Listen to it again and again. I have heard every Tool song hundreds, if not thousands of times, and Pushit is my favorite song from any band. The complexity, the way the music conveys the feeling of the lyrics, Maynard’s angelic and aggressive singing, and the atmosphere created by Adam, Justin and Danny all combine to create this masterpiece. While I love the studio version, I think the live Salival version is better.
It's hundreds, let's be real
I got to see a live version of this song in Denver back in January and of course it was the dopest thing I've seen at any concert TOOL absolutely Killed it. Best damn live performance I've ever witnessed PERIOD.TOOL IS FOREVER!!!
We’re losing him guys…he’s getting into his head a bit these last 2 songs. Keep giving it a shot…
Pushit is Tools finest song 100%
Yes, please listen at least a few more times. This is also one of my faves by my beloved Tool. Appreciate the reactions my man.
I remember me laying on my bed, headphones on and falling into this symphonic piece of music back in the early 90s.... good times...
It wasn't out in the early 90s
96, ok not really early, but tool songs are all symphonies in a way! 😏
To me the key line in this song is "There is no love in fear." That works in so many ways and it is always right.
Underrated comment and analysis right there.
This hits differently if you read the lyrics. Especially if you've ever been in a toxic relationship. I don't know why people say "Salival version is better". Both versions are perfect in their own right.
Agreed on all points. I don't know which version is better. They are both in my top 10 (which has about 25 songs 🤣)
I prefer the studio version.
@@tiges1972 Same
I never really cared for this song when i first heard it but after listening to it a few more times and especially after hearing the Salival live version, it's one of my absolute favorites. The story Maynard tells is very cathartic and beautiful, but a little dark and eerie as well which is IMO one of the reasons it resonates so intensely with me
Seeing this live was one of the greatest moments I’ve experienced!
To this day I get choked up a bit when they get to the "...and when I say I might fade like a sigh if if I stay." part. Epic song.
Seeing this live on the latest tour was an absolutely hypnotic, mesmerizing experience. Tool are some mind warlocks, especially live.
it was worth the ticket fee alone.
Maynard cocked up the I must persuade you another way line in Manchester
@@Stringer13ell oh and there was us thinking it was good when clearly we had witnessed a sub-par at best performance from keenan his heart clearly isn't in it any more stick to your wine and your pop career.
@@eyemoeba you that know that stereotype of Tool fans being insufferable p r i c k s ...
I wasn’t ready for this track when I heard it for the first time. Trust me, listen to this one a few more times, you will start to hear more things. Also, knowing what this song about takes it to another level. And the sound of the guitar, bass, drums, & vocals are on a level of their own. I have never heard sounds like that from this instruments & the riffs & grooves are something only Tool could come up with. Keep rockin’ brother, I love your Tool reactions!!! 🤘🏻
This was actually my introduction song to Tool. A friend put headphones on me and said, "Listen to this." and pressed play. I was speechless, it literally blew my mind. It did it again, when I first heard it live, like 2 years later. Since then Tool is and will be forever my fav. band.
@@ingobordewick6480 The live version from Salival is even better imo. It's stretches out the emotional ride and adds to it immensely.
@@nobodysmith8580 I'd say it removes from the emotional ride.
I remember when I first heard this song. I wasn't that into it. Then I listened to it again and picked up some stuff I didn't hear before. Then I listened again, and again, and again. After many years of listening, I can confidently say this is not only one of my favorite Tool songs, but one of my favorite songs of all time. I say give it another chance. You may be surprised how much it grows on you. Also, I would recommend checking out the lyrics and reading along while listening. It's truly some poetic, powerful stuff, like most of their songs.
Trust me. After 2 or 3 times you will love this song. Turn off the lights put your headphones and enjoy.🙃
Such a hauntingly beautiful but terrifying song to me. The live version off of their Salival album is worth a listen. Composed differently; almost like a completely different song but still so, so good! While you're at it...check out "No Quarter" off of the Salival album as well. It''s an epic cover of a Led Zeppelin song that just builds and builds and builds!
i love this song......" it will end no other way..... it will end no other way"
That's The Baptism Of TooL for you right there. Took me years to finally be able to relax while listening to that one...
One of the flagships of Aenima album. For me personally, this track took my mind to places I couldn't expect. Deffo one of my top favourite TooL tracks of all.
And Maynard's vocals on that one...I could go for ages...
I'll just enjoy the rest of the video... Bless
TooL will "...push you somewhere you don't wanna be..." 🌀🤘🌀🤘🌀
I’ve been listening to Tool since I heard the EP in a friends truck back in ‘92…this song, it’s difficult to have an absolute favorite, but this one is mine. Took me years to fully appreciate it. Lyrics and music are genius level.
This song is a lot more effective when you have lived the experience he's referencing. A very tumultuous relationship.
The music reminds me of an all-day argument. Sometimes talking, sometimes screaming.
Find the lyrics to this if you have some time and maybe listen to it while reading. The lyrics correspond with the music they rise and fall almost in unison of the story.
Yes ! Thank you that's it 🔥✌️
A masterpiece in every way
Everyone below has said the same thing, a lot of Tool's longer more complex songs I was not ready for but the more i listen the more they hit and the more I grow fond of them. Perhaps they grew on me "as pain allowed" as this song and so many others have grown with me as I have grown through my trauma.
My all time favorite song, thanks Staxx
👌🖤
A fucking masterpiece of a song!!!
This song is the definition of replay value.
"uuuh! the drums! ... the guitar!....the mix!" delightful reaction lol.
i would say that this recording of this tune is as dense a sonic experience as you can get with Tool: the guitar buzz like cicadas open up the sky and then smothers you; the breakdown is beautiful and build back up amazing; we have one of the greatest examples of Adam's ability to create captivating long solos (this is almost an anti-solo, and gets even more kudos from me because he never once lets loose with any technique, just choice notes and a brilliantly composed section),;and the ending hits a proper crescendo and rocks like a mf. I give it a 10.
Fav Tool song ever. You def have to listen again when vegging with your fav buzz and the lights off. Chills bud. Incredible track.
Exactly ☺️
This is one of those tracks that will reward repeated listenings. I didn't get into it on my first listen either, but it's certainly worth revisiting a few more times. PLEASE consider reacting to the live recording of this song from the 'salival' album. It's an alternate version, and deserves a reaction in and of itself from it's sheer quality. Plus you can compare the two. Anyways thanks for reading this if you did. Cheers :)
Great to see you listen to this one. It grew on me as it were and has become one of my favourite Tool songs and definitely my favourite from the Aenima album. Technical listening, I agree and a fantastic musical interlude with both Dani and Adam each having their solos with Justin hanging in there with that consistent groove to hold it all together. It’s really amazing how threefold musicians produce such a full sound.
Now do the alternative version from Salival Live album.
Heard this live for the 1st time a couple months ago. What a blessing!
“Rest your trigger on my finger. Bang my head upon the fault line” I mean come on, it just doesn’t get any better than that lyrically.
This song is one of their best. The live version from the Salival EP is... well, even better.
Now you have to hear pushit live which most Tool fans will tell you is way better and totally different 😜
Sean with the toolgasm face💚
Yes. It's a must listen
This is probably top 3 Tool songs for me. Checkout the live Salival version. It's a cover of their own song and they change it up
You play Tool…& you know I’m here. 😎👊
💯💪
This is one of the most under rated song from Tool ever. This song is one of many Tool songs that honestly takes me there. It is so beautiful considering what the song is about and what the lyrics mean. I believe it is about abuse. This is one of my favorite songs from Tool. Top 5 for me.
With regards to needing to study their music…
Music historians will study Tool as a genre in the future.
Having the lyrics on this song to guide you through the musical journey is a must. Haunting.
Oooooooo! This is a gooder! An emotional roller-coaster
Well worth the wait 😉 Keep absorbing 🛠T⚙️⚙️L🛠🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🤘😵💫👽
There's a live version on RUclips of this song where a fan jumps on stage and maynard judo tripps him and takes his back and holds him down for most of the song all while singing and not missing a beat. Towards the end, he mounts him and acts like he's riding him. It's pretty crazy how well he sings while doing that.
👏👏👏👏
Wings for Marie part 1 and 2!
Love your Tool reactions. Thankyou
Glad you vibin! 🤘
Great song
#ToolArmy
PLEASE Please please... put this one in your playlist, at least for a little while. Give is several listens. Tool also 'reimagined' this song...and came up with a completely different version of this song, which they perform LIVE... on the Salvial album :)
This is also one of the songs that once you listen to the lyrics, will move you at the soul level. I do not mince words or exaggerate when I say that this song literally saved my life. A tale I will share for those who want to listen
Ok i will listen to this more ESPECIALLY with the lyrics 👌 music definitely can be very powerful…I’m ready
love the muisc reactions, especially the tool ones, i'm hear for em
🙏🖤
As others have mentioned, the more you listen to theirs songs the better they get. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you labeled any of them as having no replay value until you listened to them at least a few times. Pushit is one of the ones that grew on me and now it's one of my favorites.
Just imagine listening to the song one time and then literally going on the Internet and telling the world I’m not gonna listen to it again.. all the nuance of this song did you even listen to the lyrics..you’re just good with it…I’m not gonna listen to it again…holy cow
Morning my dude, thanks for dropping this reaction.....Spiral Out, Keep Going 🤘.....
Good morning ☕️ glad you enjoyed it 🤘
@@SeanStaxxMusic oh yeah I enjoyed it...TOOL is my #1 band..... they're my therapy
💯 my favorite TOOL song
Very powerful song!
Got me for sure. 🎶.
Listen again... and again. I promise, it will grow.
I could probably write a several page paper on this song, being entirely serious. lol. This is a song about someone in an incredibly toxic and abusive relationship, who hates what the relationship does to him, but feels powerless to escape it, and is very very much not in a good headspace. Notice how at the beginning of those songs there's those little buzzing noises in each ear kind of like insects, which to me at least indicates that the person in the song isn't entirely in his right mind. That motif continues pretty much throughout the entire song, especially in the middle passages, until right near the end as the singer comes to the realization that there's no way out of this relationship, and he shouts out "there's no love in fear!" After that point, everything is crystal clear, ending up with the decision to end the relationship by *any* means necessary.
As others have said, you should now listen to the live version from the Salival album, as it's done as a completely different view of the song and is *very* different, despite the bones of the song being the same.
I actually have a really personal connection with this song. The very first time I heard it was at one of the earliest of Primus' annual NYE shows, back in 1995/96, where Tool was an opening act that played an hour+ long set that night. The amazing thing about that show was that fully half the songs they played were from off of this album, AEnima. The thing is, that was NYE 95/96. AEnima didn't get released until *September* of 1996. So that show was a full *9 months* before the album dropped, so we were literally some of the first people, *anywhere* to hear those songs. Then, even after Tool got done, we still had 90+ minutes of Primus to look forward to to ring in the new year. Best show I've ever been to. If anyone is interested, someone actually put a recording of that show up online here on RUclips. Video quality is ass (not surprising for 1995), but audio is quite listenable, though not great (again, 1995. lol) Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/t_nFCRJ4rqg/видео.html
Wow just wow awesome 🔥✌️
Definitely check out the Salival version. So good!!!
That's why they call Danny the octopus. And if you go back and check out the drum cam for Pneuma, you will see that in the middle of the song when he was playing his melodic sort of solo, he was playing 4 different rhythms at once. One on each limb. Serious limb independence.
That’s absolutely insane 🤯
You gatta know it better to be able to get the gratification.
Pushit will be there waiting for you when you needit.
Oh!
One of my all time favorite bands. Mesmerizing to listen and amazing to see live performance.
And this song, goes seamlessly into the next song. I always listen in order. Now, need to go listen to the entire CD. Thanks
Now listen to the live, slowed down version of Pushit off the Salival album....straight fire! Oh yea, I happened to be in the GA crowd at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland,OR for the live recording that went on that album. When he said during the intro..."we want you to shut your eyes and go there, and we'll meet you on the other side"...I was already there.
This one much like the rest is about portraying the story of what Maynard is singing about in this song. The back and forth the choas and the coming down.
I'm so surprised to hear how many didn't like this their first time. It immediately sucked me in.
For your next TOOL song, you have to do "Rosetta Stoned". Think of it as prog metal rap?
I did that one 👀
Do a reaction vid on Salival, a “secret” VSH/DVD album, they have covers from Led Zeppelin, Peach (ex bassists band) and a live version of this, they kind of made a new meaning for this song too
Please do third eye. Salival video. You will be blown away by the performance
Salival version. Now. Stop reading this comment and get listening! 🤘🤘
Salival version bud.. its most visceral performance ive ever heard of anything
Pleaseeee do 3rd eye next
Danny is the poly rhythm master.
Big facts
Could you react to Fame on fire? Any of their song is gas but Welcome to the chaos - their album name too- is my fave. 😍
I prefer the live version on Salival! Favorite song either way.
pushit no push it
Have you reacted to.the live version off salival? You should react to that por favor
You got to try Ticks and Leeches by Tool..
On the way 📝
I have a hard time Patting my Tummy and rubbing my Head at same time 😂
😂
Try No Quarter by Tool
Check out the live version of this off of Salival. So good 😊 A lot of people like it better, I think I do, and I think you might. They basically remix their own song.
Bruh, trust me, EVERY Tool song has replay value. If I didn't listen to half their music more than one time, then I would have missed out on what would eventually become some of my favorite songs. The first time I heard their last two albums I thought most of it was pretty "meh" (instrumentation and vocals notwithstanding) on my first playthrough. Sometimes you don't really "hear" a song until you've listened to it a few times, and in different frames of mind.
Yes thank you 🔥✌️
CAN you REACT to Gojira live ?
Everyone is now going to say you must do the salival version of this song. Some say it better but I like them both about the same. You will like it and it's live but produced. Enjoy the ride..
Imagine being exposed to this song and saying I’m not gonna listen to it again? Ok bye Felicia
Please please review Win Again by Nicki Minaj !!
On the list 👌📝
But I'd trade it all for just a little ..peace of mind
H. Is the best ont the record this is a close 2nd then 46&2
Save all the trouble, I know why y’all are here. 8:56
Read the lyrics and your view may change
Try Tool Third Eye Salival (video version) next.

Blabla live version from salival blabla
Just thought i'd beat the comment section to it
You got a lot out of one listen!
