New Transmission In The Buggy And A Random Recovery

- After years and years of abuse I finally decided to pull out the transmission of the buggy and have it rebuilt. Then we put new seat belts in Ol Blue. On the way to Grand Junction to get the buggy transmission I got a call for a truck stuck in the Dolores River, so I swung by and pulled them out. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Happy belated birthday Mike. Ok, the fact that Rory did 24 hours to hell and back with a cooked transmission says a lot about his abilities, driving and build. Amazing.
Thank you sooooo much for rescuing our parents & siblings!!!! We appreciate you🙌🏽🙌🏽
This is why I love your channel. Heavy D Sparks would have blown up the internet with his clickbait about rescuing this family and all you put is “random recovery” I love it, keep doing you 🤘😁🤘
Real and genuine
And now them boys are building the Worlds largest yadda yadda monstrosity, coming after Matt.
This buggy is my favorite. Love the green cage, stance, everything.
Great job on the recovery of the mom and her kids Rory.
Buggy sounds much better now.
Thanks for the shout out, I hope the belts work good for you.

Never saw an exhaust blow smoke rings, that was really cool you got that on camera😮
I did. More than once.
Above an ideling (at about 30-40 rpm) vintage 10 litre 1 cylinder Lanz tractor ;-)
@@andeekaydot 10l 1cyl, that's wild.
@@secret5. Those tractor are legend. They are even capable of ideling at 0 rpm (reciproking, barely 3/4 turn fwd and backwards) . There are Utube vids about that...
I have a Nissan VG30 V6 with headers, three inch exhaust with a LoBak auger muffler right after the Y and a Flowmaster at the end with a six inch long piece of tube as the tip. When it's cold and blowing steam at idle every time I kick the pedal it puffs out a steam ring about a foot in diameter. Something about getting the exhaust exactly right (or wrong?) and just the right change in flow makes smoke rings.
As always thx for the invite into your world. Thx for the video
As always good stuff from Rory and crew, but let's also recognize Mom for building a fire to warm her kids from crossing the water. Not a lot would have done that let alone the means to do so.
Anyone gonna talk about the sick smoke trick that truck did? 😂
You’ve quickly become my favorite channel!! Awesome content and you care about the people you help and protecting the land more than anyone!!! Thank you Rory!!!!
Well done on that buggy...Great family rescue at the river.
Mike and Shawn don't disappoint...fun all the way . Happy Birthday Mike.
Now you can really crawl with the new trans! What fun you will have now. Thanks for taking me along!
No nonsense crap, Rory, Sean and Mike just get the job done and make it look easy.
I think what I love most about this channel, is there is always serious excellent recoveries that go on, but at the same time with the chemistry Rory, Mike, and Shawn have I laugh most of the way through. Not sure if that makes alot of sense, but that's the way it is for me. So glad you were available and passing thru to help the Mom with her kids out! Until you said something, didn't even realize you were having problems with the transmission. Buggy just seems to work!! Thank you for sharing
Those kids just became instant Squarebody Fans.
I like that design of the buggy anytime u make something easier to access that’s a plus
That is so cool the way you routed the crossmembers up, up, and away. You're giving away all your secrets!
well done on 24h and back. something to be proud of
I bet she was glad to see u rory
Morning Rory!!
The happy attitudes from you, Shawn and WisconsinMike never get old!!
🤠🤠🤠 "Three Amigos"
I'm sure that family was THRILLED to see "Old BLUE" rounding the bend...you certainly made their outing a much happier one!!
Safe travels, friends ❤❤
Stay FROSTY...
Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel...

The buggy rev was a great wakeup call.. IS a great wakeup call
A few years back a fresh faced 20 something cop pulled us over in our 75 Bronco for not wearing seatbelts. The confusion on his face that there was a time that, lap belt only were a thing, was epic.
Happy Birthday Mike. Mine is a day and 30 yrs after yours.
I love a well designed rig !! The best ideas and designs always happen when the person that has to work on a rig , is the same one that designs the rig. It seems that todays cars and trucks have all these fancy features designed by some great engineers , but a lot of them are not mechanic friendly. If I was building a moab crawler , I’d take Rory’s advice on every single part of it. Well done fellas.
Newer vehicles are designed so the old shade tree mechanics can't hardly work on them. Something as simple as changing the oil can be a nightmare for some of them.
I used to work in a geothermal power plant that was designed by people who never had to actually access a valve…. I know what you mean….
Shipping containers has lots of uses
Nice recovery with good timing to be right in the area. That buggy really looks stout. Good idea to put the crossmembers above everything. Thanks for sharing.
Except the seat being mounted beneath the chassis, it just looks so weird, at least there's ventilation when driving and heating while rockcrawling..
Shipping container: "OH man, here we go again".
Rory: "I'll be gentle"
You guys have become my new favorite yt channel. Always entertained and learning. Cheers everyone 🤙🏽
Nice rescue and good to see the buggy getting some love. Loved the fire extinguisher test.
Buggy looks Great
All the very best wishes to you all
Cheers Guy’s from England
That smoke ring from the exhaust - sweet.
Good video with the Trail Mater crew and a recovery in the frozen river and rescuing the family. The Buggy gets some upgrades too. Nice!
And HBD, Mike!
You’re a great guy the rescue was a blessing to her
makes all the crazy shit you pulled off before even more impressive knowing what state the transmission was in
You made that river recovery look easy. I wonder how the felt after watching Ol' Blue navigate that river crossing so effortlessly? 😅
Entertaining and educational!
I'm sure you are pleased that the buggy is back to working correctly now. Happy for you
I Love The Buggy!!! What A Machine!!!
We've got the same birthday. I'm 1980. Happy birthday Mike
Good morning Rory how it was driving with a smoked transmission is simple that is because of the fact you were behind the wheel. You know how to drive and not do more damage.
In my opinion you definitely need a vacation since you are always on call. Being able to rest and relax will be a great thing
Well the Buggy should be good to go now! Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you for the entertainment and free knowledge ❤❤❤❤ live long and prosper 🖖🖖🖖🖖
You made that family very happy. Nice.
Ol Blue sounds awesome with that exhaust setup!
What a great bunch of guys! I like your filming style a lot more than some of the others because it’s more real, just like I’m looking at it with you. I also appreciate Rory pointing out things and explaining why they are the way they are. I learn a lot from stuff like this and it’s never boring. There’s a lot of years of experience here and I really respect that.
Looks like that guy who rebuilt your transmission know a thing or two about them. Happy belated birthday Mike. You guys have too much fun. Thanks for the video.
The buggy is better then ever😂 that recovery is what you call being in the right place when the call comes😂 kudos to the mom for knowing the kids needed to get warm starting that fire was good on her part ❤❤
That smoke ring was awesome lol
It’s the parts that make the content and it’s the people who break parts that we love.
Happy Belated Birthday @Mike !
that smoke ring got me. sitting here puffin a doob 😂💨
Rory your the best going to name you the king Moab
Transmission break-in procedures: **exisist**
Rory: drives right up the side of a shipping container 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Great job guys and great save Rory. New Trans. seems to be the trick.
Thank you. Very good story and great video keep them coming
My 73 blazer just has lap belts. It was nice 20 years ago. Now I get pulled over for not wearing a seat belt every time I drive it. The younger cops just don't believe square bodies had lap belts until I point out that the spot the shoulder strap would go to comes off with the top on the early square body blazers.
Best way to get the weekend started is to watch you guy's. Thanks for the video stay safe.
The smoke ring shot was sweet, nice catch
Thanks for sharing, and I have that "Element fire extinguisher hanging on my shop wall with a sign that says Do Not Use" lol.
good video, we learned something of great value, what a bogus fire extinguisher that thing is you tried on a
staged gas fire. Good job..
The Lord Bless You and yours. Give GOD the glory for his grace and mercies. He is been exceedingly good towards all of you.
Sooosss Rory smoked everyone at Hell and Back with a smoked transmission!!!🤣 This keeps getting better and better!!😎 Happy Belated Birthday Mike!!🍻
It been a while since I’ve seen you guys. Rory, Shawn,Mike you guys are awesome
BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA The fire bit with Matt was freakin hilaaaaarious!!!!
Rory: "Don't let the very visible fire burn my friend!!" HA HA HA HA HA Rory, you and the guys are all freakin hilarious. Makes for excellent working conditions.
Love the lap belt! A shoulder belt will help in a head on collision at 55, but not on a trail! Internet rewards nice people and Greg is a great example. The auto world is a great sub-culture.
great video always look forward to watching you all.
There’s a way to put out the small fire (flammable liquid fire too) with that thing or with a typical fire extinguisher.
You can’t just shoot at the fire & let it rip swinging back & forth like crazy thinking it’ll put it out. It doesn’t work that way. You have to swing it smoothly back & forth like a Robby Layton painting a hood with a spray gun. Think about it. If Robby went back & forth like crazy with his spray gun, then the paint job will look uneven as if his youngest kid painted it. But then again, his kid can probably out paint us all. Ha!
I’m sure your local fire department will do a demonstration for you &/or train you & let you have a try to do it the correct way. It’s all in the smooth sweeping motion.
The test drive was awesome..
One day that storage container is going to give up being a rock wall.
Caught that smoke ring!!! Awesome!!!
Love the channel!! Watch every episode and never a dull moment. You guys are great and thanks for all the laughs 👍
Watching you present beautiful Utah, my partner and I are so keen to head to the US from Oz 🤗🤗
Keep up the great work you 3 and keeping it real 😎
Just went through there last week, the crossing is deeper than usual on the CO side.. made my girls nervous when it pushed over the hood on the way in 🤣🎉
9:06 That rescue went" O O OK💍
You are the manbro.👍🏾🙏🏼
Always the best content from these guys
Foam based fire extinguishers are the only ones that work that's why NASCAR and NHRA use it. I carry #2 30oz cans of Fire Ade in all my vehicles it's the only thing that will put out a fuel fire and it doesn't make a big mess it's biodegradable washes right off
"not really sure what you are talking about".. hahaha.. Yep... that's always the way it goes.. way too funny.
Tbf gasoline absorbed into sand is a pretty challenging fire to put out with anything that doesn't form a solid barrier over the sand. Dry powder or something like that would be needed and lots of it.
If it was just trying to put the box out or similar solid media it'd probably do ok. Useful for some things and an interesting package at least.
Exactly, you would have needed a huge dry powder extinguisher to put that fire out. Total bullshit test. People have no idea how big an extinguisher is needed to put out a gasoline fire. Have you ever seen the halon tanks at a gas station. They are huge and highly ineffective.
Not surprised Rory at his best, 😊.
That family will remember that rectory for life Awesome job👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rescue!...Recoveries have nothing on rescues! That is the best thing!
and her thanks made me...I had a hard time reading the comments...
as a former search and rescue guy...that is what we live for...
and for those who need a clarification....rescues involve a live person, or persons/vehicles. Recoveries involve something that no longer functions...
I hope Element Fire Extinguishers will compensate you for the advertisement 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Happy belated birthday Mike.
A vehicle blowing a perfect smoke ring??? 9:06 Ive never even imagined that could happen. That was awesome!
Gotta love when you can do a job on your way somewhere else. Multitasking wins.
Omg the Dolores crossing...i have some history. Last time at high water someone in my group became confused and drove toward an island....that did not go well 😂
Thanks for making.
9:05. An angel's halo shows up.
another great video
Happy Birthday Mike .........Rory saves the day........Good Man! 🍰
Good video! Saving a family!
Great recovery and fire prevention video. Just went out and got some ice tea...you know just in case😅
Man you are just impressive, what you are able to do on talent knowledge and experience is truly impressive. Hell and back with a failing trans all the other things you did with that trans. It's really awesome to watch. Keep it up!!
One things for sure you guys prove over and over how sturdy those containers are!
now thats a crawler!
Good stuff!
Such a great channel. Nice you gave the buggy so much needed attention. It certainly has earned it.
It's fun to watch you go to the Delores river because we have been there. Also took my LX 470 up to the top of the world that you mentioned in your video. You do a nice job on your recovery. Rory, I like to watch Mike and shawn. Not sure how he spells his name but you know what I'm talking about.
RORY: Great Recovery....looked like it would be a challenge...but not for you and O'L Blue:)))
