I’ve been a Tool fan for a long time. Props to you for immediately spotting the toxic relationship dilemma in the lyrics. I’ve always loved this song (especially this version) but it took a couple of bad relationships along the way and some random revisits to this song for the lyrics to actually hit home
same here i didn’t really listen to the song when i first heard it but when i started applying the lyrics and music to my own life it sounded so much better

I love your attention to detail and understanding and enthusiasm on a first listen. Keep doing more Tool and you catch all my likes. The song Invincible is a good workout song for me. Undertow, Eulogy, H, and every other song they have is endless. If you don't see a lyric video, just use studio track and lyrics pulled up on phone. We all know the words but you can read them out for those who may not. It's most effective sound quality and focus. Now I sound like a nerd. Keep it going!

I'd say your spot on with the theory. Toxic for sure. The studio version of this song is awesome, but I think this version is the best. It hits so much harder, with an emotion that the studio just doesn't have. At least I think so

Just my opinion, and I have no evidence to back this up, but I think this is about Jui-Jitsu training. The singer is really into it. I think he's making it sound like an abusive sexual relationship.
I read an interview with MJK a long time ago and he actually said that the song was originally about that but that he thinks it means different things to different people, and that he kept it vague enough so as to leave it to the listeners interpretation.
