    Love it, Peter. I wouldn’t anticipate many hits on this video because you are not advertising how to drive the ball 300 yards. Of course in truth you are doing just that. As your instruction here is an integral part of the whole process of building a correct golf swing.

    Thanks Peter, I’ve only just realised after 25 years of golf that gripping the club correctly with the right hand has given me more power and definitely straighter shots. For me the thumb on the left side of the grip has made a huge difference! Look forward to our lesson on Thursday 😀

    I'm impressed! I've been searching for something to fix my right hand grip. It's always loses control. I checked my grip after your video and indeed u were right. My right forefinger Knuckle was UNDER. I made the change and now it feels secure. I love it. Thx Peter. This video may revamp my swing.

    This is a very good lesson. I've been trying to focus more of my attention on my grip to improve my ball accuracy and distance and this video HELPS a lot! Most of the videos I've been watching have focused on the Left hand in a strong position which is accurate as well. When I finished watching this video focusing on the righthand, it like made a huge impact on my swing pattern. Its a repeatable swing. The right hand acted as described as the trailing hand and it became easier to focus on the left for power and guidance. Thank you!

    I just started holding the grip with my trail arm with my finger tips and holy crap what a difference .. I totally feel and can control the club better now and the balls are going a mile effortlessly.. I’m gonna try this style next time I’m at range and see what happens.. the whole time I was listening to everyone on RUclips saying to put it in the base of your fingertips and I was struggling like hell and making me frustrated.. thanks for this video and info sir..

    Great explanation Peter on how the right hand properly grips the golf club. When I grip the club, I am always aware of the "joint pockets" on each hand and the "trigger" finger of the right hand. This definitely gives me the needed wrist flexibility to add power to my swing! Good Job Peter! Keep up the good work!!!

    Hmm, interesting. I've been noticing that moving my right hand slightly counter clockwise helps with compression but was struggling to work out the "correct" position. This tip with the knuckle may help make my grip position more consistent so will give that a go. That knuckle has definitely been under the grip for me up to now. Thanks for the video.

  • @Paul-lm5gv

    Interesting but I never heard you say anything abut the impact on the flight of the ball. Is this supposed to prevent hooking the ball with a strong right hand turning the club over too soon?

    • @PeterKnightGolf
      @PeterKnightGolf  7 месяцев назад

      It can certainly help prevent big hook shots. More generally it will give you better clubface control which is beneficial for all shots.

  • @simonjackson3743

    Peter, great video and explanation. I’m using a baseball grip, my left hand is reasonably good, I struggle with the right hand. You mentioned the pocket, this feels odd to me and my right hand ends up sliding around so I can grip more tightly. I thus have a tendency to hit left, I am so obsessed with my grip everything else can fall apart. ☹️
    Can you advise any practice drills I can do at home, as well as the muscle memory I need to build up.
    Love the channel.

      Hi Simon, he more you place your hands on the club the more quickly you’ll get used to it. Also practice making short swings monitoring grip pressure, ensuring it doesn’t tighten, especially on the takeaway.

    • @PeterKnightGolf

      There might be another video in my response. Essentially the difference is in swing path (mostly) and clubface. It is also harder to hit the fade with shorter clubs than it is with longer ones.

    Do you ascribe to have the crease of the right elbow pointing up? If the right hand is vertical, this is difficult. For the club to fold up at the top, what should I do?

    • @PeterKnightGolf
      @PeterKnightGolf  Год назад +1

      Yes. Each elbow points to its respective hip. You should have sufficient rotation through your forearms to achieve this. Most people can rotate their forearms through about a 180deg range.

    Hi, you may be able to help. I am right handed but play golf left handed so my dominant hand is my lead hand. With most golfers it is the opposite. I struggle to square up my club face on contact with the ball. Is there any help you can give me?

    • @PeterKnightGolf
      @PeterKnightGolf  2 года назад

      Hi Edward, I’m a left handed person who plays golf right handed, so I have the same advantage as you. Squaring the clubface should be about allowing the clubface to rotate sufficiently at impact. If it feels forced you’ll be inconsistent with clubface alignment. I generally keep a loose right hand. Yes, it provides the power.....but all the control and stability is in the left hand. My right hand hardly grips at all...and I do the overlap grip. The thumb and first finger grips...and rest is all loose. Even then, right hand just provides power and controls swing path.

    Grip is not a fundamental. Look at all the top pros of the world, they all hold the club differently. There is no ERROR. People need to quit talking about the grip like this, all you're doing is giving them complexes.

    • @PeterKnightGolf
      @PeterKnightGolf  11 месяцев назад +1

      The grip is definitely fundamental. There are presences in how the hands are linked and in the placement of the hands.

    • @eJunkee
      @eJunkee 11 месяцев назад

      Agreed grip is HUGE fundamental. Everything else is about manipulating swing around the grip to square face. For most people neutral grip is ideal. Unless you are Dustin Johnson and use a strong grip and bow it to hit fades! Yes pros have outliers but in general most have neutral grips that enables then to shape shots in both direction. Grips also applies to both hands, you can have a neutral left and strong right hand (which can mess things up). Best to be neutral with both hands.
