Collin, that was some fine parts cleaning work! It's not a glorious part of the job, but it is necessary.
I was thinking the same thing. Nice work Young Man!
Agreed, now sell them on eBay and call Clifford performance and order new ones more compatible with the new engine.
Matt you’re a great leader. You have a lot of patience and educate your team well when working but you don’t get angry and you somehow manage to run a shop while not being an asshole. Props to you I really see you as a great example of how a team should be run
Finally, after watching your videos for a year, I got the chance to pull someone out of a difficult situation. The things I've learned from watching yall helped and we had them out in no time. Thanks MORR!
I like Matt's approach to designing his vehicles, there is a legendary Latin term for it known as; "Wing Imus Maximus".

"Whoops there goes another harbor freight drill" is the best, truest song ever sung.
Both my father and step-father were aircraft machinists. I have thusly acquired a lifetime supply of good quality drill bits of every conceivable size. As a consequence, I own maybe 4 Harbor Freight drill bits (step bits that work great). My drill bit life is good.
@@watcherofwatchers can't knock the h.f. step bits for their cost
@@danbrooks8241 I wait until the indexes are on sale, then I buy 4 or 5 of them, and I take all of the bits out of the indexes and store them in a small bin with many drawers. I do buy quality bits from time to time, but for 99% of my drilling, the H/F bits work just fine.
Whoops therès a lovley press drill/milling machine just there..with a vice...Naw!
@@danbrooks8241 Those HF step bits are legit.
Something tells me that Matt’s whole life has consisted of using the wrong tool the right way to get the job done, and I admire that.
it also works using the right tool the wrong way
Americans only seem to possess adjustable spanners (wrenches) must be the lack of 13/32nd spanners.
Haven’t watched every video here but I’ve yet to see that Bridgeport used. Definitely a lost opportunity for it right there. Love the vids, though.
Wouldn't the wrong tool automatically be the wrong way?
I love that Trevor has upped his his game as the camera man and added more heckling from the background
Cameraman heckling is an underappreciated fine art!
Trevor is the big secret hit of the show , glad you're back in action !
Matt: "Who's a good boy"
Max: *Not me, I don't get taken along any more...*
Poor Max but still a good friend.
Bad Dog!😒🙄 Dangerous making Ed chase down a dog in 95°F+ weather after towing the customer. Need to keep the team cool. Those emergency waters in the Banana used to be for customers who were stuck overnight, not lost doggy rescue. 🤦🏻♂️
I love everything about this channel and all involved, but I absolutely could not ride in the back with the dogs panting on me 😂

Matt appears to be a born teacher. Not only for his crew, but for his audience as well, the way he explains things into the camera, talking directly to us. I see others try, but no one does it as well as Matt!
Excellent.
The tie rod end to help stabilize the dual joint steering shaft is genius. Eliminates the common problem of one of the joints binding up

The Taking of the wrench from Rudy at 10:20 was priceless
Plan C: paint Rudy's Jeep with yellow blotches and call it "The Plantain" and send it on the mission
brings back memories from 1970,s. Machining up engine to gearbox adapter sandwich plate . no CAD in those days .. just a compass and some decent eyeballing .
I have found Harbor Freight offers Two grades of Drill Bits, Wire - Soft and Extra Brittle.
You mean they've stopped selling the "blunt on sale" range now?
Sharp enough to get you out the door
Harbor Freight drills are fine, it’s not their fault they don’t make idiot proof drills. Both of those drills that THEY broke would have been just fine if they had them in a drill vise and using a drill press at a low rpm. Also a little cutting fluid helps a lot! Both of those drills can be re ground if any of those knuckleheads knows how.
@@waynerainey2606 I've literally seen a Harbor Freight drill catch in a hole and the twist un-twist and the flutes straighten out. Harbor Freight drills are not fine. lol
@@waynerainey2606he wrote drill BIT my friend not drill. on that note, they are pricey but I have had great success with there cobalt drill BITS, it's like $75 dollars but they work well.
I am absolutely loving this way more casual format with lots of random behind-the-scenes stuff.
“Cut it to length, beat it to fit and paint it to match “ was my old motto. Works pretty good!
Thank you for the longer vids... Doesn't have to be anything special. You always do more doing than explaining. Thats always a plus. No matter what it's always good to have an inside look in the Matt's offroad recovery GARAGE of custom engineering.😃
Hey Winder Crew,
How can ya not have a good day after watching this video ?
This is a really great crew !
Matt has assembled a really fun, energetic, hard working bunch of people who work well with each other and get the job done.
It is a pleasure to watch their videos !
Thanks to Matt and crew.
"Looks" like Matt needs to borrow Paul's eyecrometer for an afternoon.
😜
My thoughts exactly 🤣🤣🤣
This custom build would make the best craftsmen proud for sure.
This is the way to do it all in America... thats the comment of a german, which worked in America.
Great job...
You guys should record that song. It was pretty good. In the background just have a track of snapping drill bits, ding included.
I got schooled by an old guy when I accidently called a cylinder a ram. The look on his face when he said "a ram is one way and a cylinder is push pull". He was a lift installer by trade and very good at it. Me I was just help learning a lot and aggravating him well. lol Good video !
I really love this family type work environment! Super dope. Everyone goes to lunch together!? I hope my company can adopt this kind of morale/attitude and find good hearted employees like this.

YES! Main Street Cafe. The folks who run it are fantastic and the food is even better. If you are ever in Hurricane, you will not be disappointed by a visit to the Main Street Cafe.
Just being 100% honest 🙏
Would love to hang out with you guys around the shop just for one day, and go on a recovery mission. God bless you guys ✌️stay healthy, stay strong 💪 and keep up the great work.
❤️ big fan .. LETS GO CHAMP!!
This Channel is such “A Trip”!! AN AWESOME group of folks.
I second that !
You wouldn’t think so if you had a life of your own instead of cheerleading someone else’s. I’m glad I have Adblock installed. I already have to fast forward through so much of the munsters do towing, I’d hate to have to Fast forwArd through a bunch of ads too.

@@waynerainey2606 I have read several of your comments, and every one of them is in poor taste. The one where you insulted Matt's wife was just uncalled for. You must have a very unhappy life. I disliked every one of your comments. It is a shame that they don't show up.
Has a nice milling machine and probably a drill press. Uses screw driver to drill 8mm holes in solid steel bars.
“Lay off at the gym, Rudy!” Funny comment, Trevor. 😂😅🤣
This has quickly become my favorite channel and I love watching what these awesome folks are gonna do next. God bless ya'll! Preciate ya!
"A Stabbing in Hurricane" a new mystery novel from Matt's Off Road Recovery.
clever, I liked it.
Or it could be a reference to the heritage of the 4.0L ... It was developed from the Hurricane from the Willy's days . . . . Hmmm
This channels so wholesome he just went over about how there's a time crunch now and they needed to get a lot done in a short while. Then next part is all of them having a nice dinner with family and Friends 🤣
The winder towing crew is the most funny fabrication youtube group. Not the jokes they try to make, just unintentionally.
“Whoops there goes another harbor freight drill” 😂. I laughed entirely too long at that 😆.
Also, I’ve really enjoyed watching the Jeep up grade. Keep up the good work crew!
dont tell me their cheap... i bought a ste of harbor frieght tools and my dad laughed at me saying they cheap 😂😂
it solved like 40+ jobs already and hasnt broke yet!
When HF has those tool disposal sales, at first I thought they were advertising that their tools were disposable. 😄
Hi Matt, Invest in a Drill Doctor. They work great and you can sharpen broken or dull drill bits in minuets and get back to work. No trips to buy more bits. You can sharpen them all the way down to the end of the flute. Saves big time and money!!!
Here's a big thumbs up from a ZJ owner in the UK. 👍 🇬🇧
Can we all just appreciate how buff Rudy got??????????
“We’re trying to do a good job” and then cut to Matt beating on stuff with hammer 😂 😆
Claw Hammer at that?
As a carpenter, I have indeed done some mechanic'in with my claw hammer.
@@jfraz3570 he explains in another video that claw hammers are preferred for fabrication because you're always prying, tweaking etc.
This is for Lizzie, learn as much as you can about how a vehicle works and how to repair one. You make this channel complete. You whole team is so great to watch.
Almost 65 and helped over 20 years in my husbands garage, it was his " hobby" but now I find my self gravitating towards auto repair instead of decorating my living room. Funny how that goes. So learn as much as you can. 🤗
I married a girl like you. She was rebuilding her eng (with help of neighbor) when I met her in High school. It's been a great life!
This was good stuff. I love going back and watching these old classics. Your guys engine shanking skills are pretty impressive lol.
Soo nice when u have the right equipment and the right people. Well some of the right people lol
If you’re looking for a good PS pump, the v8 wj pump upgrade is a fantastic, and bolts right up. Very minimal modification to the valve and its good! For $25 at the junkyard you can have a much stronger pump
We are doing two XJ builds and might have to give this a try!
Nathan there should be writeups online. You might not find xj specific, itll probably be for tj. Its the same tho. It bolts up, just gotta use the valve from the xj pump and drill it out. Then ever so slightly bend the line to get around the bigger reservoir. Nothing to it
Most of the front suspension will swap over also. At least for the TJ. I did the pump, track bar and drag link from the WJ. And the brake booster from a dodge Durango on my 04 LJ.
Lol love how they use a framing hammer to pound steel and a Ball peen hammer to break apart the wooden engine crate. 🤣
I watch Mike Patey build airplanes in northern Utah and Matt build Jeeps in southern Utah, and it couldn't be MORE different! Mike's tolerances are nuts, Matt throws things together and both work for them.
Kind of reminds me of my old 69 ford pickup with a 300 inch straight six motor. Boy I wish I had all that torque in my 2022 jeep Gladiator Rubicon boy that thing would go about anywhere.
Max looks like he would even settle for a toy rabbit at this point.
He's like, "Am I still grounded?"
Matt uses the Wrecker as an engine hoist. It ain't stupid if it works! 🤔
I've used my wrecker to do body and frame work.
Better than an engine hoist except you need at least 2 people. Definitely not a negative thing, it's their trademark enginuity.
Been there done that. Works great for pulling one if you’re not in the shop
My boss has done that a couple times and is about to do it again for an engine swap in a lifted F250 in our back lot.
maybe best episode of anything ever. awesome cast. just poetry. and bauer ftw! ha ha! you guys are awesome.
You guys with your $40 hand drills when you have a Bridgeport style mill in the background!!!! Killing me.
Glad to see at the end of the day ya got it stabbed in there 😂🍻👍
Love your videos Eric! Helped me out quite a few times and your rust prevention treatments are the best
Love waking up Sunday mornings to the Banana Build!!!
Heading to the “Crawling for a Cure” Cancer Run in Tahuya, WA! Wish y’all were here!!! ❤️🐞
I've always wondered what those events do like do you pay a fee to participate how do they raise money
Should be a great event. Washington has some great crawling spots.
Great work, Bug.
@@ironicchannelname6457 yes, most of those events you pay per trail, plus there are vendor set ups so I'm sure they earn money from the fees for that. I know the two bigger ones at Sand Hollow are like this.
@@ironicchannelname6457 - The event was free to anyone that wanted to come and go wheeling. We had several companies donate gifts for a raffle we held before we all hit the trail. Was an amazing turnout for our first annual event. Approximately 100 rigs showed up to show support.
You know someone has been busy when they can sleep in an uncomfortable chair in a noisy workshop. Love afternoon naps.
Ive been away for three days tenting in a nature reserve with little to none phone coverage just enjoying the silence. This video is the fist one Ive seen since coming home, its like s visit to a nuthouse. Keep on keeping it a bit nutty

" We'll Get It Done ". Good work, I be happy to see the Banana back in service! 👍👍👍
Country music poetry slam interlude was fab!
Yes you can get the tropical configuration for build and cooling system on that Cummins and it will run like a champ.
I can't be the only one who gets a huge smile on my face when Max or Lady make an appearance?
So glad to see a stroker installed into the amazing machine
Stroker equals more torque and better pull for stuck vehicles.
Rudy, Rudy, Rudy.. An example for humanity to learn from.. ;-)
I learned to drive my 1st farm truck sitting on a milk crate that was awesome
Drilling tip. Low speed, high pressure, lots of oil.
Or use the milling machine that is right behind them.
Speed kills.......................Drill bits!
Better yet, DRILL PRESS!
@@davewinch6029 Make sure that you have good drill bits .
And relieve the shavings regularly.
When you said stabbing and engine in there. I knew exactly what you meant. I've used that term while doing a few jobs. Usually it's used in "now I got to weasel and stabb that in there. A few choice words and possibly a busted knuckle maybe involved."
Excellent fabrication skills. Kids nowadays don't even know how to turn a screw.
Love that this guy does all hos own work unlike other youtubers who just pays everyone. Hate that this guy charges people to pull them out when others do it for free and enjoy to do it for free
I Can't wait see my Jeep Running again!!
Lot's of stuff going on but you made some good progress guys !! It's been hot here too and working 10 plus hour days leaves little time for anything else so congrats on getting done what you did/have gotten accomplished !!

For the record, I'm with you Matt. I've always said stab it in too. You're not alone.
I loved the claw hammer used on the tie rod and then the ball peen hammer used to unbox the engine.

You should have had a little ceremony to salute the Banana 4.0 motor and all the pulls it did. RIP soldier.
So you're saying . . . you plan to take the Banana out of state after a fresh seat-of-pants rebuild, on tight schedule for an urgent mission. I think my entertainment for late September is already lined up.
And here i just clicked my first ever notification bell!

"Boy Howdy!", said Matt.
I thought I was the only one who said that!
If you guys don't have one yet I think it's time for you to get a drill press machine. Like the cool vids and hope everyone is having a good day.
I've seen them use a vertical lathe as a press before.
Bridgeport comes to mind....
We are going to get a lot of work done today. Let's go to lunch.
It's amazing to think they have a mill and are breaking drill bit's drilling by hand.
