BLACK was always about the joy of firing guns, filling people full of bullet holes, blowing things up, and completely destroying the environment. However, it did everything in a relatively plausibly realistic manner, as opposed to the blatant fantasy world of "Bodycount."
I remember reading about Bodycount as a "spiritual sequel" to Black online, I absolutely love Black with all my heart, and I'm not going to lie, I did get a little excited about Bodycount. Remember to this day as one of the biggest disappointments I have ever had lol.
Yeah I remember being so thoroughly let down I didn't even bother to finish the first level before I got rid of the game. Just holding out hope for a Black remaster now.

I liked the way it held information from you. Nothing from the story, no interactions with other characters minus the murder. You get nothing because you are nothing. And the cherry on top was "ASSET EXPIRED" on death. Levels and enemies got old quick though

M16 in black had a grenade launcher. I remember loving the game when it gave you that weapon once you got silver weapons unlocked for that sweet, sweet unlimited ammo.
I just cannot for the life of me understand how multiple professional game designers looked at the art design and color pallet of this and thought it was in any way acceptable. Like weird muddy brown shit and bright blue and yellow arcade interface. It’s like they took assets from three different games they started and just mashed it together without thought.
I'd love a Medal of Honor: European Assault from the ps2 analysis. I played it a lot as a kid and found it very amusing. Local multiplayer and an awesome story mode. I'd like to know from you if it was that good or is just nostalgia
I think Black was great as it was so I think a remake would be a bad choice as the pacing and design are as good as they are, it needs PC remaster. Mouse aiming, 60 FPS and higher quality textures and models but keeping the style, sounds and explotions galore would be enough for me.
Funfact on Black: Like in many games of this time (Bf 1942, Vietnam). The geometry of the ak47 is inverted. Otherwise you wouldn't see ejecting sheels nor the reload animation. So it's just for visual purpose but very cool and we'll thought

Fun Bodycount facts! This game only exists because Codemasters wanted a COD competitor. Very early in development, the game was originally going to be about cops and policing, which would’ve been very interesting as it would’ve beat Battlefield Hardline to market by a few years
I enjoyed Bodycount for what it was: a dumb game I got for $1 on PS3. I didn't even think Black was all that great but still a game I enjoy for the sheer technical feats and spectacle. Bodycount just lacks that soul entirely. As a dumb game you get for the price of a can of soda its not bad but at that point almost any games good. If I paid full price I'd hate it ngl
i had bodycount around when i bought mass effect 3 in 2013 i liked bodycount after about 2 weeks playing i really started getting into it then my gf lost the disc and i started playing me3

There is a story to Bodycount, but it's rather vague so you have to read between the lines to notice it. It's implied that your Mission Control that gives you orders throughout the game is in fact a member of the Target, who decided to stop committing bad deeds and turns good, to bring down the organization. The Network doesn't exist, having been destroyed by the Target before the events of the game. Your character is an Unwitting Pawn who was hired by Mission Control under the pretenses of joining "the Network", without realizing that it's just the two of them acting alone. The ending implies that the operative takes up the mantle of the Network, and continues the fight against the Target. .......................and that's it...............*shrugs shoulders*

I remember when the demo came out, I played 5 minutes and had to go grab a friend to make him play it as well to make sure I wasn't crazy because of how godawful it played and he confirmed it was indeed terrible. And then 10 years later the same thing happened with the Balan Wonderworld demo. I'm scared what 2031 has in store for me.

From the previews, I kinda thought that Bodycount was some form of arcade styled cod single player shooter. Mixed with: Bulletstorm UI Black inspiration Battlefield destructive visuals F.E.A.R. AI
This game can deliver some momentary fun mostly because its action packed but very flawed like those kane and lynch games. It's like watching a bad movie with lots of action, this gen had alot of these kind of games.
If only someone is able to rip the weapon models from Black and port them to games like Garry's Mod, we'll probably get the closest thing to Black on PC. I would love an actual port for Black on PC but I feel like EA might lost the source code for it similar to how they lost the source code for one of the Mass Effect DLC.
Only thing Black lacks is a blood pumping soundtrack to accompany the action, easily fixed by listening to some of say, Andrew Hulshult's more action focused soundtracks. My choice being his Rise of the Triad 2013 soundtrack.

Obviously it's annoying in-game when your have this weird obstructive weapon zoom instead of ADS but just looking at it on a video it looks pretty great - The way the weapons are animated, decent models and lighting, neat blur on the back of the gun... I think it's pretty damn sexy. Aaaand it's one of the main reasons you shouldn't put visuals above gameplay because while it does look neat I just can't see myself playing this game with aiming done like that. Which is a shame because overall weapon handling from a visual standpoint seems way above standard for the time the game came out.

It does run in 4k at 60fps via backwards compatibility on Xbox One X and Series X.

If only someone is able to rip the weapon models from Black and port them to games like Garry's Mod, we'll probably get the closest thing to Black on PC. I would love an actual port for Black on PC but I feel like EA might lost the source code for it similar to how they lost the source code for one of the Mass Effect DLC.
Only thing Black lacks is a blood pumping soundtrack to accompany the action, easily fixed by listening to some of say, Andrew Hulshult's more action focused soundtracks. My choice being his Rise of the Triad 2013 soundtrack.

Bodycount looks like "that game the edgy kid plays in a movie"
Obviously it's annoying in-game when your have this weird obstructive weapon zoom instead of ADS but just looking at it on a video it looks pretty great - The way the weapons are animated, decent models and lighting, neat blur on the back of the gun... I think it's pretty damn sexy.
Aaaand it's one of the main reasons you shouldn't put visuals above gameplay because while it does look neat I just can't see myself playing this game with aiming done like that. Which is a shame because overall weapon handling from a visual standpoint seems way above standard for the time the game came out.
