  • How to shim the Fuel Pressure Regulator on the 95' Ford 7.3l with a bb. The fuel pressure in this truck was bouncing between 25-50psi prior to this shim. Afterward, the pressure stays around 55-60psi at idle.

    International makes a proper spring kit for this... it was actually installed stock in later model T-444E engines... International Claimed it was just to help Injector Cackle, howeverr it was noted in a lot of school busses that it made the engines run quieter and smoother over-all..
    the T-444E also has a proper return line, and a fuel nut made for plumbing a return..

      Thanks - that's good info. Do you happen to have a part number for this kit in case anyone wants to go this route to correct their low fuel pressure?

      why put a ball there? perhaps he brings it from the factory. or do you do it to exert more pressure?

    Good mod for free as the stock fuel pressure spring weakens your pressures drop good way to bring them back to stock or a even higher psi 👍🏻

    This worked for awhile. Not sure if the brass BB worn down but i ended up having to add 2 BBs> Maybe the valve poppet is worn on mine or the seat where it seals off in the housing.
    Good trip / trick!

    I am not even whelmed. Using a crescent wrench to do what should be done by a socket and box end wrench.

    • @diydiesel8897
      @diydiesel8897  2 года назад +5

      Absolutely. But if you're still building your tool arsenal (like I was at the time of this video) and you don't have a particular socket or wrench, don't let that keep you from getting the job done.
      If I were to do this same install today, I'd reach for a deep-well socket...but hey, nearly 7 years later and I haven't had to touch this sensor - so I'd say the crescent wrench did ok

    when I did that to mine it made 92psi idling and when I floor it, it goes down to 72psi or so. I wonder why yours stayed almost stock... if the injector pressure drops below 40psi, expect some injector work in the near future! 😳

      It gives more fuel pressure to prevent fuel starvation to the injectors

    How is this a Shim?
    Replacing the regulator BB with a air rifle BB maybe but a shim is a thin piece added to something to get the desired or needed thickness.
    So what size BB? .17?

    Nice vídeo , I tried to the same and the pressure go up to 80 but while running 55 m h. the pressure is in 40 and if I want to acelerate the pressure goes all the way down , like at 70 mh the pressure is in 0 psi , do you know what’s wrong ?

    • @diydiesel8897
      @diydiesel8897  6 лет назад +3

      Hard to say...if the engine is eventually starved of fuel, it might be a problem with the fuel delivery from the tanks to the fuel bowl.

    • @cbmech2563

      Probably 2 small screens in the fuel pickup that most people don't know about (thanks utube). I've done the e-fuel conversion, and as soon as I save the money I'm putting sumps in both tanks.

  • @arisbelmatias8242

    what exactly does it do and what size BB is it?

    • @diydiesel8897
      @diydiesel8897  8 лет назад +6

      +Arisbel Matias It increases the compression on the spring that regulates the pressure, giving the same effect of having a slightly stiffer spring. Use a .177 caliber bb (4.5mm).

      what year do you have? I want the same gauge but can't find that pod anywhere, can you help?

    • @diydiesel8897
      @diydiesel8897  8 лет назад

      You're asking what pod I used to mount the gauge in?
      I wanted the cleanest look I could get, so I ordered a 60mm gauge pod that could easily be detached from any included bracket. I then pop-riveted just the cup portion to the steering column cover. The exact gauge pod I purchased is only shipped from Australia, NZ, and the UK (unless you can find one on ebay).
      Here is a link to one for sale: www.topspeedautoparts.com.au/product/drift-performance-gauge-cup-60mm
