- Hi everyone,
This is my collage for week 5 of the challenge being hosted by Margarete Miller this year ( see below for details, if the #2024CW challenge is new to you and/or if you’re interested in taking part).
The prompts set for this assignment were as follows:
1. ‘A sewing item’ ~ I used a stamped image of the top of a vintage cotton reel.
2. ‘Something your state or country is known for’ ~ The Uk royal family is iconic, so I chose a stamp showing the late Queen Elizabeth II.
3. ‘An item representing a childhood memory’ ~ One of my most endearing childhood memories is reading and being read to by my parents. It entrenched my love of literature, especially English literature and female authors like the Brontë sisters and Jane Austin.
4. ‘Something ornate’ ~ Churches the world over are frequently ornate, if not in their architecture, then their interiors or both. I often visit a simple little chapel, which looks, albeit charming, utterly plain and ordinary on the outside. But inside it has the most beautiful alter. I used a line drawing of that little chapel that is so deceptive to all outside appearances to hit this prompt.
5. ‘Something that starts with the letter ‘L’ ~ I used a letterpress print of
an Ex Libris book plate or label. I loved the calligraphy on it.
Bonus ‘ Something pink’ ~ Still trying to keep in with the British theme, I chose a beautiful watercolour image of pink English roses. (See below for the book details ).
Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed seeing this assignment come together along with my take on the assignment prompts too.
Hugs C xx

Every piece was lovely and bringing them all together even more so. Love the images and what each symbolizes.
Thanks so much Teresa. I was MUCH happier with this assignment.....lol. TFW and leaving me a lovely comment like that. Hugs C xx
Thank you for sharing how the colors coordinate or clash. 💜💜💜
You are more than welcome. Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment. It's always good to have feedback ( the good and bad...lol). Hugs C xx
Very pleasing to the eye beautifully done❤
Thanks so much, Linda. Kind of you to think so. Have to say I was much happier with today's assignment than the last one....lol. TFW. Hugs C xx
Beautiful! I especially like the Bookplate Curse!! I might have 'lost' fewer books over the years if that curse had been in it!
Bet you're right...lol. One of my friends bought me those as part of a birthday present years ago and they still make me chuckle whenever I come across them. Maybe I made her nervous the last time I lent her one of my books 😱 Hugs C xx
Looks fabulous ❤
Hi Helle, thanks so much. Bless you. Big hugs C xx
Beautiful Carol. I understand about how we normally do something. My collages are beginning to look a lot the same…but our style is our style. I find hard to do different.🥰
Ha ha I KNOW !!! I've finished assignment No. 6 today and once again I saw that diagonal collage style. I'm really going to have to try to stop that....lol. Hugs C xx
Beautifully done ... the images in that 'garden' series of books are just stunning aren't they. This page is definitely more 'you' ... TFS.
Yes, I definitely agree. Those books are really gorgeous. Can't believe they're so cheap when you find them too. The most I paid for mine was £3 and that included postage.... definitely worth it. Hope's all staying positive your end. Fingers well and truly crossed here. Big hugs C xx
@@oakhousejournals ... gee I wish we could get them that cheap over here, lol - I think I paid about $30 for the ones I have but they are worth every cent!
... I just know I'm going to need a bigger suitcase, lol.
Not a problem. Sherpa Maggie will help you carry it home and I'll get big brother to meet you at your end to carry the load. Perhaps get a couple of extra suitcases, ah ! But there is always the next goodie box that I can sneak one into for you. Hugs Cxx
💜💜💜
Thanks so much, Amy. Big hugs from me C xx
Quite lovely, as always. But I am sorry not to have a flamingo with a crown!
Ha ha maybe I should do another to try to get those items in.......lol. Thanks so much for watching. Hugs C xx
