- The 5th show in Bob Carlton’s 2015 SubSonex airshow season was flown at Dillon Colorado’s “Highest Show on Earth” June 13, 2015. The airshow is held over the Dillon Reservoir with a surface elevation of 9,017 ft MSL and density altitude exceeding 11,000 ft… an environment in which many piston showplanes struggle. The SubSonex performed exceptionally well in this challenging environment, taking off at a high density altitude airport 35 miles away from the show site, having the power to complete vertical and over-the-top maneuvers, and the range to get back to the field with a reduced aerobatic fuel load, including some sightseeing!

Brilliant footage . Phenomenal aircraft and pilot plus beautiful scenery , thanks.
Best video ever.
Well done..outstanding!
Wow. Simply, wow. REALLY loved the last 60 seconds when he was buzzing the mountain. Incredible.
I want a Sonex so much. Thank you very much for sharing this.
Great video.
This is the best subsonex video on RUclips
Looks like the plane handled the mountains very well. Bob's performance seemed exceptional, as always.
incredible.......
very cool!
Nice. Seems like an incredibly long takeoff roll. Do you compute a refusal speed, or just roll the dice?
Seems like a huge oversight not taking video from the ground as well.
Oversight? More like impossibility. If he stood on the ground with a camera, who’d be flying the plane?
@@danc6297 clearly when you do a unique performance such as this you plan in advance for an earthling to be present to record it.
Dear Santa....
Thanks so much for taking me along on this one. Great camera. Would this be the new Conestoga getting ready for the new pioneer adventure. How about a shopping center with no road, only sky and special landing strip(s.) With a club or two and a hotel. Breaking the surly bonds of Earth, flying.
any ground footage from Dillon?
Makes me want to attach a tippet and BWO for a trip down the Blue.
Looks like fun .. great minuvers, . having fun at your age make you feel like your a kid . LOL Have fun .
Flith good
You could buzz Colfax in that
Next time show the landing for a change.
What kind of Air-Speeds was Bob Carlton making during his flight, like take-off speed, entry speeds for loops, and other aerial maneuvering speeds? And then, what is the landing speed of this great jet aircraft? Keep-up the excellent work on these designs in Airplanes, and thanks for sharing.
It was on the display. 260mph on fly by 85-100 on landing
can any one tell me what the lb thrust is there
just under 300ft lb
Hmmmm, 100 grands including avionics IS NOT BAD !
