30:22 smant: Screw you the wrench is my true friend
Hell yeah, I love how it’s radio silence on RUclips then 3 or 4 videos in quick succession
It has been 2 videos in about a week. More vids would be great, but we'll see. The 3rd and 4th vids were March and February though. No disrespect meant. Love Smant and I've been enjoying his vods channel immensely!
Funny story, I actually just go into the catcher in chamber 18 so the door stays open, because it's much easier than trying to line up the timing for opening the door and having the orb there.
On the other hand, the catcher in chamber 15 (the long one) is MUCH harder to get into, also because of timing. I didn't see the stream, but if you somehow got the timing right after just a few tries, I will be very frustrated.
Smant is so good at video games he can deliberately break them
That's just speedrunning with glitches so that lines up
I mean he runs odyssey so...
*“No companion cubes were harmed in the making of this video “*
"This game won't let you softlock yourself"
Smant: Challenge accepted
Companion cube. Small ant: no
Companion wrench. Small ant: yes
The fact that smant does the hardest of skips on his first playthrough shows how much of a god gamer he is
These skips aren't really that hard to do
@@troublemonkey1_626 yeah source isn't exactly the most technical in terms of movement. And he's watching guides, as well as getting tips from chat
@@troublemonkey1_626to be fair tho they’re not intuitive either; less of a difficulty matter, fair, but in my book that counts for something
Fanboy alert 🚨
hoopup: "whats your credit card number"
smant: "im not that stupid"
hoopup: "yes you are
( check chat at 3:32 )
Lmao
He woke up and decided to choose the path of sillyness
14:34 - You can softlock yourself in this room. There is an invisible gap between the two windows on the corner. By shooting a portal there, you can get into the observation room. You need to put two portals inside it. You will not be able to get the portal into the gap from the inside
New favorite Portal lets play. Trying to softlock and skip in every chamber on your first playthrough feels true to the game, especially since you'd already played 2
HE PLAYED 2!?
@@Danpg79He says it literally 2 seconds into the video dude
21:20 SmallAnt trying to avoid euthanising his companion cube while euthanising a million cubes in parallel universes he proceeds to leave after failing again and again. Think about it.
A portion of people actually liked Portal better than Portal 2. Some people recommend skipping it and going straight to 2 but the beginning is the correct place to start.
I think you mean *some* people, some people prefer the second, some the first.
I played them for the first time relatively recently and I prefer the first game. The more simplistic story allows the gameplay to shine
I like 2 more visually but 1 is always fun to replay!
Portal 1 feels like a tech demo compared to 2
Portal is only about 90 minutes from start to finish anyway, maybe around 2 hours if you go searching for the hidden radios in every level. I see no reason not to play it before Portal 2.
There's is a secret cube in the other office
Using portal bump
There is one office that you can open the door and find the a normal cube in the storage room
To save the companion cube and you get the secrets ending
I've played this game like 15 times and I never once thought to do ANY of this. This was beautiful to watch.
13:24 this song brings back so many memories
Companion Cube ❌
Companion Wrench ✔️
Aww, you didn’t do the last soft lock. If you put the companion cube on top of the cake, then the robot arm can’t snuf out the candle, and it soft locks the game, after the credits.
Fun fact: you have to soft lock yourself one time to 100% the game
Friendship with Companion Cube ended, Wrench is now my buddy
Man actually out here testing. For science.
I love how humble smant is. Timed a guy out realized he was wrong, removed the ban and then gave a sub. Kudos. most other streamers would say it sucks to suck
3:17 Yeah, in this room you have to be smart enough to softlock yourself instead of dumb enough
softlocking yourself is such a dumb move that it loops around to requiring smart gameplay
Running through enemies with a wrench in that turret fight like this is Ratchet & Clank
Spanner & Ant
(c)hell yeah funny portal game
hell yeah
Yell heah
Hell yeah
Tell Teah
Yell yeah
12:07 My fav quote of all time: now we're portal with thinking 😂😂😂
Recently played co-op portal 2 for the 6th time, i absolutely love getting friends into the franchise, this made me so happy seeing smant play portal
This brought me back to the good old days of RUclips, back when there was good new Portal content every month.
I love how this went from play portal to softlock portal to softlock/skip portal to save cube to save the wrench XD
29:00. Dude somehow turned portal into Ratchet and Clank XD
25:10 "WRENC🤖 no pliers- WRENC🤖"
He found some of the speedrun strats by accident lmao
Bobby the wrench and Ant the human! The fun will never end...Portal Time!!!
“I’m an idiot and I’m gonna prove it!”
-Smant 2024
bro when he said, "yay im softlocked, yo im terrible at this game, now youre portal with thinking" i felt that
Okay so that’s how matpat knew there were bodies in the companion cubes. It was just a bunch of smallants
smallant is the human incarnation of "beginner's luck"
