Using the number brads for the vintage car headlights was the first thing that came to mind, it just took a little hunting to come up with the right car. But I found one in the end. Hi Chris, thanks so much for your lovely comment. It's kind of you to pop by and leave a comment. If I see or come across anything e.g. a label or an image etc. that I think might come up or could be useful for one of MMs assignment prompts, then I pop it into a couple of plastic, A5 wallets I have. I go rummaging in those at the start of a new assignment to see if there's anything of use....... So that's my starting point each week. If I don't have anything in the wallets, then I'll flick through my books to see if there's anything there that will work. If all else fails, I'll hunt on the Internet but more often than not I don't need to do that. When I finished one assignment, I left out the prompts for the next and I'll leave the prompt list out on my desk in the craft room. That way I can ponder all week on what pieces I can use for the respective prompts and also, if I have a couple of choices for a prompt, I can play with them to see how they will work with my other prompt choices. I'm so sorry, I'm not going to be much use to you. I did this tutorial four years ago and I don't recall the size of the actual book page I was playing with at the time.... probably about 8" x 5" but then I'd have chopped off the margins to get only the text showing. Basically you can make these with any size paper, so long as your piece of paper or book page is rectangular. Sorry I couldn't be more help Kathy. C xx

Oh brilliant Kathy. Paper in the bottom is a good idea if you're using them as little gift boxes etc. I use them in my journals as places to tuck away journaling cards. I've used them to hold seeds that I want to over winter ( the book page is great for wicking off moisture and keeping them fresh), I've done that in journals I've sold too or if sending as happy mail, to tuck in some stickers, labels etc. BUT you can use them for anything. Glad the tutorial was of use to you. I left the fabric outside until dry. There is no change in the results over time or so I've found. Those that I haven't used yet are still as they were when first done. No fade or deepening of the rust colour achieved. I've not tried doing this on clothing, just fabric that I wanted to embroider on. I have no idea how clothing would wear, once rusted. Whether the rusting process would affect the strength and integrity of the fabric and shorten its longevity. I also have no idea how rusted clothes will re-act with repeated washing in a washing machine and using detergents. Sorry I can't be more helpful on that front. Hugs C xx

Thank you so much Kimberley. Initially all I was coming up with for that prompt was a chicken ( that's what having bantams does for me...lol) but then I spotted that fluttery vellum piece and it was a good choice all round, certainly on the colour side of things. It really helps if I leave my next assignment out on my desk in the craft room. It gives me chance to ponder what prompt pieces I might use and I also get an idea of whether they'll work with each other too. Hope you're having a great week. BIG hugs C xx

Oh my goodness, Amy, thank you so much for that outstandingly kind comment. Bless you so much. I always know you're watching each week and it's lovely to have your company. It really is. There are many assignments that I don't get right, even after doing this challenge for the last three years! But I can honestly say I've learnt so much by tackling them each week and they are such fun. It's such a shame that MM doesn't do the challenge assignments each week along with us, as it would be fascinating to see her prompt choices and assignment compositions. I’m not sure yet if I will continue next year or not - 4 years may be my limit! 🥴 But whatever you decide to do, know that I’ll be there “watching”. Same for me too about next year. I believe MM will continue into 2025 but I'm desperately trying to resist the temptation of doing another year. My own projects get put to one side whilst I'm doing and recording her weekly assignments. I should concentrate on those and the new house, of course.
