Day 2 of project "Help Matt's Off Road Recovery meet his deadline". Day one we got the transmission all done. Day 2 we started on the transfer case and little odds and ends to help Matt reach his goal. Exhaustion starts setting in, but we got it done! Check it out!!

I started watching both of them around 18 months ago. Never new Paul worked on the morrvair

I admit I am not a Corvair guy, but this one is going to be a lot of fun. Love the engineering going on. Watching the action in the shop is very, very much like what happens when my 2 friends of 40 plus years and I get together on some project in my shop. Between the laughter, lies, downright lies and all the stories we've told of adventures together we still manage to get the work done. The wives wonder how we get anything done. Any day spent together in the shop doing stuff with friends and family is a day well spent.
A whole lot of work, some shenanigans, and friends doing what they love. One of my favorite videos on RUclips!!!
Guys get some cutting fluid in the shop your cutting tools will thank you. Check with your local industrial supplier for a water soluble coolant concentrate like Rustlick ws-5050 can mixed 20-30:1 for general purpose sawing/drilling/cutting thats not too expensive($2 a gallon after mixing). You can get it from like Graingers/MSCdirect too but they will beat you up on shipping. You'll get a lot more life out of your drills, saw blades, and lathe tools.

These are brilliant. No drama, no arguments, nothing fake. Good honest family friendly educational entertainment. I wish there was more of this on TV. Loving fabrats and Matt's off road recovery.

There are A LOT of things about this whole project that impress the heck out of me, but the fact that both families can all be out there, together and having a good time w/ the build, really stands out. Even as you get tired, have problems, etc. I would be cussing and swearing and biting my wife's head off!!!!! LOL I would need several 'time outs'!!!!

3:40 you’ll notice how much smoother things go when the task reaches “men helping equilibrium”. One person job? No. Two person job? No. Three? That’s the ticket! Men have a deep and primordial urge to get involved in any sort of work happening in front of them, at the very least “supervise”... or my favorite “let me see it, you gotta do it like this”
Then they blame women for contemplating similarly & making similar observations as "nagging" 🤔

Holy crap there isn’t much Paul doesn’t know how to do. I’d love to have a friend like that and not just for his knowledge, tools, and mechanical ability, he just seems like someone I could really get along with. For what it’s worth y’all sure have built a great life together!
Great channel guys love to watch the work, please wear some Eye protection on that drill press ! I had metal take it out of my eye three times in the last three years and I finally learned my lesson one time and even one underneath the glasses and got me anyway just want to see you be safe keep up the great work looking forward to it guys thank you !!😊😊Thanks for keeping it real

Been watching Fab Rats, Matt's Off Road Recovery and company for a while now, but somehow I missed this video with the karaoke clips. That is priceless! Also love how Paul just goes off away from the crowd in his garage and quietly works. Thanks to all of the aforementioned RUclipsrs and also Robby Layton, Tom Tom and many others who made the lockdowns we were experiencing in other parts of the country and world more bearable. Your channels were our mental escape. Now you feel like part of our lives. Thanks to all!

As a Journeyman Machinist with more than 4 decades of experience, this video showed me that it doesn't matter. You put enough brains together going after the same goal, it gets done. Maybe not so pretty of fits too well, but it gets done.

@@phillipstoltzfus3014 It's out there, to what extent and seriousness? A good friend of mine is in ICU in NM with life threatning complications. Just depends who you are and genetics. He had no underlying conditions.

It takes a village to build a Morrvair, glad this popped up, it was Grand to watch this history and all the heads coming together to resolve tech difficulties. This is up there on your most impressive videos.

It took me a long time just to get my wife to know what the gas gauge and gas cap was for... Getting her to pay attention to the warnings from the TPMS and backup sensors is something I'm still working on though...

Why bore the end of a shaft with a drill press when there is a lathe in the background?
They would have wanted to chuck on the shaft not the flange. I dont think they had enough room to get the flange in behind the jaws. The shaft was to short to go all the way through the head stock as well. Not sure what the bore is on that head stock on that lathe.
@@nwngunner chuck the flange, if necessary with protective strips, and use a steady to support the shaft

Actually I really enjoy this program, but as a safety officer I would have shut it down long ago before some gets killed. Oh, and I thought the Corvair was a rear engined car, what a missed opportunity.
