- We checked out the subsonex micro jet yesterday. Here is Evan from McLaren Aerospace / mclarenaerospace giving us a detail look at the aircraft.

I know that everything is calculated by engineers but it never ceases to amaze me how simple and flimsy the connection between the turbine and the fuselage seems. Pretty nice aircraft, I like it. Saludos.

Entirely unsafe construction - 'severall g sideloads will cause plane and turbine to separat, disintegrate'. The position and logic of/behind the fuel valve seem to be just as well brilliant: by longing over my shoulder i may shut of fuel if i want to, or do it accidently when longing to my neck.
And its weight seems to be staticly unbalanced already, way to light to the front? Cabin ventilatation unsufficient, etc. - but it may fly acctually.
I am sorry, but ...amateur constructions are always easy to identify? The builder talks about the materials he used - not calculus and equations and (number and costs of) iteration-cycles - a pitty. Most of the time i stand and listen - we all speak. But i think we all hope it will fly - someday.

What about other light kit planes like the amphibious-plane Icon A5 with a rear facing propeller? How feasible and complex would it be to replace the propeller with this jet engine?
hmm..or mounting two or three of them to the rear of a car chassis? Forget street legal. Will it work?

Pretty cool sounding engine! Very high pitched and high revs!!! I wonder how the plane would glide if the power was lost? I bet you'd need to be very close to and almost lined up on a runway to pull off a deadstick landing in that little jet!!!
I'm no engineer, but those little engine mount bolts do not inspire gobs of confidence. It is a very cool plane for someone though. Mostly just zipping around the skies like a baby fighter jet but fun stuff for sure!
I am waiting when they start delivering side-by-side version of this!

Nice. My only complaint is the location of the Fuel Tank. Wouldn't be keen to wearing it in my back like that at 10,500
I can use that engine installed inside the fake oilcooler inlet of the turbo prop Falconer Mustang. In case I want it go ballistic

Four place would be the Morane Saulnier Paris or the Saab 105 ! But they're in the jet trainer range of size, not the super small experimental aircraft that you can build in your garage :)

Shouldnt the engine make suction or what not to power the gear and not fill up a tank to do it. More money to keep refilling it.
Engine provides electrical power for the pumps to fill tank
You could potentially take bleed air to fill the tanks. It's just such a small engine, they might not recommend it. Diverted bleed air = higher temps on the engine = more stress on the engine. Large engines have no trouble with this.
Also, I am an A&P, but I'm still trying to get a job. I only have the book learning. If anyone else knows better, feel free to correct me!

The V-tail Bonanza did not fare too well so I'm wondering about this design. Would have loved to see a baseball cap go through the intake
It's a Y-tail, so not like the Bonanza

@@joenenninger971 The V lacks stability because those two angled surfaces are your rudder and vertical stabilizer. The Y tail has a real rudder/stabilizer.

The forward visibility does NOT look to be very good at all. The metal frame of the canopy hit right in the center of the pilots vision. There's no need for the canopy to be laid down so flat like that. Also the dash panel is just way to high up. I'd redesign both to make it much better.

It has jet engine for thrust, airfoil wings allowing for lift, working landing gears and aircontrols. I think it's ready to fly.
Fibreglass and ABS plastic, but no CF? Interesting.
CF is heavier and stiffer than GF, as long as its not structural i understand their choice of using GF and ABS. ABS is super light as well and cost effective.
CF isnt the answer to everything !

It's sad that here in the US they cannot even make and engine like this so we don't have to import it from foreign countries. They build this jet plane right here but you cannot really claim entirely made in the US of A.

It needs a sweep delta wing for added fuel capacity and lift area, also needs a second engine. This kit could be much better.
No. That would require higher speeds, have poor stall characteristics and result in many accidents from mishandling.

Fuel in the cabin is not a great idea but sometimes as in ferrying there's no where else to put it.
