At $699, the Canon T7i has most of the features of the recently announced $2000 Canon 6Dmk2, but at a much much cheaper price. In terms of features to price ratio, the Canon T7i might be the best bang for the buck in the DSLR market right now. Sure there are many better cameras, but the T7i is a great value with very good picture quality. I am pleased with mine so far.
I’m gonna save everyone some time here and just say that if you want a DSLR primarily for videography, go the Canon route. If you want to have a DSLR for primarily photography, go Nikon. Simple as that. I’m exhausted seeing the beef between the fanbases. Both companies excel at their own things. One just happens to be better at photos, and the other at video.
It is better to shoot the video on a video camera. Universalism is not always good. My video camera can take photos. But for this I have a Nikon D5600 camera.
I own the 800D and I absolutely love it. The grip is very comfortable to hold for hours on end, but where the viewfinder sits above my eye can get a bit sore
Honestly, he isn't wrong about the processor determining how the pictures look at higher ISOs. The EXPEED 5 processor on the Nikon D500 makes the grain at ISO 25600 look absolutely stunning. I can't really say the same for EXPEED 4 at the same ISO... my D5500 always hovers between 100 and 4000. Anything higher than ISO 5000 cropped in looks like it has a fine layer of sand on top of the image.
my sony a7sii begs to differ :) But in all seriousness even with a t7i shooting 25,600, if the image is well exposed with good contrast between bright and dark objects. with some noise reduction you can get a usable image
I'm not very much into cameras but I think high iso is all about taking pictures in dark place at night where very low light is available and iso can help you take better pictures it's not for use at day time.
I looked at both, and ended up with the Nikon. The time lapse feature made a big difference. You can do that in both stills and movie. Plus, I am a bit biased towards Nikon in general. (I have an F5, an F2, and a couple of Nikkomats that I shot with film for many years!) To me, it is a better photo representation. I do shoot more video these days ( I tend towards Lumix and Black for those), and am still figuring that out as I go along, but the Nikkor lenses and image quality can't be beat IMHO! Again, it just seems like your preference.
I chose Nikon.. because my skin tone looks better with the NIkon.. I look more handsome so does my subjects!! The people/subjects..women look ore beautiful and men better looking.. and I do portrait photography! :)
Depends on what you want to do. Unfortunately a "do everything" camera has yet to be released. I was extremely torn between Nikon, Canon, Sony and even Fujifilm when I was trying to buy a camera because I wanted both image quality in photos and good, natural looking AF in videos. In the end I had to ask myself, "What am I going to be doing more?" and it turned out the answer was "Taking some damn good pictures." I've heard a lot of people say Nikon is better in low light. I don't know anything about DSLRs, since I'm still learning photography. But I thought it depends on the lens, not the camera? So if you get a lens with a wider aperture, it would be better in low light. So confused!

Nikon all the way, also I wouldn't judge a dslr on video capabilities, for it is for stills, and that's what video cameras are for. My vote is neither of these really, but a good refurbished d7200 rocks all the way, weather proofed, more manual controls, more solid, and more professional all the way around.
I find the D5600 the more enjoyable of the two cameras to shoot stills with due to its ergonomics and lighter weight. I think the control dial is in a much better spot on the Nikon.
That said, I do agree the Canon is better overall. Don't understand why Nikon has yet to implement a system similar to Dual Pixel AF in their cameras. They are falling behind. The one main advantage, superior image quality..Canon is closing the gap there as well.

One item I never see on reviews is remote shutter release. The D5600 does not support it , but the D5500 does which is also a cheaper camera by about $100.00 for the body. Both cameras are very close in specs, but no remote shutter release is a deal stopper for me.
I got a Nikon d5600 just two months ago .. my first ever DSLR ... suddenly youtube throws this in suggestion ... and should I doubt my buy ?? Till now all I have done is stills, but for summer I do have plans about video blogs .. I hope they do come out well.
I would like just mention the buffer capacity. On nikon D5600 by my suggestion it's only about 256 MB. With SD card Writing speed about 40MB/s ,I can only take 7 RAW pics before the buffer fills up and camera slows down. I highly recommend to use the fastest possible UHC I card with NIKON D5600 . Then your buffer freed up quickly. BTW I prefer nikon anyway 😁
So I'm looking at my first DSLR. I highly prefer the Canon T7i and 77D compared to Nikon D5600. In fact, I thought that the Canon having a guide mode was great, as well as I thought a better UI for shooting. And comparable Canon lenses are cheaper to Nikon's offerings. But one thing is making me greatly consider the Nikon... glass. Specifically, one piece of glass. The 35mm f/1.8G. I can't find a comparable good low-light lens by Canon for close to the price of the Nikon ($200). If anyone has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it.
It's sometimes better to go to someplace like BHPhoto to find lenses rather than the manufacturers sites. Why ? Better selection, and sometimes easier to find.. Not to mention 3rd party lenses, some of which are better and sometimes cheaper than Canon.. There are some that are close to 35mm f/1.8.. There are even F/1.4's...
As it showed in the video in year 2017 canon T7i(800d) is almost the same price of Nikon D5600. But in year 2020, the pricing is different. In China I just ordered a Canon 800D hours ago which is 20% more expensive than Nikon D5600. I need to shot more videos and the market tells us that 3 years later Canon 800D takes the lead. Second-handed Nikon D5600 owners say that Nikon D5600 is laggy which is a main reason why I choose Canon 800D to start my amatur career. :D 4k video sets (optical) are still very expensive while not everyone can watch 4K videos so easily. My iPhone 8 can shot 4k footage but I care more about the ISO lens thingy, especially for opitical cameras. Years ago I owned a go pro hero 5 which was stunning but nowadays the latest Go Pro Hero 8 is at the same price of Canon 800D, there is not reason for me to get this action camera if I don't dive (I did sometimes) or just shot videos everyday on earth. LOL. If I want to sell this Canon 800D years later, I won't lose more than the pricing decreasing of Go Pro series. That's the reason why I choose Canon 800D.
José Miranda good buy seriously, im in a social club and one of my friend uses d5600 while it is supposedly to be better in spec compared to my sl2, i find canon is very fast in real world for beginners camera
Canon has always been the leader of the two when it came to focusing systems. The differences in quality is subjective. And if shot in raw, most can be edited to your taste.
Actually ordered a canon 800d today, looking forward to sitting down with your 800d user's guide in a few days once it arrives and getting my new baby set up :)
Q: since I have the Nikon 5600 and I look to pursue vloging, which I worked hard and saved super hard to buy my camera. How can I improve my video quality or WHATEVER with what I already have? Maybe later I can invest in Canon... HEEELLLP Frokno
What would be people's recommendation - my last DSLR which I bought years ago and loved but haven't used for a long time was a Nikon D70s. Great way to learn basics. Anyway... my interests have returned to photography and increasingly videography. I've started a new business as a car broker (essentially) and I want to do some car reviews to add to my site and social media presence. For in car stuff I will most likely get a GoPro Hero 5, at least for mounting to windscreen anyway. However for external shots and taking proper photos I want to use a DSLR. Due to my history with Nikon so I am leaning that way. I also generally like the colour and clarity of Nikon more. I have a very tight budget for all this however, and don't really want to spend more than AU$1500 on the DLSR. As far as I can find, the D5600 is significantly cheaper than the 800d. I'm not convinced the AF would really make that much difference to the type of videos I want to make. To be honest, mostly I tend to think the D3400 would be fine, but I don't like the lack of mic input. Any advice would be very much welcome!
so got a silly question. i started off shooting film when 3200 iso was high. got my first dslr was a k10d. going to up grade. what would you use 25,600 iso for or higher. and how much noise is there
Get a Nikon D5300 or a Canon D700 those are best value for money. These new "upgraded" cameras are not worth the added price tag. And trust me an additional frame per second or a surreal ISO range doesnt matter at all. Spend the extra money on good glass.
and what does the app compariaon mean ......which one is more important do you think the camera or the app........both have different ranges hence different features are there
In many RUclips videos Nikon D5600 vs Canon T7i reviewers say overall better camera is the T7i, but almost always say you'll get sharper images with the D5600... Please, anyone comment or explain!
Mankirat Singh Canon T7i is really good than Nikon 5600d........ You must first look the specification for choosing the camera.... Then image quality and video quality comparison.....1st 1080p dual pixel AF canon low budget camera to beat nikon 5 series ...
There are a lot of people who judge them based on experience. They go get the cameras and then shoot with them, then tell the people what they found out by using them. Honestly, I like that way a little more. I like the comparison video/photos and what not. Otherwise, I could just look up the specs myself.
The distinction and call is easy. Stay where you're comfortable. They're both good cameras that will give you solid performance. Neither has anything that should make you contemplate shifting brands and giving up the familiarity that comes with that. So, if you're a Nikon guy, this is a solid choice. If Canon does it for you, you won't be disappointed. Stay with the one that brought you this far (and take a hard look at Sony when you get ready to step up from this one).
for stills, I say neither. Get a used d7100 for 500 dollars. Dual slots, weather sealed, in-body focus motor for D lenses, metal construction, more buttons and dials than entry level cameras, need I say more?
I got the Canon T7i for Mother’s Day and I absolutely love it. I used a Nikon Coolpix B500 before that so I am still getting used to all the things this Canon does and so far it’s great.
Hi Jared a real world review of the T7i and 77D would greatly be appreciated although my mind is set on the Canon side I think you can't go wrong with either camera. Great video and the wind tunnel test sold me (lol)!!!
I disagree with your assessment of the "buffer capacity" ... Canon thought it was important enough to write and put in their specs; Nikon decided it wasn't important enough to even write it down. That in itself says something ... Do all Nikon's not state the buffer size ? Just because Canon cared enough to include the spec, and Nikon didn't- then the check mark should be decidedly on the Canon side..
I'm not necessarily looking to upgrade, but to see if cannon would be better for the things I want to do down the road. Like for instance the cannon in this seems to be a lot better for video, with the dual pixel AF and all. Having the D5500 for a good time now I'm noticing the use of it in very low light situations and specifically for concerts is a bit tough getting a crisp clean video since the auto focus isn't the top shelf. If there are any tips on this situation I'm all ears. keeps me from buying another $700 body. But I do agree with getting more glass in the time being. Also appreciate the reply!!
TFK1331 if you're all about video Canon is the way to go and you will benefit by jumping ship, but in photography nikon with the lack of anti alias filter and better color saturation is superior in my opinion. If you stick with nikon, glass before body.
Agreed, Nikon glass is top notch. You could be using an old D40 and the pictures would still look amazing as long as you're hitching quality on the front of the body and use proper technique.
It’s easy. I don’t know why anyone says this. Nikon = photography Canon = vídeo recording Of course the canon is better than the nikon on video recording because of the dual AF system. But the nikon is soo good for photography. The colors are better and has better contrast. Not to mention, cannon photos have noise.
So for a beginner that will do pics and will do time to time video, what is better to start? Easier to learn, better results, easier to use, and durable....I will have it for a long time. The use of the camera will be portraits, landscape, sports (video and pictures), holidays, beach, snow, forests...etc. Im looking for the best allrounder between this two..
the thing is that there isn't an allaround winner between this two. what I'm trying to say is that both cameras are great for both photography and video recording. the only difference is that nikon is better for photography than canon but is worse for video recording. If you are confused and don't know what to buy, it's easy. think of what you are going to do more having this camera. if you think that you will be doing more video recording than photography, in that case is better to buy a canon and vice versa.
canon t7i or nikon d5500 which camera is better for still normal photography (I don't need to shoot videos)?? I just want to know that which camera has the better image quality and more clear picture.
I have the cannon T7i as my first real major purchase. Coming from a cool pix small hand held and my iPhone. I have LR and PS to learn how to edit. I got lucky and will say I am going to buy one more lense to round out the set I bought. For every day shooting I don't see a issue with the F4 lenses. But want faster lenses to see what I am missing. I follow Jared and have learned much. Once I get comfy with the LR I may buy into his edits. No matter which camera you have, they both are good starters and you will be happy with either one unless you have full sensor camera. I want to expand out to night photography. From what I see these are ok to start out with, but your gonna want a full sensor camera.
JP, you couldn't compare buffer sized on both cameras however the cannon shoots 14 bit raw at 6 fps and holds 21 shots in the buffer. To my that speaks to the Canon having an edge on buffering. Not scientific but obvious? PJ
I already own several Nikon lenses so it probably would be silly for me to switch to Canon now, but from my experience it has always seemed to me that Canon cameras produced more beautiful color. Nikon color always seems subdued to me, unless you start tweaking it with software. Canon color is delicious right out of the camera, even on my little G10.
I'm thinking about getting into the photography world right now and most likely will by next month. I've had my eye on the t7i for a while but didn't know all the specs till now and mostly because it's the model they always have to try out at Best Buy and Walmart. That being said... I've heard Nikon is far superior in quality than any Cannon from my photographer friend. I'm looking to mostly shoot stills of nature or astrology but also very interested in the video quality I want to be able to take awesome crisp video... I know I'm not in the price range of a 4k camera like the D7500 or the Z7 ii ( which seem awesome!!!) this video really helped out I still cant decide though.. Agggggh!

Bro
What u will suggest
Canon or nikon
I am going to buy .
Actually ordered a canon 800d today, looking forward to sitting down with your 800d user's guide in a few days once it arrives and getting my new baby set up :)
which one should i take from this both for landscape and potrait photography
I'll go with Canon T7i(800D)
Q: since I have the Nikon 5600 and I look to pursue vloging, which I worked hard and saved super hard to buy my camera. How can I improve my video quality or WHATEVER with what I already have? Maybe later I can invest in Canon... HEEELLLP Frokno
My Canon X7i arrived 2 days before l watched this video.l appear to have made the right choice.Cheers dude...
Darren Walshe what is an x7i?
Any advice would be very much welcome!
so got a silly question. i started off shooting film when 3200 iso was high. got my first dslr was a k10d. going to up grade. what would you use 25,600 iso for or higher. and how much noise is there
I wanted honestly the nikon but people said that its more focused for photos so that was kinda a deal breaker
Sponsored by Canon (he just forgot to say it in the video)
Which means you don't watch this channel at all, he is almost a Nikon fanboy.
Yeah he loves Nikon.
For pics NIKON > CANON
For vids, vice versa
Make your decision based on that folks!
Ordered my t7i I'm waiting patiently :)
Get a Nikon D5300 or a Canon D700 those are best value for money. These new "upgraded" cameras are not worth the added price tag. And trust me an additional frame per second or a surreal ISO range doesnt matter at all. Spend the extra money on good glass.
and what does the app compariaon mean ......which one is more important do you think the camera or the app........both have different ranges hence different features are there
Great counting. Not only for the the content but specially the way you compared.
In many RUclips videos Nikon D5600 vs Canon T7i reviewers say overall better camera is the T7i, but almost always say you'll get sharper images with the D5600... Please, anyone comment or explain!
Which one is best for photography?
WTF is this? Judging cameras on the basis of specs? Are you kidding me? I thought you did reveiws.
Mankirat Singh
Canon T7i is really good than Nikon 5600d........
You must first look the specification for choosing the camera.... Then image quality and video quality comparison.....1st 1080p dual pixel AF canon low budget camera to beat nikon 5 series ...
It has everything to do with specs
What do you judge cameras on? Sniff test? Drop test? Of course, you judge it based on the specifications.
There are a lot of people who judge them based on experience. They go get the cameras and then shoot with them, then tell the people what they found out by using them. Honestly, I like that way a little more. I like the comparison video/photos and what not. Otherwise, I could just look up the specs myself.
fuck you i have t7i and it's dynamic range is bull shit
the only thing holding the D5600 back is Snapbridge
I agree. In fact I'm going to buy a Nikon D7200 cuz I have some D lens form an old analog camera of my dad.
I got the Canon T7i for Mother’s Day and I absolutely love it. I used a Nikon Coolpix B500 before that so I am still getting used to all the things this Canon does and so far it’s great.
Lisa Fousek how does it do with moving objects (like trains and cars)???
The wind tunnel and sniff test nearly took me out😂😂 well I was buying the t7i (800D) before watching this video. This only sealed the deal🙂
i will go with the canon 800d
Which one is image quality better?
Great video thank you!👍
Hi Jared a real world review of the T7i and 77D would greatly be appreciated although my mind is set on the Canon side I think you can't go wrong with either camera.
I have heard that the software in Canon is easier than Nikon, is that true? Because this will help me to pick up the Canon
To me, canon software is more ergonomic
Im using this to see if i want to move from Nikon to cannon since I already had a D5500 and the new D5600 isn't much different
you don't need to upgrade to a D5600 or anything else. GET GLASS.
Jared Polin I own the nikon d5500 with the 18-55 kit lens and the 18-200 tamron which is a great combination for walking around London with.
Jared, the canon app doesnt allow you to shot or even download video trough the app
It’s easy. I don’t know why anyone says this.
Nikon = photography
Canon = vídeo recording
Of course the canon is better than the nikon on video recording because of the dual AF system.
As for me, Canon is better and easier than Nicon
I have Canon 800d and my friend Nikon d5600, she Likes my photos more than her 😂
Its all about skills, not gears
can Nikon D5600 change aperture while shooting video?
JP, you couldn't compare buffer sized on both cameras however the cannon shoots 14 bit raw at 6 fps and holds 21 shots in the buffer. To my that speaks to the Canon having an edge on buffering. Not scientific but obvious? PJ
So what would be good for just taking pictures of moving cars or trains? PLEASE ANSER!! Thanks
Thanks for the advice, al take the T7i
I'm thinking about getting into the photography world right now and most likely will by next month. Agggggh!
this is often just numbers you should give more of your expert opinion on both on regards of the sensors etcetera
Getting the t7i. I plan to shoot videos and stills. Great review 👍🏾
Went with the canon
i m a begginner and want to take still photographs .then which camera i should buy ?? is that canon or nikon ? please ans me
I BOND nikon
Buy a Sony
Most unbiased reviews say the Nikon is better for stills.
