this comment 😅
i thought it was pretty decent back in the day, played it again a year or 2 ago and though it was way shorter than i remembered but still ok
I love red faction 2 for Gamecube 🔥🔥🔥
At the time this game came out it was a ton of fun. Nice video
one of the best multiplayer games ever made but had no online
I enjoyed all the Red Faction games! People didn't like the later ones? =/
I mean don't get me wrong, the latest two weren't amazing like the first one. But they were solid 7/10 games. Get on sale and play on a rainy Tuesday games.
Every one seems to really like guerilla. The most common opinion I was picking up on in my chat is that it's the best one.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon I'd say that's correct, they sort of went back to making a more Red Faction type game. I'm looking forward to your review of it!
I think there's a lot to be said for just shoot and forget games, hehe.
As an FPS for that era it's pretty decent but for a Red Faction game? nah. You expect the sequel to improve the destruction not damn near remove it.
Only thing I remembering liking the game for was for having Jason stantham in there
Biggest issue with this game was it as a poor quality console game and the port was horribly translated to PC.
In the interest of diversity of opinions - I would like to add my thoughts on the game.
I thought the game was terrible. I'm glad I only bought it second hand for about £1
Wow, I didn't realize how bad the game was. It was one of my personal favorite games of all time. Now I hate it😂
You hate it just because some ADHD nerd said you should?
@@PutkisenSetä bruh, why 😭😂
I freaking hated the final boss. I had to turn down the difficulty to Easy just to beat him. I was that frustrated.
I loved this game in the day. Why would people hate it? Beyond me.
