I pre-burned for this. Tool really changed their own song here. I recommend listening to Led Zepplin, No Quarter, then listen to what Tool did with it. Amazing!
yes listen to the studio of it from Zep then the live from MSG 73 then Tools version each one has its own vibe LOVE THEM ALL....
And Stranglehold!
Yeah , cool rendition almost a new song and yes, no quarter is killer
Fuck yes! No Quarter
No question, best cover ever.
You definitely need to do their cover of Zeppelin’s “No Quarter”. Will blow your mind!
it is.. very good. very good.
Maybe you should do zeppelins original first then see how Tool made it their own
The live version of Third Eye is highly recommended as well...
Listening to Salival while high on THC is great....but listening to it on shrooms is a truly mind blowing experience...
Danny had an assist on this one in the form of special guest Aloke Dutta, a tabla guru who taught Danny how to use play tablas too. He has sampled the tablas and uses his amazing multi-zone electronic pads to play them with. See the trippy breakdown at the end of the Pneuma live video, I''m sure he's using some of them tabla samples there.
As for Tool's live stuff, a bunch of their songs have evolved in their live versions in amazing ways, usually with crazy breakdowns, or randomly Elvis lyrics ;)
Oh damn! Thats some deep reverence and respect between 2 musicians
You should hear what they did to LED ZEPPELINS "No quarter" same album.
Dudes the man, coffee and that kush to start an adventure. Amen hahaha
It’s a sick combo lol
Raw doggin' reality. The philosophy of Stoned Chakra.
I was gonna say that...lol
Raw doggin reality..that's a no thank you from me..lmao
Bro, RAW DOGGING REALTY.....That is the best shit i have ever heard
This guy definitely knows how to enjoy the magic and genius of Tool...
"Imma follow them instructions"... raw dogging reality.. yeah ill be back
lmao dope
I am gonna start 2022 with a joint and this song on my headphones, couldnt wish for a better start of the new year. ☺
I don't believe that the Salival album was released officially on any streaming service to date, so tracking them down on RUclips is probably your best bet these days. It was basically a rare released box-set from Tool, including live performances (1998), rarities and all of their official music videos at that point in time.
Track listing:
1. "Third Eye" (live)
2. "Part of Me" (live)
3. "Pushit" (live)
4. "Message to Harry Manback II" (Aenima album outtake)
5. "You Lied" (live) - [Peach cover, Justin Chancellor's band before Tool]
6. "Merkaba" (live) - [instrumental jam they would always play before Sober]
7. "No Quarter" (Aenima album outtake) - [Led Zeppelin cover]
8. "L.A.M.C." (Los Angeles Municipal Court) (Aenima album outtake)
9. "Maynard's Dick" (hidden track about 30 seconds after LAMC) - [Opiate era rare recording]
DVD/VHS (Music Videos)
1. "Aenema"
2. "Stinkfist"
3. "Prison Sex"
4. "Sober"
5. "Hush"
Alice in Wonderland has the same different stories as well. Down the rabbit hole so early in the morning lol
Never too early lol
I've been waiting patiently for this one. You made my Saturday complete bro. Everything on Salival is brilliant, but this might be the best live performance ever. MJK's vocals...immaculate. His voice just goes through you.
Oh... I gotta do the whole thing. you already know
That is some CRUNCHY BASS. Justin is killing it.
Crunchatize my Cap'n!!!
I only wish I could click like on this again each time I rewatch it....
i clapped when you made your dab announcement at the beginning of the video.
I had to get in my vulnerable place
Jimmy: P-p-p-p-pushit hahaha YES!!
One of the best episodes lmao
thought i was listening to the actual vid for a while till i looked down to see a man almost sleeping from relaxation on my screen haha
Hey I was following his instructions! lol
@@StonedChakra don't worry man, I forgot I was watching you only because I was doing the same as you lol
Yeah. Wow is right! Love this version. The vocals are so powerful and the drums are relentless
I've seen both versions live. If I'd never heard the studio version, I would appreciate the Salival live version more. As it is, they are both terrific, but the original version live makes me FEEL things.
🌟💖
WHile its not Tool, you should check out A Perfect Circles eMotive album. Its an album where each track is a "reimagining" of songs important to the band members. Their versions of Lennon's "Imagine" and Marvin Gaye's "Whats Going On" and Zepp's "When the Levee Breaks" is worth the price of admission by itself, but all the tracks are worthy.
Dab ready tool reaction 🔥🔥🤟🤟
the peter pan analogy was bang on and one i would have never come up with.
I try my best to help people understand where my mind goes lol
Each version is like a different point in his life. The first is like hes still in the relationship at his boiling point angry and hurt trying to end it before things get worse and the second is after its ended and hes relieved its over and realising it was best for both to just move on imo
One their greats! 🤘
“Coffee, OG Kush and Tool. What a combo!” -Guilty
same combo this morning lol
@@StonedChakra Pretty much any day that ends in Y my friend. Keep up the good work and SO look forward to seeing you rip through Salival and maybe some other live stuff like Stranglehold. :)
"these boys don't fail to disappoint" they do tho. They fail so bad at disappointment, I've never heard them succeed.
Goddamn it Julio..... I was HIGH when said that!! 😂😭💀
🤣😂
Bro, wait till you get to You Lied and No Quarter....Both are covers....both slam SO fuckin hard.....ugh. perfection.
U lied is sooooOoo good
This iconic and a true testament to the pure genius this band is . the golden ratio and the breakdown of mathematics in Fear is never going to challenged in the music world . They not only wrote this they re wrote it better and "Meet you on the other side?" Brilliant it is a wild album you lied"and' no quarter:" all are true testaments on how not only did they do covers to they made better songs , original songs sometimes are done better by a Tool moment! Hail tool , take me to your leader I didn't forget my pen..!
The "Salival" album wasn't released as such. It was part of a limited box set released in 2000, including DVD or VHS with their music videos, a book with photos and the CD with both live and studio songs. Check out their Led Zeppelin cover "No Quarter"- Please. Thank you. You're welcome!
oh it's happening
@@StonedChakra good decision 😉👍 I just recently subscribed to your channel and enjoy it very much. Tool fan from Switzerland here, enjoy your journey down the rabbit hole 👏
Much respect for the juicing Jimmy reference. Great episode haha.
I try lol
Journeyman, on route to teach the masters
There's two percussionists throughout this performance. The mid section has Aloke Dutta on tabla hand drums supported by Carey on the sticks.
“I want you to find a comfortable space, that’s not only comfortable, but vulnerable”. Every Tool fan: yup, I’m there….go on and destroy us Maynard
Love chakra your the best
Awww shit. LFG!
another 2 tracks I would highly request from this album would be "No Quarter" (Zepppelin cover) and "You Lied" a cover from Justin's (bassist) previous band
I'm doing everything off of Salival for sure
I think they had a guest bongo drummer on this one collabing with Danny... I think
I wouldn't have argued it if you said it was just Danny 😂
@@StonedChakra I only found this out not long ago, I was convinced it was just Danny as well. I've seen another video, I think it was an interview of Adam Jones. He said they had other musicians getting a sneak peek of their albums and they all say "was that all one take of Danny, no extra recordings?" and besides this live version, it's always one take
He is the Goat !! 🐐😂
Check out the trinity, disposition reflection triad, any good quality recording, or rearranging
Be careful with "Third Eye - Salival" , it's a portal. A dark one
He will be OK aslong as he thinks for himself and questions authority... Id say thats a given with SC
Fuckin right!!! Best comment I've seen in a while 🔥🙏🏾
@@StonedChakra thanks, you will see why when you do third eye salival live
Yessss! I like the Salival version way better than Album version
Well i WAS doing work for a client but, I guess its break time. :0D
One of my favs. 🔥
love it
StonedChakra check out Puscifers and APC remix albums. Maynard in Electronica, HIP HOP, and Dub Step. 🤞✌
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa??? like official?? Where??
@@StonedChakra yes official remixes. 2004 APC "aMotion", 2008 Pusifer "V is for Viagra-The Remix", 2009 "D is for Dubby-The Lustmord DUB Mixes", 2008 "V is for Vagina (Deluxe Edition)", 2013 "All Remixed Up" just to list a few. Puscifer has 21 Albums/EPs. On a majority of their albums Maynard has a few remixed tracks but the albums listed above are all remixed songs.
aMotion and V is for Viagra-The remixes are the two best in my opinion.
"Queen B" and "MAMA Sed" HiP Hop remix 🔥.
i remember waiting for this box set to come out. I was a senior in high school and SALIVATING for a new tool album since it had been a while since Aenima came out that point. I downloaded this off of napster lol. it took me forever on 56k dial up XD i was so excited after hearing it. I rushed to buy it at my local Borders RIP. I listened to it over and over and over for months!
That's how I felt about Mesmerize from SOAD
@@StonedChakra oh nice I love system of a down! :)
round 2.20 you saying you gonna have a dab now made me go straight to my pipe :)
I stumbled upon this track one night at home in Edinburgh, having been a tool fan since 1994, I don't know when but maybe round 2008, and I heard the first bit and I was like stop!! Got my pipe on........
I am so going to enjoy watching you feel this for the first time :)
peace
Reverend stoned chakra
Great version of this song. Whole live album is great, this was a two disk album. One all live music, the other was a dvd of all of the music videos that they had put out up to that point. Awesome album!
To wake and bake or not to wake and bake...I know the answer! 3....2.....1.....Spiral Out...
As long as I have Tool, I dont need a dab
interesting interp....Can say I haven't even thought of that one. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that maybe you have never had a love/hate relationship with someone where it comes to a point where no matter how hard you try to resist going back because it's toxic, you do. And this is the point where you also know that the only way to make the push and pull stop is to really hurt the one you love, or it will never end.
this a good one
this is an amazing live performance...fo sho...maynard in the zone...the one he seems to always be in...they are just top notch...I love the way they changed it up...almost unrecognizable from the original...so good
haha Jimmy on south park...
you really dont want to start smoking weed too early. I've seen people that start smoking at like 12 or some shit and their brains are fried
Good thing I can't go back in time then lol. yet... 😂
I have been waiting...we tried to tell you what the difference was.
But you must experience it for yourself..like the pneuma drum cam...
From a sober stoner I say go for it. Only sober because a have a CDL and am making that paper for now. I'll be with you in a few short yrs.
Phonetically speaking, there are 2 ways one might pronounce this Box Set... Suh-LIVE-uhl [get it....Live...heh] or SAL-ivuhl. I would say the first is most accurate to Tool Canon. :0d
And Away we gooooooooooo P.S. Now you should watch a live shot of this song...I highly recomend Lewiston, ME 98. His vocals and body language are otherworldly. Powerful.
who can take one of their own top tier badass songs and make it even badasser.... TOOL.. that's who!
Man I hope you do No Quarter next!!!🤘🔥
They were experimenting with a lot of the things that would end up resulting in what became Lateralus on this album
I like it!!!!
@@StonedChakra the crazy thing is from the time Danny agreed join them and Tool officially forming and writing and recording the opiate EP and writing and recording Undertow for which sober was only existing song were talking 1 year. So they got together got a record deal immediately and recorded 2 albums in a year or a lil over and now the last 3 have been 5 years, 6 years and 13 years lol
Funny enough I just did a TOP10 fav Maynard band albums and Salival was #3 of TOOL mostly cause of this amazing track!!
I had edibles...gron 2:1 50 mg thc 100 mg cbn ..if you haven't tried I recommend...it's maybe too chill to do a podcast on...but for when you wanna just chill...
I haven't had edibles in forever
This album was special…. You gotta give em all a listen. This songs is different from the Studio Version. So I hope you have already listened to the original
Yes sir!! Even bought the physical album! I haven't done that in years lol
@@StonedChakrabetween 1998 and 2001 I must have purchased the AEnima album 11 times 😂
Sweet b biceps haha
itSALIVALbum
Would be cool if you listen to some 'Stoner Metal' songs. Fits well with the channel name.
Eletric Wizard, Sleep, Bondzilla, are some of the greats bands in this genre.
Yes yes seen zilla live on my 21st birthday during their gateway tour in Glasgow. Smoked with em backstage before the gig too. Don't forget kyuss and orange goblin in ur stoner rock/sludge =)
Bongzilla... Greenthumb kyuss demon cleaner electric wizard wizards of gore or chrononaught down lifer
Oh hell yeah, now you gotta do "No Quarter" it's a must, and from the same Salival al um. However, listen to Led Zeppelin's original verion first. And yes, the higher the better. 😎
I think I'm the only TOOL fan alive that prefers the original. Still good tho.
Jelly. Allergic to weed. 😭
You lied!!!!
3rd eye, you lied, and no quarter are the other top songs from this album
