He gave an opportunity to Shannon and he destroyed his legacy by becoming jealous of Shannon. It's time for him to retire.

I had a co-worker whom I worked with for 3 years. We worked incredibly well and became close friends, but in our last 4 months, we had a major falling out, and it became hard for us to be around each other. I got frustrated and left the company to start a new career, and it saved me financially and personally. I'm coming up on my year anniversary of quitting and found out she got fired 2 months back for something out of her hands.
People and old co-workers kept asking me if I felt joy or happy she got fired and I told them "No, she was a great employee but putting my feelings aside she didn't deserved to be let go and I'm sad because I know how much that job meant to her." I reached out the next day. She thought I was going to gloat. I told her how I felt, and now we are back to being friends again.
It's a complex emotion, but don't take pride in someone else's downfall or failure. It doesn't do anything. I could never express how complicated that feeling was, and SAS did it perfectly.

If Skip were sick, he STILL wouldn't leave, that is how stubborn he is. He has no say-so in what is happening now. This is the man who told his wife with a straight face that she would always be 2nd to his career and she would have to marry him understanding that.

SAS is correct. I personally like Skip. Even with all his out there takes and positions but if you’ve been on top (one of the guys at the top), progressing and killing the game for 4 decades that’s a damn good legacy. That’s success.

When you call someone's bluff, you better have something to back it up. The heads at FS1 are just as much to blame. It would be interesting to know what the conversation was between the network heads and Skip after the major on air blow-up between Skip and Shannon. Did Skip give them the ultimatum, or did they decide on their own to keep Skip and let Shannon go? I suspect if Skip gave Shannon the push, then this is poetic justice. If it was the heads' decision, maybe they should have tried harder to keep Sharpe (which would have meant holding Skip accountable)?

Back in the day, I used to look forward to Skip and Stephen A. debate on Monday mornings after an NFL weekend.
Many times I would analyze after the shows, was it Skip or Stephen A. I was more drawn to watching the show.
And I would always have the same outcome, it was that incredible chemistry they had together!

It was a show and its sad that it came to an end regardless of the reasons. Much respect for Stephen A and much respect for Skip Bayless. They made ESPN fun and entertaining. Fun and entertaining is lacking in ESPN today.
