Manufacturers should start making wagons and calling them crossovers and they would sell because it says suv
Smoke and mirrors..
I still think my Dodge Journey is more wagon than SUV. That's part of what I like about it.
Exactly what Subaru has been doing with the Outback for years.
Seriously don’t understand why us Americans don’t utilize the awesomeness that is the wagon. I very much approve of the way the Europeans do it
lol crossovers are pretty much lifted wagons
Roman! Dude, you need to actually listen! At the 57-60 ish second mark Andre starts to explain why they make tall sedans and then you say “No” (as if he was wrong) yet proceed to say exactly what he was trying to say. You owe Andre an apology!
Andre was just supposed to say "no why" and instead tried to steal his thunder.
Ahh I didn’t think of that so maybe it’s Andre who should apologize! 🤔
It’s not a CVT, it’s an ECVT. Not the same. It’s way better and very reliable. An electric motor not a belt drives the car.
This makes so much more sense of Toyota's inventive design language than the Crown sedan. Wow!
that's the Crown Crossover, the REAL Crown Sedan is in Japan and also the Crown Sport which is the best of the 4 Crown models.
It's a wagon. And I get genuinely appreciate Toyota offering a wagon. But for the price, they need to offer the more powerful powertrain.
My favorite line: It’s 64! It’s getting hot! 🥵
Colorado people know. 90 is hell.
Anything over 60 is too warm for me.
It's the intensity of the sun. I live at about 6k feet above sea level. The sun is sooooo intense here...
There was nothing wrong with the design of the previous Venza, IMO. I think the Venza went in a different direction from what it used to be in 2009-2015, a near-luxury station wagon. The outgoing Venza was definitely luxurious (based on the JDM Harrier which became different from the Lexus RX around 2010), but that was a crossover, not a wagon. This, for me, is a return to form from the original Venza, just that the 4 cylinder non-hybrid and N/A V6 engines in that didn't make a return. BTW, Toyota hybrids don't use a traditional CVT, they use a planetary gear set that they call e-CVT. I wish they'd come up with a different name for it so that everyone doesn't call it a CVT and then avoid the car because they think it has a CVT with a chain or a belt when in actual fact they don't.
I got my wife a venza in 2021 for $31k so big increase for this one
They went way too far. Agreed.
Everything is impressive until the price tag comes
It cost WAY to much
Roman and Andre, I am rolling out the welcome wagon for this..........wagon. 🙌🙌🙌🙌My one major question concerns the back seat. When you build a near perfect ski vehicle for a family of four, you need to include a 40/20/40 back seat with a proper ski pass through!! Those gimmicky extension flaps just don't cut the mustard. As a 'near luxury' vehicle, a sliding and reclining rear seat should be present as well.🤨
You're getting pretty picky there hoggy. Just try to find something to cross shop with this in the same price range and you'll find exactly zero such vehicles.
I want one. This thing is perfect inside and out.
I don’t think it would sell that well. Just like the original Crown we got. Way too expensive.
@@drnick40It’s a wagon. It’s not meant to sell in heaps.
Toyota design is just killing it lately. BMW and Mercedes could learn a thing or two with them!
LOL. I don't think BMW or Mercedes is sweating Toyota design.
Mercedes and BMW haven't changed really that much from their unique design. Toyota has changed their design a lot and will continue to do so. I don't think that Mercedes and BMW will make their cars look pretty much everything on the road today.
It's a wagon because in another market it's named Crown Estate
I love it! It is a WAGON, what is wrong with calling it what it is? I´ve owned many Volvo wagons, they offer the best in terms of driving dynamics with the space of the CUV in the back, and they are not too tall so you can carry your bikes in a roof rack. Perfect configuration for me. I´d buy one if the price is not crazy
Wagons Rule!!!!! The Signia XLE starting price is equivalent to top trim, compact CUVs from mainstream brands. In today's crazy context, the price around $44K is reasonable.😉
I getting tired of reviewers denigrating the Venza. It has been a great vehicle for us. And for Roman to say it's time for the 'old' Venza to go - the Venza has only been out for 3 years!
We were out walking around the auto mall yesterday and after looking at equivalent products at different competitors, I'm still impressed with how comfortable (the seats!) it is and everything that came with our Venza.
I'm looking forward to trying out the Signia (after seeing it at the LA Auto show) but we'll stick with our Venza for many years to come.
I'm frustrated by the lack of choice of vehicle in the United States. I'm always so envious seeing the variety available overseas, or remembering the variety we used to have here. If you want a crossover SUV or a pickup truck, there are choices galore. But if you want anything else at all, there is nearly nothing. It sucks that our roads are clogged with those tall, hulking things. I truly hate it. This seems more like a wagon to me, which is a step in the right direction. It's hilarious that they felt the need to put black trim all around it, including the wheel wells - though they made it shiny.
Seriously. I want a minivan. Not one of the four they sell here that are basically land barges.
I want a BYD
Great review guys. Love your channel.
Subaru Outback. That was just a lifted Legacy wagon.
Please, it's a station wagon. Most SUV's are station wagons. Just be honest and offer it with wood on the doors, Lol!
That's like the ferrari purosangue shape
No, that’s more the Crown Sport. Pull up two tabs one of the Ferrari one of the Crown Sport you’ll see how much more similar they are than this one
A spare? Checking multiple reviews, and love the vehicle but no spare is a deal breaker. The scenario, in rural Nevada and ruin a tire. Wait hours for a tow truck, and then the service facility says "WHAT, a 21" tire?"
Interesting vehicle but absurd price.
A friend of mine had 199? Crown and it was wonderful. Even in it's advanced age the car was so comfortable. He wanted to keep it, but greater minds prevailed.🦊
Jess had some cake!
Is this the same roof height and seat height as the Crown sedan or is it taller?
Looks good to me. But I'm partial to wagons.
50k puts you at 1000 per month. + another 400-500 for insurance. 1500 payment.
Toyota is perfecting the mobile appliance. Great cars if you don’t care about driving. I owned an RAV4 hybrid and thought it was one of the best cars for its value. But I sold it because it didn't do anything for me when driving. I have to feel torque and hp when driving, but I realize many do not.
💯
who knew the vast majority of the population just want a reliable mode of personal transportation???
@@emikomina I agree. I already know I am not in the majority regarding what or how I like to drive, and honestly, I hope I never am. As I said, the Toyota Hybrid technology is genuinely great, and it provides value for the majority of people.
Mine is too loud for what I paid for it.
You were expecting an emotional response to a compact CUV) That's now what that segment is about. It's utilitarian and bland.
Saw it at the LA Auto Show. Its really nice.
Andre answered your question correctly, you silly oaf.
Does the sunroof open?
Definitely do a comparison with the Subaru Outback and a regular Highlander. It would be interesting to see how the Crown Signia fits between those 2.
It's like the Japanese Ford Frex. Wagon, step-in height, easy to drive, fits in the garage. Love the color!
Roman has gotten very arrogant in the way he speaks to the other presenters ,Like he knows everything. Doesn't let anyone finish there sentence . Like I'm the boss attitude I don't like it .
Roman says STFU😉
I disagree. his more accomodating then most will. allow all to express their opinion
For the price... a Highlander Hybrid in Platinum trim, would be better for the money.
I just checked out the Build page for this on Toyota's website and am disappointed in the color choices. No silver or gray?
Can y’all do a Crown Signia vs Highlander video?
That red paint and gray wheels looks boss.
I stopped by the Toyota dealership 2 days ago because I thought I saw a Crown SUV. It was the Crown sedan that I saw. The sedan looks like an SUV with fastback styling. The Crown shown is just a wagon version of the sedan. The sedan looks huge, it doesn't look like a midsize sedan to me because the ground clearance of the crown sedan it's crossover like and that was what got me confused. It seems from the video that the SUV version of the crown has as much as ground clearance as the sedan version. At least, it doesn't look like an Aztek.
I’d say it looks more like a Camry cross
Gen1 Venza's were awesome! V6 AWD and tons of room.
Toyota slowly getting the wagon category back
Beautiful design+reliable. What not to like it's really a great car
Price. It's overpriced. You can get an RX Hybrid for $52k. Why on earth would you buy this for $51k?
Agreed
No one has any idea if it will be reliable. Stop giving Toyota a pass on that. Their reliability is overrated. Just look at recent history.
@@blang38 as I said...built in Japan and proven battery setup. It is not one of the current American fake Toyotas. Big difference. I own a 70 series Land Cruiser which was built in Japan. It is literally indestructible. One of the toughest and most reliable cars EVER. Just talk to Australian mining companies or NGOs in Africa. I talk based on experience. ZERO issues with my Toyota. Even after super tough offroading. So, I don't care about some random comments. No offense!
@@GCTO239 Why would I be offended. I don't care about random comments either. My experience with Toyota has been a disaster. I'm just tired of people immediately granting them "Oh it'll be reliable". That's not true always and shouldn't be taken as gospel
No Platinum trim so it doesn't even have all the features of the outgoing Venza yet costs almost $10,000 more. Not sure what Toyota is thinking with this most recent pricing. The Lexus RX hybrid starts at 52k so you can get an RX for around the same price.
I'm not a Toyota Fan Boy. But, l do like what Toyota does as a manufacturer more so than many other manufacturers.
Looks better - by far - than the Crown. It’s a wagon, not a faux SUV sedan like the Avalon replacement. Styling is stolen from a Volvo V60.
The funny thing is that in Japan there are 4 versions of the Crown. The Crown Sedan we get in the US is called the "Crossover" version in Japan. There is another actual Sedan that they don't sell in the US. The Signia is called the "Estate" in Japan and there is a 4th one called the "Sport" that is plug in hybrid only and we also don't get it although I have no idea why since it's really cool and I think it would sell really well here.
That thing is gonna do great
This vehicle looks wagon like to me. It reminded me of the Volvo wagons.
Built in Japan and proven battery setup...so still one of the reliable and flawlessly built Toyotas. Good choice. And it looks nice. Would also go for the red.
Is the glass roof optional?
Not on this trim. The base model doesn’t have it and has 19” wheels.
Wish they would offer the same power train as in the Crown Platinum as an option in the Signia..
It's two inches taller than a 70 Vista cruiser and a Pontiac safari. Both station wagons. It's close enough to call it a station wagon.
Toyota will do anything but bring Corolla and Camry wagons back.
Remember when Toyota made simple, affordable cars? Pepperidge Farms remembers...
It's a SUW sport utility wagon!
That sounds better than when BMW tried to coin SAV Sport Activity Vehicle for the first gen X5.
How loud is it?
Can't wait to see it off roading and on the roller test.
The car was good and Roman turned finish line red when Jess showed up ;p
hope the rav4 redesign has some of its styling q's
Andre is the man!!
Does the Signia feel a little bit too stretched ???
It looks good
I bet that rear cargo cover goes under a flip up lid in the cargo area when it's not needed.
Roman completely dismissing Andre is a no go for me dawg.
Wow new Purosangue looks nice
You could call it a crossover, but it doesn't look much bigger than an outback, so maybe it's actually a wagon.
its not for retired people, its a good looking vehicle
Look at that another $50K Toyota entry. Not impressed
9:40 As someone who lives in Florida, I think its cute that you think 64 is hot lol
It's a wagon And I really like the style and I think it would be an option for me and my wife to go on vacation and visit our children.
So, it it is a "SUV", does it have a towing capacity? Is there a spare tire? Are fog lights an option? What's the ground clearance? Looking forward to more info and specs. For me, while the fancy reds are initially eye catching and impressive, I wonder if eventually you'll get tired of seeing that. I was looking at Mazda CX-5, and initially, the red is "Wow!", but driving around for the next week, I kept seeing them. It's a lot of body, hence a lot of red. I think I like it better on the smaller cars. This Signia will be same. A lot of square feet of red.
I think I saw in another video the towing is rated at more or less 2700 lbs. No spare tire.
@@johncorman8715 Thanks! Good info to have. I couldn't find towing info on the Venza, but assumed it should be similar to RAV4 hybrid. They are right about the Venza being a bit on the small side. I'm not freakishly tall, and when I adjusted the front passenger seat, it hit the stop before I got it where I'd like it. I'm used to my Forester XT, so I'm spoiled by the cavernous space for front seat occupants. (Unfortunately, Subaru quit making the XT, so the pending replacement is a challenge. The 2.5L normally aspirated drive train doesn't feel like something I want to live with. At least the Toyota hybrids up the ante on power. This Signa sounds like it is a bit better than "adequate".
Roman...your CVT bashing is getting a little boorish. Granted CVTs of a decade and more ago weren't the best but times have changed, at least at Toyota. They make the best feeling CVTs now as they incorporate a real "takeoff" first gear then it shifts to the CVT. I have it in my 2020 Corolla Hatchback XSE. It feels sporty off the line but still gets the stellar MPG of a hybrid and feels so smooth. I average about 38 combined. I had a 2018 Honda Civic with the CVT. That one didn't feel all that good. I also had a 2015 Subaru Forester. That CVT felt horrible. Not smooth and sluggish.
All suv's are either a lifted wagon or hatchback because if the storage compartment is part of the passenger compartment then it's a wagon of hatchback.
Real wagons and hatchbacks are not lifted.
I cannot digest the car prices nowadays. I'm still thinking this car is worth around 25K-30K mark. Hell no I want to pat $50K for a station wagon. But sure people with pay that price tag as Toyota Hybrid is extremely reliable and Toyota Hybrid use motor generator CVT vs the pathetic CVTs Nissan s or Subaru s use.
It looks good. Almost all crossovers are just wagons or big cars anyway.
This is giving me some BMW ix vibes
I've slept in my Rav4 about a million times when trying to get from "point A to point B"
hey wagons are making a come back..like this car
Pricing is super duper wrong. Who the hell in Toyota's department decided to put that price. With dealer markups and options this will reach up to 55k+ and outdated tech😂I expected too much like Tesla infotainment system, but we got laggy as system.
Station wagon
Should’ve had the hybrid max powertrain. In today’s world with that much weight, this is underpowered.
8:50 - No need for interior flashy colors Roman, no one else films their cars. We want affordable, reliable cars. We keep our cars longer than 6 months and as I repeating Toyota buyer I like all black dark interiors!
52k ? crazy times.
Venza replacement, makes sense
I like the car but is anybody else getting tired of asymmetrical wheels?
I should I trade in my 2024 Toyota Venza Limited for a Toyota Crown when I get all the same options and features just not the extra cargo room !!! Plus i want a SUV not a in between station wagon/Sedan??? Plus my Venza gets 41 miles per gallon that’s 3 miles per gallon more. I think my Venza is more agile because weighs less than the Crown. I think I rather get the Lexus RX 350h when I sell my Venza in the near future.!
Think of it as a todays answer to an early 1990s Buick Century wagon or Volvo 740 wagon - a practical car with a premium name that doesn’t shout, but whispers, that you’re doing well. Might have the same buyer demographics. Meanwhile actual Buick just wants to sell anonymous crossovers and Volvo has surrendered reliability & durability in the name of style & tech.
Under the rear floor mat you will find wait for it, no spare tire or room for same.😂
Is this an Outback?! Serious question, similar size? Outback also attracts an older crowd.
Outback has higher clearance and isn’t hybrid. But it could compete with it.
It's really a nice station wagon. Which is a good thing. Station wagons are superior to SUVs. Modern ones are mostly AWD, they handle far better (thus are safer), are roomier for the same footprint, and are far more fuel efficient to SUVs. Station wagons and mini-vans are superior to SUVs. People buy SUVs to feed their insecurities and vanity. Same for people who buy pickups and don't actually haul anything.
Right On!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌
I mean I´m not a engineer but for me it´s a big Toyota with nearly the same parts like all the other Toyota´s, nothing less and nothing more.
$50k + tax for this is not it tho lol. itll be cool to revisit it when its on the used market for around $30k in a few years.
This is what happens when the owner of the channel doesn't realize he's the weakest link.
Bring back the wagons for Christ's sake! Best type of car by far. Even here in Europe (wagon lovers) the wagons have almost gone extinct. Don't get it. Can't stand this SUV fashion bullshit.
As he showed its still made for 5ft ppl. He was barely able to get out without bumping his head
So is this our version of the crown sore Japan gets?
Why are the 1st and 2nd comments before me totally unrelated and have nsfw pfps
*oh they’re bots, ain’t they*
Crown Signia is what the Venza should've been
Ferrari called, they want their front end design back.
