    I do think that one company has finally succeeded in making a micro jet that a well trained pilot can actually fly and this company is SONEX! You do not have to be James Bond anymore to fly a jet like this...Amazing!!!

    Congrats to the whole Sonex team! A thought, though: You might want to offset the blade antenna on the underside a few inches to either side... Seems to me that if its really in-line behind the nose wheel (as the underbelly video seems to show), its susceptible to FOD damage on T/O or Landing. Otherwise she looks like a sweet ride!

    As proof of concept, it's brilliant. However, 2 seats with a bit of baggage room would be more practical. Also, what about pilot licensing? Would one need a type rating?

    • @jeremymonnett8769
      @jeremymonnett8769  10 лет назад +1

      Two seats=Much more money...about $60K more just for the engine...then there's twice the gas...twice the size...

    • @jeremymonnett8769
      @jeremymonnett8769  10 лет назад +1

      Licensing...pilot needs an LOA to operate. There is a process to achieve this. More flight time...especially jet time means LOA easier to get.

    Nice little jet and congrats on the successful maiden flight. An issue that top mounted engine installation have is the threat of engine failure at takeoff and the potential flipping of the aircraft especially at the hands of inexperienced pilots. I'm interested to learn how the JSX designers may have tried to minimize this threat.

    • @unfortunately_fortunate2000
      @unfortunately_fortunate2000 5 лет назад

      to me it looks like their canted rudder fins are slanted like that not only to minimize damage if the engine 'splodes', and, to act like stabilizers. plus that blade antenna looks like its positioned in the centre of the underbody and purposefully made to be rather large for further stabilization, however I think that last thought's a bit of a stretch personally.

  • @shreddder999
    @shreddder999 4 года назад

    Excellent work Sir. One question. Is that what would be considered a normal landing roll? I would imagine it was difficult to package the brakes in such a compact set of main gear and then make it retract. Seems adequate enough though.

    Hi I have another question and that is did you or are you planning on testing the emergency chute because that would be well worth seeing in action possibly taking away any anxiety that people will have about what if? kinds of questions, I know that it having the chute is and would be a major selling point for me. How hard does the plane come down with the chute deployed 1/2 full of fuel and a 165lb pilot?.

    Nice bird. love the V-tail. I always loved the Bonanza and believed a V Tail gave a smaller aircraft more stability than a conventional T-Tail. AND it looks a lot more stable than the BD-5 ever did. they should have kept that bird a prop with a properly powered engine, IMHO) What's your V1 rotation speed? and Range? I'm an LSA pilot and I always love to see someones dreams take flight. Without the benefit of flying her, it appears you you have a "Nice Flying Airplane" there.

    • @GutpileCharlie
      @GutpileCharlie 10 лет назад +2

      Jeremy Monnett I don't base it on any standard. I was talking about the landing touch down speed....it just seemed awfully fast and the roll seemed long. All my flying has been rag wing taildraggers and Wichita spam cans. :-)

    • @phillipzx3d
      @phillipzx3d 10 лет назад

      As he's crossing the numbers, it looks like he's not going much faster than a 182 Turbo Skylane. Where are you seeing this "high touchdown speed?" Your spam cans must have all been in 150/2's if you felt he was going all that fast.
      I'm guessing he touched down @ around 65...70 tops.

    • @unfortunately_fortunate2000
      @unfortunately_fortunate2000 5 лет назад

      its a jet powered aircraft though you must remember, they're incredibly light & powerful little fuckers, they're ALWAYS going to have a LONGER rolling time when compared to a piston driven aircraft. not to mention landing speed are always going to be higher as-well, especially with this tiny little guy! ;]@@GutpileCharlie

    • @shreddder999
      @shreddder999 3 года назад

      @@unfortunately_fortunate2000 You are going to maintain a higher approach speed in case you need to do a go around because a turbojet/turbofan engine takes longer to spool up.

      It would seem if anything, the engine cutting out would cause it to nose down (which would actually result in an altitude gain and a little time to think).
      I can't imagine that these planes are going to go out with engines that just stop running due to a roll, though.

    very expensive toy. For those $150.000 I can buy a REAL aircraft. Example: A Beechcraft B60 Duke, twin engines. 6 seats (1+5) and a range of 1.100 NM. (NYC to MIA= 950nm or 1090 statute mi) versus the 480 statute mi. That is less than midway to miami.
