  • On March 23, 2021, a traffic stop was conducted on a speeding vehicle in Osseo, WI. While the officer made contact with the occupants, they claimed there was nothing illegal in the vehicle. When the K9 was deployed, she was alerted to the odor of narcotics. Police ended up discovering a rectangular shape object tucked inside a concealed area of the vehicle.

*The District Attorney that dismissed the case contacted me with the following info:*
"I objected to the motion to suppress, filed a written brief, and called the arresting officer to testify at the motion hearing. I argued that the officer’s observations (e.g. the short term rental, the unusual travel plans, the passenger’s efforts to hasten the conclusion of the stop, etc.) rose to the level of reasonable suspicion to believe that criminal activity was occurring. Thus, the extension to permit the K9 sniff was permissible.
Unfortunately, the judge disagreed. The judge found that the defendants’ most incriminating actions (the strongest reasonable suspicion) occurred after the “mission of the traffic stop” had concluded. The judge found that, prior to the officer reinitiating contact with the vehicle, the officer’s suspicions were “just a hunch,” and not reasonable suspicion. The judge granted Powell’s motion to suppress on the grounds that the officer did not have sufficient reasonable suspicion to extend the traffic stop beyond the point at which the officer completed his citations.
Because the judge suppressed the key evidence in the case (the cocaine), I had no choice but to dismiss the case. Based on the judge’s adverse ruling in the Powell case, I also had to dismiss Larkins’ case.
I write to let you know that my office didn’t dismiss these cases willingly. We fought to defend the work of law enforcement, and to hold these defendants accountable."

I have been pulled over dozens of times, and the word "cocaine" was ever mentioned by an officer, even in jest. I am a white middle-class person, so it didn't amount to anything, but any non-white person would be killed on site for not admitting they engineered 9/11, much less possessing some meaningless chemical. Legalizing all drugs without restrictions would solve this racism.

Sometimes that “alert” is a forced or mistake alert and if the investigation is not carried out properly it can be deemed as a forced alert to allow for search. Drugs weren’t found in the drivers side door they were found in the trunk. Just a guess but that’s what I saw that made me think immediately they would be dropped.

With the play comes the higher tone of voice so they know they did what they were supposed to do. It’s the paycheck the dog works for. It’s how they’re trained. They associate the odors with prey. They prey being a ball or a towel to tug on. The higher tone of voice is the praise you give them for finding the substance.

Pay your fine, let us do out unconstitutional search, it helps justify and pay for the police state. Plus the drug war pays for the people who matter, so what if it turned the U.S to the highest prison population in the world? So what if it created a lower class that will be affected for generations and untold suffering? So what if it destabilized entire countries that are now a cartel threat to travel through? Some pharmaceuticals, prisons, and government got a nice, extra cozy living, and the idiots push the narrative themselves now. What were they thinking LMAO! Don't transport drugs and not own your own car! Or personal jet! Silly poor people and their need to make a living and treat their conditions the only way they can manage.

There was no reason for this to be dismissed. Watching that body camera footage there was most definitely reasonable suspicion beyond a shadow of a doubt. Any cop would have done the exact same thing. That judge needs to be investigated.

Kinda seemed like he was fishing based on a hunch to me..
Case being dismissed could also mean a deal was made for him to rat and the dismissal is to protect him

@@westernpigeon no because once they don’t find anything in the bag they then ask to search the car and if he says no then it’s “suspicious” that he wouldn’t let them search the car but they could search the bag.
