Wow! If GamePass would just implement PC features (DLSS, FSR, FG, etc), it would really help the service. Very cool video, my friend. I would have never guessed this.
I started making this video fully expecting GP games to be slower, or the same at best. Never thought it would actually outperform Steam in some games. But the feature parity, or lack there of sucks a bit.
Thank you! According to Microsoft it is because of longer certification tracks to push updates to the Xbox App, but some of these games have been out for ages so I doubt that's the real reason.
Should have include the crack as well. If the crack actually perform better than both, then no wonder that everyone do cracks. Been wondering how much fps gains if there is no any launcher running in the background. 🤷🏻♀️
I recently tried this but only on 3 games, and the biggest difference was the cracked version had slightly less VRAM usage. About 200MB or so, but performance differences were within margin of error of Steam versions. Games I tested it with was Robocop, Horizon Forbidden West, and Cyberpunk 2077.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews I'm pretty sure the Gamepass, Epix and Steam version sometimes they don't get the same version. Like in Palworld for example, before this Gamepass version don't have DLSS, but Steam has that. Similar to Fort Solis, Epix version don't get the FSR 3 but Steam version has that. Why does the dev did that? Why don't they just ship the same version for all platforms? This is horrible experience for buyers for getting the version that they got scammed to. 🤷🏻♀️
@@Jakiyyyyy Yeah, I spoke about that in the video as well. According to Microsoft, it takes longer for new updates to be certified on the Xbox store, but I'm not buying that. Some of these game versions are much, much older. If it was only 2 weeks difference it would explain it, but that's not the case. In the video alone we had Ark, Lords of The Fallen, Starfield and Palworld run much different versions that either dont have DLSS, or DLSS Frame gen, or even any of the newer features, like the updated map in Starfield.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews when I had so much stuttering on wasteland 3 via gamepass but not on steam I believe they are doing some DRM check in the background
amazing video, this was something I never gave a thought. Quite rare that GP version of games dont get such useful features as FSR, DLSS. Very sad since according to some articles, Microsoft is the one not offering the devs the tools needed to implement these features
Thank you, really appreciate it! Yeah, the version difference is something I picked up when I first tried Ark: Survival Ascended. I saw people talk about FG and how it's needed, and then tried it on GP and saw no DLSS at all. Then I tried the Steam version and they were all there 🤷♂️ I actually want to compile a list of all the games on GP with their version numbers and compare it with Steam. I only tested 8 games here, but 4 of those didnt have feature-parity. I can only imagine how many out of all of them will be a much older version.
This is probably related to Steam being, well...a rather large DRM. Steam also does have a performance impact compared to GOG versions of the same game.
Hahaha! I dont like to struggle 🤣 Palworld is better, but stil quite a few shader compilation stutters unfortunately. But better than a few months ago.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews and btw,how did they manage to fix remnant 2's peformance issue?thats kinda strange for me :D,it used to deliver 65 fps on 4080 1440p native...
Yeah, performance at launch was crazy. My guess is due to all the backlash at the requiring DLSS they performed some optimizations. I know they supposedly worked on shadows a lot, but a few weeks after launch the game performed much better. I think I first tested it about 2 months after launch and it was mostly fine by then.
i do think maaybe its caused because steam its always running in the backgrownd with the game overlay, would be interesting to see another test with overlay disabled
My Steam overlay has been disabled for this video. I actually leave it disabled entirely on this machine as I do most of my benchmark runs with it. Edit: Just tested this theory, which is actually a good one, in Starfield, and there was no difference in performance between having the Steam overlay enabled vs disabled. It might have an effect on other games, but all my testing is done with the Steam overlay being disabled.

The .1% lows on certain games were really bad on the Xbox app versions
Yeah indeed. The average might be better but the stuttering is often worse.
Great video, it sucks there isnt feature parity or version parity in some titles..
Thank you!

The 1% lows on the GP dang this is really interesting video MPR!
Grounded on launch on GP was a stutterfest so was Wasteland 3 wow didn't expect to see Shadow of War
Yeah, while the averages might be better at times, the lows are often much worse.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews when I had so much stuttering on wasteland 3 via gamepass but not on steam I believe they are doing some DRM check in the background
Yeah, I have often seen people say that GP's DRM checks were a lot more intrusive than Steam's.

is both able to play with xbox/ ps5 on a server?
Some games have crossplay, but not all. As far as I know it doesnt matter which version you get, if it supports crossplay it will work.
This is probably related to Steam being, well...a rather large DRM.

Yeah, I think GOG will probably provide the best user experience as it is completely DRM free.

Pretty good idea for a video I must say.
Appreciate it! Really means a lot coming from you!
What is name of the app, u using for testing?? Is it free?
It's MSI Afterburner, and it's free yeah. I did a video on how to set it up as well if you are interested.

Most if not all used less system ram on xbox version.
