If you had told me how big Tool would have been back in 97/98 I would have laughed, love that the world is getting to hear what me and only a relatively small group of people were hearing back then.
(when I say small, it was a lot of people, but nowhere near the amount that know about them today)
Saw them in much smaller venues back then in 98 for my first time and it literally changed the way I look at music and art in general. I’m 43 now and still loving them. These guys are the truth for sure.
True story. Each album was exponentially better than the last and the growth of the band from Opiate to now is just crazy.
And I'm a little more OG than you, saw them live in 93 and was hooked from first listen.
Went out and bought both albums that week

The great news is that what you just heard never gets old. All songs are a mind explosion and for years you will still pick out things you didn't hear or interpret the lyrics to fit your current situation. They are not on the radio because the radio requires songs be 4 mins or so to get so many per segment between sponsors. Tool needs more breathing room than radio. Good reaction.
