    you should coat the new seals(gaskets) with diesel fuel lightly
    before installation.

    Thanks for the great video Truck Stuff. I wanted to change the filter myself and needed a video that broke it down for me. Your vid is also the only one I could find on YT that actually shows where that drain tube is. I'd like to attach a fuel line like you did. I know I could have leaked diesel on my driveway and found it the old fashioned way. But you gave me a great head start and saved some of my asphalt. And by the way, I've read through a few of the comments about reusing the old fuel. Guess what, I've made mistakes too and have misspoken. To my knowledge, you aren't the first person to misspeak on YT while making a great effort to help others. So, I hope future viewers can just get over that small point. We get it. Thanks again for the information. It must be nice to know your video is still helping people almost 10 years after the fact.

    DO NOT reuse the diesel out of the fuel bowl it has water and dirt particails in the fuel that goes in your tank and back in your filter

    • @mikespain8655
      @mikespain8655 7 лет назад +17

      Yeah that little bit of diesel isn't going to break the bank after you just spent $32 bucks for your filter. Throw it on the burn pile or let drain into the gravel. EPA certified disposal approved.

    • @Stacy_Smith
      @Stacy_Smith 7 лет назад +14

      Trey Spooner Actually that's NOT true! The outside of the filter is EXTREMELY dirty because of all the impurities that was blocked by the filter. ALWAYS open the drain and DISPOSE the filter in the bowl BEFORE lifting the filter off the fitting. I DON'T CARE IF DIESEL WAS $6 A GALLON! INJECTORS ARE $1200 A SET (without the core charge).
      Not worth allowing debris a chance to get to your injectors.

    When replacing a filter like that if it has a drain on the back of that ball like it does whatever comes out of the bowl don't put it back in your tank you're sucking it back through an electric motor it'll eat the impeller and possibly cause fuel system problems the other thing whatever diesel you get out of that bowl after you disturbed the filter took the cap off just discard it it's not very much maybe a couple ounces it'll save you a nightmares worth of replacing an intake pump or the pump underneath the driver side seat or just the headache and trying to figure out and troubleshoot what's going on the other thing that might be helpful for everybody is to go any rubber surface that's a mating surface with a light coat of diesel so that way they slide together and don't tear on accident

    I'm trying to learn, I'm not trying to be a smart ass. I've read through every one of these comments looking for enlightenment and I'm still baffled. Aren't you purposely adding water to your fuel system by putting it back in your tank. Even though the system does a fine job of seperating it, most logical people don't add more water.

    TIGHTEN THAT LID TIGHT! Hand tight won't do it. Sprayed diesel all over my engine compartment and yes the O ring was correctly on. Always start with the hood still open to see if it leaks.

    • @TruckStuff1

      Hand tight should be good enough, like an oil filter. If you need to, give it an extra snug fit with a wrench but don't over do it!

      Its a plastic valve one aluminum. Your valve isn't seating properly.
      1 there's a pebble that's small enough that it is holding that valve to 1/16 open. Loss of pressure in the system will cause stupid problems. Cracked valve is an issue. Fuel needs pressure. Decent amount at that.

    I'm. bit confused. I see comments about reusing the old fuel however, I didn't see you reuse the fuel in the video.
    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the 95 didn't have an electronic fuel pump so the key prime wouldn't work. Is this true?

    • @craze8900
      @craze8900 7 лет назад

      Trey Spooner - Well last night my 7.3 started having a slight whistle with the motor. I pulled over and it was running very rough. I tried to step on the pedal to eventually turned it off. After starting again ran fine. I went about a mile and heard the same sound and slowly lost power, until the truck died. For weeks my fuel filter light has been flickering and coming on. I had I towed home, changed the filter today, per your video, minus the prime. I poured fuel into the canister. Still wont start. My father thinks it jumped timing. What do you think? Sorry if it's allot. I'm just confused.

    • @Stacy_Smith
      @Stacy_Smith 7 лет назад

      Craze' 8 DON'T DO THAT! Not being a smart-ass, just placing emphasis on the obvious: Fuel filters are designed to catch dirt and debris! In addition to that there is water at the bottom of the bowl. So the fuel in that bowl is going to have a HIGH concentration of impurities and water. OPEN THE DRAIN ON YOUR BOWL AND THROW THAT CRAP AWAY! A set of injectors is $1200 and Powerstrokes are very sensitive to water and prone to clogging!
      THIS IS A POOR DESIGN! Install a remote filter assembly that takes CAT 1R-0749 filters (bought mine on EBAY for $45), and a fuel shutoff valve to prevent prime loss when changing filters. The 2 micron Wix 33674 fits it and is a hell of a lot cheaper! (CAT $35, Wix $20).
      Use the filter mounted on your engine as a secondary filter and change 'em both at the same time. YOUR INJECTERS WILL LAST A HELL OF A LOT LONGER!

      If you are switching from an aftermarket filter to a motorcraft filter, you will need to get a new lid. You only have to buy it once it doesn't have to be replaced every time.

    Bank number one is not working at all the injectors are stone cold and it is not spitting any oil I have disconnected each injector on bank 1 plug them back to see if anything changes I make sure that the harness and the connector are nice and tight and that looks good I decided to swap out valve cover gaskets and harness from bank 1 too bank 2 problem continues so I swap solenoids From injector 1 to injector 2 and problem still there then finally I swapped out the injectors from 1 to 2 from 2 to 1 same thing. Bank one is not spitting any oil and injectors are cool . I check the wiring I don't see any cracks or melting wires I have not been able to check it with a multimeter yet but have I done enough to eliminate the injectors obviously being bad and the solenoid and the harness ?IDM ?

    I’m scared and confused to know how it ends? I mean you are in a process in repriming and then its almost like a jump cut at the end. I mean common, was there more steps after doing the ignition 4 times? You don’t say “that’s it” or “Goodbye”, proper endings in videos are an important and sometimes crucial - to get trust you didn’t accidentally edit out the real ending.
