I almost got this board but went with a b650 tomahawk. It’s my 3rd pc build but as being the first build with msi motherboard I really appreciate the bios, it’s easy to use
@@MuhammadTanveer-gw3ptdude I was in the same situation Here’s the rundown of MSI mobos to consider in the price range S wifi , P WiFi and Gaming plus WiFi are all same . Tomahawk is slightly better but not worth more than 20$ extra over the Gaming plus WiFi Get the cheapest board from the bunch ( usually S WiFi )
I too have this board, (MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI with 7800X3D). Looks good in black, works good, the SSD heatsink included is nice and the included WIFI is needed because any mid size graphics card, or bigger, blocks a lot of PCI-E ports on the board. I usually run an ethernet cable but WIFI helps if I take it to a buddies for a gaming weekend. Seems like some decent sized heatsinks on the VRM's as well, which is always good. I am pretty happy with this Micro-ATX version of this board.
Yo I can’t get the WiFi to work what did you guys have to do for that. All I did was screw the antennas in but I can’t get a connection on the computer
@@907chaosgaming2 If I remember correctly, I did have to connect my pc to a personal WiFi antenna and then the board's antennae did connect my internet even after unplugging the first one. Maybe try an ethernet connection first and then check if the mobo picks up a signal.
Solid MOBO and the 2.5g Ethernet and the wfif 6e features are fantastic ! DDR5 is also a must for my new builds. Price is right for sure. Great review Mike!

I have this specific board (paid 185€, no idea how this can be considered "budget", I would classify that pricepoint as midrange unless inflation has really taking me by much more suprise than I realized) and am a bit disappointed tbh. Despite an extremely fast NVME (SN850X), it takes 1:25 minutes to boot, and 1:44 minutes to restart. Integrated Bluetooth and WiFi are wonky, half the time I cannot make a connection. Once booted, everything else seems to work though. I tested on Bios 7E26v19 from 2024-02-07 and recently 7E26v1A from 2024-04-11, no improvements between the update. You can try to enable "Memory Context Restore" in the Bios OC settings, which roughly halves boot times but is not stable on for every ram kit, and still takes longer to boot than my 7 year old potatoe PC with a 50x slower drive. Bit meh.
Same bro i cant connect bluetooth and wifi is being annoying, its given me a lot of headache in the past 2 days im thinking of switching to the asus tuf b650 gaming plus wifi do you know if that one is good

sometimes if a video switches between patreon and members access that happens or if a membership expires that could also cause it. OR maybe kath was updating something on the video maybe, or even scheduling for general release
This is actually a twin to my Pro B650S WiFi, same spec, same slot positions, even the same BIOS id, they are both 7E26. Just a different heatsink style and no shroud over the IO
This motherboard supports gen4X4 M2 NVMe SSDs, but in the BIOS you can actually set it to Gen5X4 SSD. I dont know if that it is going to work or run an SSD with R/W speed of 10000 MB/s and over...

I didn't know about this board as I was looking for white boards, which I ultimately ended up getting Aorus Elite X AX Ice. But this one is nice, if I went for any B650 board this'd be in my radar.
Hi. I could be wrong, but to me other than the WiFi the B550 Gaming + looked and seemed to have better facilities....??? I had 3 of them over the years and I know you did too.... What's your view? At least it had a fitted Rear IO...!
the b550 gaming plus is a fantastic example of MSI at their peak. The B650 follows that tradition mostly, but like you said it really doesn't add much to the mix other than the chipset itself, wifi and some faster USB ports. this is definitely a good choice for AM5 in the sanme way that the B550 version is for AM4
I got this motherboard because it was in the micocenter bundle i bought, not my first choice but it is ok. Bundle deal was ryzen 7 7700x/msi b650 motherboard/32g ddr5@6000mhz for $399. I do prefer built in wifi though since its way faster. Clicking your link to this build this setup is $706.
@@mikesunboxing I thought so to, total build was $1300 after taxes, put a rx7800xt in it and I'm very impressed with it. My cinebench scores are slightly above stock since I undervolted and that gives you a 200 to 300mhz boost and the cpu runs much cooler. Think maybe yours was the undervolting video I watched. 👍
@@22progre77 yes, had to do a bios flash to the motherboard to get it to 6000. That is supposed to be a issue when these first came out that the board needed a bios flash.
Like this motherboard, for once M.2 doesnt compromise sata ports. Looks to have decent heat sinks and plenty of fan ports. As AM4 mbs seem to be few and not cheap this would be a good choice to get into AM5. Tempted but for me no gain as casual gamer and media use. Thanks Mike and Kath👍
it is all about knowing the boards abilities. It is unlikley that someone will get a budget board like this and then buy a 7950 and use it as a rendering machine. most will buy this for gaming and netflix etc, which even with the 7950 will be totally fine as most games don't tax the CPU like a cinebench run will. this board is well suited to it's price range and target audience. The name of the board even points that direction
Many people really are concerned if "budget" or "mid range" motherboards will afford those top processors and yeah you can even if u gonna mess around with some PBO. You could even put there top Ryzen 9 processor and it will work perfectly, it's just if u have that kind of money, you rather got for better mobos as well.
if the item is over £135 you may have to pay import duty if they declare the true value. Anything under £135 is taxed at the checkout. so it is possible that you might be forced to to make the purchase if under the thresholds
Being the same price, wouldn't the Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS be better? (I don't know the price in our countries... and I'm not talking about the Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI version that is in your other videos) By the way, great work on the videos! I really like the reviews

Overall most of the thing u use on AMD is PBO aka Precision Boost Overdrive. What this does? It's a thing for undervolting when meanwhile it boost clocks a bit. Most of times recommended is PBO Curve on Negative -30. It's the best to test it by AMD Ryzen Master on your system first to see if it will cause problems.
Hey, please help me. Got the MSI B650 Gaming Plus wifi motherboard with Ryzen 5 7600X, Corsair DDR5 RAM (2x16GB) 5600MHz CL36 and the cooler is a thermalright frozen prism water cooler. PC has been built but the EZ debug is coming up with a red and orange light on the CPU and DRAM. I have taken RAM out and fired up, have only used one slot of RAM and still got the same issue. Tried to losen off the cooler to see if that makes a difference. Pins checked under chip and all seem fine.
unless it is really old stock in should be included, but updating is very easy to do if needed. Check the production date on the box and compare that to the bios release dates

Bought one of these and a Lexar NM790 (with a heat sink) for my first ever build; I'm waiting for my 7500F to come in and im wondering if the heatsink that comes with my lexar would perform better than the frozr?
it will possibly be about the same, i would use the frozr to keep it looking OEM but try both and see which gives the better results, i'll be interested to hear about it if you do
I don’t even want to imagine how shit DDR6 will be. DDR5 already can’t do two sticks per channel without going down to DDR4 speeds, it’s terrible really and is just so finicky. Hey, built a computer with one of these recently and found myself lacking in storage. I already have a one terabyte NVME on the heatsync SSD slot but would rather not have to reinstall everything so just want to ask where/how I could implement another storage device, probably for storing other applications and what brand to go for and whatnot, if I can.
i would get another drive like the fikwot fn501 or the lexar ln710 those are often good prices and almost guaranteed to be reduced for the black friday deals.

I’ve unplugged all the power cables and replugged them in I’ve taken the ram out and put it back in I’ve taken the gpu out and put that back in The only odd thing I’ve found is when I hit the power button on the power supply I can’t find any leds on the motherboard that light up (yes I’ve checked if I have power, I can hear a slight buzz in the power supply when I turn the power supply on). I’ve tried the power switch on the motherboard or at least what i think it is I’ve checked manuals for it but this is my first build and I’m not sure if I’m getting the right pins. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated, thank you

Turn on Memory Context Restore and Power Down on enable, it's skipping memory training and boot should be around 20sec.

it is getting better with each bios update, but still a while to go until it is truly plug and play

@@mikesunboxing I thought so to, total build was $1300 after taxes, put a rx7800xt in it and I'm very impressed with it. My cinebench scores are slightly above stock since I undervolted and that gives you a 200 to 300mhz boost and the cpu runs much cooler. Think maybe yours was the undervolting video I watched. 👍

@@22progre77 yes, had to do a bios flash to the motherboard to get it to 6000. That is supposed to be a issue when these first came out that the board needed a bios flash.
Looking into this board, I've been seeing a concerning number of people reporting system stability issues
look into any popular boards on AM5 and you will find stability issues, trust me i have had a few of them and all have been unstable at times
Like this motherboard, for once M.2 doesnt compromise sata ports. Looks to have decent heat sinks and plenty of fan ports. As AM4 mbs seem to be few and not cheap this would be a good choice to get into AM5. Tempted but for me no gain as casual gamer and media use. Thanks Mike and Kath👍

it is all about knowing the boards abilities. It is unlikley that someone will get a budget board like this and then buy a 7950 and use it as a rendering machine.
most will buy this for gaming and netflix etc, which even with the 7950 will be totally fine as most games don't tax the CPU like a cinebench run will.
this board is well suited to it's price range and target audience. The name of the board even points that direction

Many people really are concerned if "budget" or "mid range" motherboards will afford those top processors and yeah you can even if u gonna mess around with some PBO. You could even put there top Ryzen 9 processor and it will work perfectly, it's just if u have that kind of money, you rather got for better mobos as well.

Overall most of the thing u use on AMD is PBO aka Precision Boost Overdrive. What this does? It's a thing for undervolting when meanwhile it boost clocks a bit. Most of times recommended is PBO Curve on Negative -30. It's the best to test it by AMD Ryzen Master on your system first to see if it will cause problems.
Hey, please help me. Got the MSI B650 Gaming Plus wifi motherboard with Ryzen 5 7600X, Corsair DDR5 RAM (2x16GB) 5600MHz CL36 and the cooler is a thermalright frozen prism water cooler. PC has been built but the EZ debug is coming up with a red and orange light on the CPU and DRAM. I have taken RAM out and fired up, have only used one slot of RAM and still got the same issue. Tried to losen off the cooler to see if that makes a difference. Pins checked under chip and all seem fine.

unless it is really old stock in should be included, but updating is very easy to do if needed. Check the production date on the box and compare that to the bios release dates

Bought one of these and a Lexar NM790 (with a heat sink) for my first ever build; I'm waiting for my 7500F to come in and im wondering if the heatsink that comes with my lexar would perform better than the frozr?
it will possibly be about the same, i would use the frozr to keep it looking OEM but try both and see which gives the better results, i'll be interested to hear about it if you do
I don’t even want to imagine how shit DDR6 will be. DDR5 already can’t do two sticks per channel without going down to DDR4 speeds, it’s terrible really and is just so finicky. Hey, built a computer with one of these recently and found myself lacking in storage. I already have a one terabyte NVME on the heatsync SSD slot but would rather not have to reinstall everything so just want to ask where/how I could implement another storage device, probably for storing other applications and what brand to go for and whatnot, if I can.
i would get another drive like the fikwot fn501 or the lexar ln710 those are often good prices and almost guaranteed to be reduced for the black friday deals.
Between the MSI B650 GAMING PLUS Wifi vs Gigabyte EAGLE AX or GIGABYTE gaming X Ax or the V2 which one do you recommend?? With upgradeability in mind. Also they are similarly priced in my place with just 15 dollars separating them

Contrary to what was said below, you CAN go wrong with MSI boards. Most recent example, they have come out recently with some crappy B650s.

I have this Mobo and just put together my build yesterday but it wont post at all. It lights up the CPU and dRam. I am using a ryzen 5 7600x and g.skill trident z5 neo RGB @6000 with CL30. Any help with why it wont boot would be greatly appreciated.
try one stick of ram only in slot 2 and if that won't work try the other stick in the same slot, you might have a faulty stick in the pairt

Thanks Mike! I love your live streams! This MOBO isn't bad, but the lack of a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot kills it for me, no way I over paid for a Crucial T705 4TB PCIe 5.0 M.2 to run it at PCIe 4.0 speeds. even tho I would not notice the difference 99% of the time.

Ive taken the cpu out looked at pins and it all checked out.
I’ve unplugged all the power cables and replugged them in
I’ve taken the ram out and put it back in
I’ve taken the gpu out and put that back in
The only odd thing I’ve found is when I hit the power button on the power supply I can’t find any leds on the motherboard that light up (yes I’ve checked if I have power, I can hear a slight buzz in the power supply when I turn the power supply on). I’ve tried the power switch on the motherboard or at least what i think it is I’ve checked manuals for it but this is my first build and I’m not sure if I’m getting the right pins.
Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated, thank you
