Hey Paul Cox my name is Hector stone I live in Myrtle Beach South Carolina enjoy watching you do you think of Union wife and kids is well imagine through this Cobra.
@@garychristison5773 If you grew up in the country, chances are that you learned to drive on probably a tractor in the fields, followed by a 21/2 ton Truck hauling hay or some other farm product. Compared to some of those trucks that Studebaker probably feel like power steering.
I worked with a woman engineer who got her chops driving a harvester (peas, no less) as a summer job; she said she won out over her male cohort because she didn't flip it on the hillsides. Gotta love a farm girl.
I’m seeing a pattern here. Matt seems to touch hot stuff and Paul gets his fingers in the way. Makes think of the song lyric, “Old enough to know what’s right and young enough not to do it.” Still two of the best channels on RUclips. Keep doing what you do!
It just wouldn't be the same watching Paul do things the safe way. ie: drilling while holding the drilled piece in his fingers while holding it on top of the drill press vice. So much easier and faster that chucking that drilled piece in the vice. LOL! So much more entertaining when the drill grabs the drilled piece. You can tell I have done that, can't you?
Just love the positivity this channel brings us in every video. I have always enjoyed Michelle 's enthusiasm and laughter along with Paul's sense of humor just can turn ones day around for the good. Add to that all of Paul's creativity and your watching 100% perfection!! Thanks for letting me hang out with you folks all the time.
I used to have to haul logs of pears to the packing House in that exact same type of truck and I got some Burley forearms from driving at all summer. Good job, Paul.
Old iron demands it's pound of flesh. Those old Internationals didn't steer well or stop well, which is why they used a motor that didn't go fast and a deep gear ratio.
Thanks again for such a fun retreat back into some normalcy folks. Michelle's laugh as she's driving that old truck was the highlight. As always I love to see the whole family involved in the process - including test drives! Stay well all.
It’s a heat damper. It’s closed when the engine is warming up to force hot exhaust through the intake manifold heat stove for the carb choke. Makes the choke warm up quickly.
The magic of camera , I figured you had more than five days worth invested in that project .. Always great to see your projects Paul and getting the kids involved , getting the wife to drive made my day she's a hoot lol !!
I tell yall what I love the way I can watch Yall and Winders channel and not listen to cuss words bouncing off the walls! Good watching and proud to be part of yalls youtube family. Yea I'm Texan thats reason for all the yalls lol Good job! and Thank all of you very much!
It has been a year since you built that motor. I watched a video the other day and you were building this motor and I looked where the time on it is and it’s been a year.!!!! Finally getting around to installing it I see!!! Lol 😆
When I watched the opening scene, I was overwhelmed by a quote I heard in a truck stop. " When I see a son look at his father in admiration, I KNOW that man is doing something wright. "
As a truck mech.. I have found that more cooling fins don't necessarily mean better cooling, sometimes you need to slow the flow to make it cool better . But with poor flow , air flow that also makes a difference . Once again I love watching you folks!!!!
Found your channel via Matt’s Off-Road Recovery. I couldn’t stop smiling when you and Michelle test drove the IH! Looks like you were both having a hoot. My Dad used to have a shop back in the day so brought back lots of memories of the old 55 Chevy he bought from old farmer for $600 and pulled it out of a grove of trees and fixed up and got ‘r running. Changed out rear diff with high speed rear end. My brothers drove it 700 miles from South Dakota to Denver to see our sisters. Only had to adjust a brake hanging up a bit otherwise no issues.
When the mom Michelle, when she was driving the pickup it looked like the truck was built for her. She's a perfect fit for driving that truck. Great video you guys!
Your videos are always so great and so informative, and like I always say. It's always the best when Michelle is in the videos. I laugh so hard. Watching her drive the truck was the best! 🤣🤣
As an old Scout Corn Binder fanatic I honed many of my fabrication skills swapping in Chevy and Mopar engines and transmissions and different t-cases back in my hay days. Also fabricating 3 and 4 link suspensions which in those days were a lot of trail and error episodes. My hats of to you for your fabrication skills and ingenuity on your builds and keeping an old Binder alive. ROCK ON!
Someone get this man a first aid kit for his garage !! I would send him one if I could afford it. We gotta keep our Fab Rat in good health people !!!!!!!!!!
I’m watching this as a two year old video and you’re trying to get to 100k subscribers. As I watch this you’re at 517k subscribers. WOW!! Your channel has exploded and I can see why. You’re one of my favorites, and thanks to you and some of your friends I have no need for network television.
It is so great watching you and you sons working together like you do. It means a lot seeing this. Thank you so very much and please please keep the videos coming. You all are amazing.
Grab some gears mama!! Paul: We're gonna die!!! Michelle: Buwha-ha-ha-ha!!! You done a nice and neat job on the engine install Paul, everything works great for what you had to work with, It was made to measure. It's always good to see you getting your son involved, he clearly enjoys working with his dad❤
Some rack and pinion steering and a Ford 9 inch all from a crown vic and it would be a sweet little rat rod probably have to soften the suspension a touch too but for a parade vehicle I hope he built a fan shroud to help that little 4 blade fan keep the V8 cool while creeping and stopping through the parade
No good deed goes unpunished. I was helping my nephew fix a lawn mower and managed to put my thumb right on the hot muffler. Instant meat cookage.....and took weeks to heal. That felt wonderful. Felt my pulse in it like you did.
This is the best channel on RUclips!!! And this was you're best video ever!! Thanks so much for all the effort you guys put in to share this great content with the world. It is so appreciated. You guys are so likable and so talented. I'm in awe. Please include fixing the steering and brakes and other finishing touches on future videos. I really want to see everything you do to get this truck back to it's glory. I wish you the best and I hope your finger heals quickly!
Paul is pretty much a master of all and a great craftsman enjoy watching you problem solve I really like my new fab rats merchandise I bought keep it up guys.
Enjoyed!! Have a 39 Plymouth 2 door sedan, 1 owner, mom and dad purchased new. Have done some work on it. Car is 3 years older than me. I'M HOPING MY SON- IN- LAW WILL DRIVE IT BACK TO L.A. someday. My mother drove my brother , sister and I back to Arkansas in 1944 shortly after my dad passed.
Double clutch, double pump brakes... not to shabby really. I bet when you are as old as this sweet thang, yeah, you'll be a bit stiff in the joints as well. :D She's a beauty! Well done all.
When I was a kid there was an auto shop near us like Paul's, just like it. Old men sitting around watching, snoozing but helping when someone needed it. I remember asking one of them what spark plugs to put in my 327 and he taught me how to relate the numbers on the plug to the heat and when to use what. Probably mucho knowledge sitting around there.
It is great to see you investing in your son like this. I didn't have my dad around to do this, but the man I now call dad and have for almost 40 years invested in me. I then was able to invest in my son and daughter this way. My son is now an engineer who earns his living turning wrenches on multi million dollar machines. Keep up the great work. You are such a blessing to your family. Fab Rats and Matt's Off Road Recovery are two families that could teach the world how to raise their kids.
It’s great to see how well you and Matt and all your friends get along .I’m getting on in years now so my days of messing in the garage are pretty well limited to replacing pads and rotors on my van. I like your show because back when I took my mechanics course we learned how to make do with what we had so we fixed or made new parts ourselves. Never bought new if we could make it ourselves. So ,keep up the great videos; and I’ll keep watching from my easy chair here in Nova Scotia. Bubby.
Awesome to see father and son working together! Really showed when they were riding together in the truck...smiles for miles! Paul your Fab skills are off the charts.... you make it look easy but we know it’s years of experience that make seem that way! Always a great time down at the Fab Rats Garage! 👍👍👍
😄 Great driving Michelle. Two pumps for the brake, cover the hole for exhaust, manual steering and floor shiftin'... that's like an old VW we had back in the 80's!! Cold weather required scraping the INSIDE of the windshield on that thing & no reverse!! Lol Luv them FabRats!! 😄👍
Keep making awesome builds, especially the suspension swaps. Awesome knowledge, great humor, and especially the technical/mechanical aspects of the vids. Good luck guys, 100K is not too far ahead.
That awesome "short throw" shifter was the best! lol Really old trucks are really old. I actually kinda miss driving something like that, but not a lot.
I enjoy your channel so much, I’m a retired Welder/Pipefitter/Fabricator of 37 years in a Machine/ Fab shop plus in the field also! I love watching Paul fab brackets and everything else he builds, I can’t do any major fab jobs anymore because of my health issues! Too many jobs in bad positions and carrying too much heavy stuff has taken its toll on my body, after several surgeries and hopefully next year I’ll be able to get both shoulders repaired because of torn rotator cuffs ! Anyway I love your channel and see Paul doing a lot of just what I did on the job before they had our shop certified for code vessels and then it got too different with quality control and just too many rules and paperwork! I love old school fabrication and I really like blacksmith work too! I started making hunting knives and like was going good until last year I had a hip replacement and if that wasn’t enough to mess up my year, we had two hurricanes hit Lake Charles back to back within 6 weeks of each other! That put a damper on my projects for a while but I found your channel and it takes the place of my enjoyment for fabrication! I also watch Matt’s recovery channel too and enjoy watching the recoveries especially when Paul goes and helps out! Thanks for y’all sharing your experience and friendship, I really appreciate everything y’all do! Kirk Rogers retired Welder, Louisiana! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thank you for making long videos! I watch yours on my lunch break and it's so nice for your video to take up almost the full 30 minutes! Its like watching a regular tv show. Keep up the good work!
Paul, when I built that 396 that was in that T bucket that I showed you, I also put in some zinc additive in my oil. I drove it for 2,500 miles, and I was going to put an air-gap intake manifold on it, and since a friend told me that I should paint the engine black to match the frame, I pulled the engine out to paint it and put the manifold on it. I did not like the look of the cam, so I removed it and looked closer. It was FLAT!!! So, I rebuilt the engine AGAIN. Honed the block, blew out all of the oil passages, new camshaft and lifters. New mains and rods new oil pump, just basically starting over from scratch. My engine rebuilder had a crate motor take out of a cam out of a 427. He had to machine a grove in the rear bearing for oil, but it fit right in and works fine. I did some research and found out about Amsoil. They make an oil called Z Rod. It has all of the zinc and other additives that these older motors need. I have since put on 11,000 miles on it since then, and it runs great. I put a 1,000 miles on it when I brought it down to meet you. I have since changed all of my vehicles over to Amsoil. Even my Dodge Cummins pickup. You should take a look at Amsoil. It is good stuff, and they will have it delivered to your door if you want. I am sure that there are some dealers down there for Amsoil. I buy it a case at a time. It is spendy, but so is rebuilding a rebuilt engine AGAIN!
OMG! Paul she's a keeper. You two are so cute together cruising like old times in High School lol hahahaha that's if you two have gone to school together. I love how people just show and just chill at the shop. ❣️💪👍 Love the build.
Great video ya'll!! Paul you amaze me when watchin you work and fabricate stuff the clutch assembly an motor mount that receiver hitch was awesome. That is a cool old truck love the big fenders and the small cab that engine sounds great. Michelle you did a heck of a job drivin it. I have been a shade tree mechanic for 50 year's I could work on the older stuff 60s 70s but I hate all these electronic stuff don't know how to work on them love to have older 60s vehicle again to drive. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy ya'lls time together
What a beautiful old truck!!! She's a keeper!!! Well...except for steering, brakes and exhaust...but I'll bet y'all will get all that taken care of when the parts come in!!!
Hello Fab Rat's! You Too Paul! Lol I just wanted you to know, I Enjoy watching you guys! But - when I seen you clean those Manifolds with a GRINDER - Cringed!! I would Love to Tell you or Actually Show you how to Clean a Manifold so you can Install it Metal - to - Metal like it's Supposed to be.
Love the work you do! Lot`s of warmth and fun! I started grinning when you took off and didn`t stop till the video ended! You and Michelle make a great team, your children have a major head start over most these days!
I remember when my boys would help with things like a cab swap. It was a good feeling. Now it's the small crew of me, myself and those voices in my head. Never a dull moment with that one liking to mess with me. lol Always a good video. I slapped the subscribe button 6 or 7 times.
Subscribed today. :) Been an avid subscriber/follower over at Matt's for the past 6 months, don't miss an upload. Came to you through the shared links of your Wrangler Recovery with Grandpa's Rat Tow-truck and the train of 4x4's to get it out of that valley with its' 30 degree angles - gee they were hairy ! Watched your link, then went fishing with you - a few fish were caught that day - nice boat. This is a great ol truck too. Good luck with your subscriber goal. G'day from New Zealand. Looking forward to some more interesting videos. Cheer. M.
I learned to drive in one just like that. Ours had a pickup bed though. I was 8 years old at the time. wasn't hardly strong enough to steer it. My grandmother and I would take it about tree miles to wheat we had a big garden in one of our fields. Those were truly the good ole days. Oh the memories.
I’m 67, if I had it to do all over I’d try fabricating. My favorite channel. Aloha from Kauai! Best wishes for a happier new year with great housing Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!! Happy New Year!!!

Michelle lady handling that manual steering LOL she's a keeper !!!!
And using a clutch was old school for her.

Cheer. M.
I've been a subscriber for a few months, and I think Paul is an incredible fabricator!!! I like it. nice work
I learned to drive in one just like that.
Best wishes for a happier new year with great housing
Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!! Happy New Year!!!
The happier housing was a surprise to me, what the heck lol
Nice work Paul you have a talent that's amazing to watch.
