My instructor, Gerry Hogan, in his book The Hogan Manual of Human Performance: GOLF, 1991
Gerry explains that the right index finger and right thumb should be kept off of the grip.
Those pincers activate muscles that lead to casting/OTT, out to in swing path. Cheers
oh MAN Your explanation is second to NONE in the world tks for this this insightful professional information it clears up so many questions about this topic
I'm glad I could provide clarity on the topic and help answer your questions. Happy to help! Thanks for sharing. 🙌
I had an epiphany on the range the other day, the way you speak of when wrist and elbow can move interchangably.
I realised this myself that day, and made sure that my elbows are angled more like what I see you do in this video, rathen then closed and I guess in the direction of my wrists. I changed this with both my elbows, left and right, and I have not made such beutiful hits on the balls that go relatively straight ever. A complete sensation shift. now there is a bunch of other stuff I need to work on. but these videos are helping
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thanks for the comment 👍
best grip video i have ever seen, so important to get the grip in the right position.
Many Thanks 👍
Great video with well explained detail
Thanks Paul I appreciate it!
Very informative, well explained video.
One of the best I have ever seen.
Admire your knowledge.
I believe, same grip for all full swing including Driver.
Isn't it ???
Your videos are so meaningful. Thx to you,I can now finally understand how to put my hands on the golf club
Great to hear!
Thanks and Good Luck 👍
Great video! Thank you for posting this!
Glad it was helpful!
Good video. Would be a great video if you could provide a close up view of the grip itself.
Noted!... Thanks for the idea
Next time will definitely implement the strategy.
Very helpful video. The details are so important IMO.
My issue has been to ulnar deviate the right wrist when taking the grip.
I know now that redial deviation is the correct way to grip the club. ie right thumb cocked toward the sky.
We would never punch someone with ulnar deviation ie thumb pointing away from yourself.
Rather we make a powerful fist with thumb/wrist toward the sky.
Spot on you nailed it! Hopefully it's the missing piece you have been looking for 👍
Excellent explanation and very informative video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks a lot 👍
Awesome video. Thanks very much. Struggle is over with the right hand
Thanks...Keep watching 👍
Great vid Kerrod. Also I love joondalup and had a house in ocean reef many years ago when I lived in Australia. Great course!
Thans, Brent! Keep in touch!
Excellent video, cant wait to try this i struggle with the right hand
Thanks!
You can easily do it...Good Luck!
Great tip. Thank you
Thanks Ahmad 👍
Great explanation on right arm and hand . Now I think I understand the relationship between right arm and hand position! On the club. I’ve been toying with this prior to video but wasn’t clear more guess. But I think that if I do this properly the wrist hinge should be less contrived and more natural. Amazing how something that appears to be incidental to the swing can actually have a huge impact. Starting to realize that each step of the golf backswing done incorrectly leads to compensation in the next step so that by the time you start down you have little chance !
Awesome! Good luck, mate!
Exactly! You’ve probably taken your game to the next step by now with that insight.
@@mrsmartypants_1 Thanks!
Could you do a video on recentering with the driver - seen the one with the irons but not driver.
What an excellent video!! Thank you..I wish there was some description of the trail hand pressure at impact... pressure down more on top of the shaft ? Or more pressure pushing the club down the line at impact with more body rotation? Or is it a driver vs iron thing? Thanks again
Thanks
Not gonna lie...that was pretty dam informative on the right hand and arm and I don't think I have ever seen it explained so well. If you take it back with the way he said to put the right hand on you can actually feel your backswing end cuz that right hand just feels like it cant bend any further. Once it feels max bent I start the downswing....feels like a 3/4 swing but I look in the mirror and it's a full swing. Great instruction
Why would you lie? No need to start a sentence that way.
@@cluman1 pretty sure I wasn't talking to you was I?
It appears that every idiot is starting their sentences that way.
I have a grip problem that causes my right hand to pull off the club in my take away. Could this be a bad right hand grip?
Great video and glad to see you explained about the index finger - so many coaches ignore this part. Always great content thanks.
Thanks, David!
What's the difference between your drill and actually fanning the club?
Where should the left elbow point?
Thank you.
I assume I should be doing this with every club in the bad. 60 degree thru 3 hybrid. should i be doing it with driver as well?
Hi, Mate! You got it!
There is another very simple technique. Take the club in the right hand only and hammer in a tee or just tap the ground in a hammer action. Keep the right hand in that position and then offer up the left hand and slip it into position. Really simple and really effective.
the best idea
Would also have liked to see the whole process more close up. No need to see all from head to toe if focus is the hands.
Nice....go to about 6 minute mark...
Weird...... I'm naturally a lefty who plays right..... I think I might need to just bomb my tee shot and go lefty the rest of the way ....... main reason I play righty extra 30-50 yards with the driver
Please get to the point faster....5:27 before you even start talking about a proper grip. DAMN
Maybe you should ask for your money back! Be grateful these guys are here to help us,... for free!
Maybe that's why you're always playing out of the rough, you can't listen to someone who knows better than you
