    • @lewlewis6511
      @lewlewis6511 3 года назад

      I still draw grease into the old gun i use purely for CV grease when repacking CV joints, via snipping the small end clip of the CV boot and sliding a 4" long really narrow adaptor right up into the joint itself, CV joints like all other joints last much much longer if you give them the ocassional regrease.
      Great to see grease nipples on the Banana's steering joints, only have them on the propshats of my Toyota Prado, probably they'll be done away with when the next gen Toyota 4x4's are released...cue Hardy Spicer's no longer lasting the life of the vehicle.

    I remember the grease guns that got the grease from a barrell. 1959 at my dad's Shell station. In the oil change grease bay was a 6 ft. deep pit. In it were the oil and trans drain cans, the barrell for the grease gun and lots of dirt and grease. Guess who got to clean it our. Yep, the 11 year old, me! Think that was bad? The wash pit next door had a 5 ft. deep "sump" to catch the mud so it didn't clog up the drains. Every few months someone got to get in the pit and shovel out all the mud. Yep, the 11 year old. Lots of memories and education at that Shell station!

    Love your videos and Matts channels. You guys are some of the best shade tree mechanics I have ever seen. You guys are always airing up and deflating your tires off road fighting with the valve stem cores. I was just messing around one day while checking my fifth wheel tires. I found that if you take the Wynnsky bayonet style tire inflator gauge (just one brand) I got from Lowes for about $20.00. You disconnect it from the air hose and use it on the inflated tire it will show you the tire pressure with out leaking. Then you push the inflator lever still not connected to the air line and it will let air in the tire out at a good rate. You can let off and check the air pressure. It makes it nice not to mess with the valve stem core. ( The Wynnsky tire inflator is on Amazon for $19.00)

    From an engineering point of view I was very impressed the way it all came out, but from experience from offroad racing wheels I once made, the next weakest point was the lug nuts in the rim, so i made 1/8 steel spacers that were bored to clear the hubs, then migg`ed to the back side of the wheel rims then drilled through for the lug bolts.. Never lost a wheel after that, but, Matt as hard as he tries, I dont really see him throwing wheels off/ hope not anyway..lol Thanks for a great Video yet again - Ian - UK.
