    My wife and I are also totally satisfied Raptor users who wholeheartedly recommend this product. A year ago we "bed lined" our newly acquired 1995 Dodge Ram 3500 extended van. As you stressed, the preparation requires considerably more time and effort than the actual application process. And, since we were undertaking the project entirely outdoors, we had to wait for the right weather conditions (temperature, precipitation, wind) to occur prior painting the prepped vehicle. (Additionally, although less exacting, the temperature and precipitation conditions must be factored in to accommodate the recommended 72-hour curing process.) Nevertheless, we could not be more pleased with the return on our investment. The Raptor's appearance, texture and durability exceeds our expectations. To be honest, we still experience a sense of surprised self congratulation every time we look at our now dove grey, turtle-topped former ugly ducking of a wheelchair transporter. So, from our perspective, even if you are a total automobile painting novice, you should not be intimidated; buy, beg, borrow or rent an air compressor and go for it! You just have to be a conscientious novice willing to follow simple directions like the ones in this video. 😂

    Really appreciate the ongoing updates. These are really unprecedented after 1 year...you usually just see a before and after, and maybe a few months later. Your color is light and less prone to fading, but I wonder how a product like 303 would look/protect over time.

    Man thanks for this video. Happy to see the results being solid. I am currently painting my bronco half regular paint and the bottom half raptor. Seems easy but I’m going to tape off for lettering prior to using the raptor liner. Any thoughts on how hard it will be to keep the raptor from chipping around the letters. I’m skeptical but maybe if I use 80 grit around the lettering it’ll stick. My end result is have raptor liner with glossy letters within the paint job. What are your thoughts?

    Only reason I went Linex is when my paint started failing I did not have a garage. I love the Linex, but you are correct, if you have a garage and a compressor, Raptor is the most economical method that will actually give professional results. My S10 will be getting Raptor as I now have a garage and compressor.

      Rustbelt Mechanic without a garage I was looking at going pro either way, so up here in the high altitude sun paint seemed like a horrible waste of money. I went that route back in 2006 with my S10. Clear coat was shredded in 18 months. So Linex was the better option. Now, had there been Raptor 2K aresols, I totally woulda DIY’ed it in my apartment’s parking lot back in 2015.

      They are applied with automotive 3M tape. Use a heat gun and a plastic putty knife to remove the moulding, and a 3M eraser wheel to remove the adhesive. There are cheaper eraser wheels out there, but none that I have found that last as long as 3M.

    Wouldn't it get dirty quick and easy and hold the dust and dirt, maybe not squirt off as easy, I have a Hiace van, the high roof and it cops the brunt of the weather and bird crap and I was thinking about this maybe thinned a bit so there isn't quite as much texture. I like how tough it is because the van being so high often gets trees scuffing on the roof somewhere.

    So I have a question for you!! I own a 2004 Silverado crew cab it's only a 1/2 ton, but it is my baby. I recently I have discovered a hole under the driver side front Fender underneath the main fuse block… I have patched the hole top and bottom side to keep moisture from entering the engine compartment. I have noticed this is a common spot for these fenders to rust out. I live in Michigan just North of you and I also live in the rust belt. My question to you is did you do the underside of your fenders with this product as well. You would have had to pull the inner Fender(plastic),to Achieve complete coverage. If you did not are you experiencing the same rust problem? I am strongly consider raptor lining my front and rear bumper as I have just replaced them at a cost of close to $700... ( me doing the labor) Also was considering replacing all my brake lines with a stainless steel kit, my mechanic buddy told me be better to use nickel copper because it's easier to bend and manipulate. ( your thoughts)However the stainless steel kit comes prebent. And of course if I'm doing the brake lines I'm going to replace all the brake hoses at the same time, it just makes sense. I have gone through and replaced all 4 calipers and completely bled the system. Just curious with having the same truck but yours being a 3/4 ton and a diesel and living in the rust belt,how You are dealing with the very common problems we all deal with living in the rust belt. Just went through and completely rebuilt the front end with new suspension. It is so tough to try to keep these rust free in Michigan.. I truly do like the look of your truck and it shows pride in ownership. Thank you for the video and thank you advance for your response.

      Thanks! No I did not remove the inner fenders to raptor line in and under that area. Instead when I removed my inner fenders I coated those areas with the product Fluid Film. My brake lines are still like new but when I helped my buddy captain Rob, we used the prebent stainless ones.

      I too live in the rustbelt and recently replaced the brake lines on my '06 ¾ ton. I opted for the stainless steel because they were all pre-bent. Hope you are able to correct the issue.

      Just PPG tint from an automotive paint store, in the factory color.

    2004 step side bed with plastic outer sides. Will it stick or fall off?

      All depends on the prep. It’s stuck quite nicely on my plastic fender flares.

    Did you just tint the liner material or did you also apply a clearcoat after you sprayed the raptor liner

    • @RustbeltMechanic
      @RustbeltMechanic  3 года назад +1

      Yes I used the tintable raptor and no I did not use clear on my truck. However in more recent videos I have been experimenting with clear over raptor

      @@RustbeltMechanic gotcha! So I work for a line-x franchise and when we do full coatings we typically apply the bedliner chemical first and while it's still hot apply automotive paint and clearcoat. A lot of LINE-X locations used to tint the chemical but it would fade to weird yellow and green colors. I'm interested in using raptor liner as the prep is easier you can just use tape and masking paper. LINE-X requires a whole different prep process

    Great stuff. Very nice. Did you Raptor line your door handles on this Silverado? I have an Avalanche that I am looking at the handles. They are faded and wipe on stuff only shines them up for a short amount of time.

      Nope I left those as normal plastic.

      I owned an Avalanche for 8 years and absolutely loved that truck. WIPE NEW was the best product I found for the cladding. However, now there are other great spray paint options for plastics as well.

    I sprayed mine in black using your instructions. Water doesn’t seem to head off as well as your video, but what’s more frustrating is when I wash it. I soaked in, scrub brush it, and pressure wash it off using a do it yourself car wash pressure washer. I ALWAYS end up with lines all over the hood when I use that pressure washer to clean it. Drives me insane. Every time I wash the truck, it looks botched.

      Really sorry to hear that man. Can’t say that I hear that much at all from people who say they’ve done it this way. Often though, many of the people aren’t doing the black, they’re mostly using the tinted with paint style.

    How did you get the Color changing in it

    • @RustbeltMechanic
      @RustbeltMechanic  3 года назад +3

      With the tintable raptor kits you just add 2 oz of paint tint to each bottle.
