Beautiful planes. I’ve been shopping for a Waiex with the nose wheel. Really hard to find.

Tim, how have the new wing tips affected the stall speed and cruise speeds of your planes? Which engines do you have installed?

David, I'm flying the stock Aerovee 80 hp. Jerry is flying the turbo Aerovee. Both have had an increase in climb of 200 ft. per min. Stall has decreased about 4 mph. The cruise is a better. The main goal for the tips is to have better climb performance at gross and be able to fly with a passenger on days of 7000 ft density altitude. I am very happy with the new performance.

What material are they manufactured out of... Fiberglass, Carbon fiber? Do you plan on selling these or was this just a one off for you and a friend? I would certainly be interested, but I am curious how it would effect the high end cruise performance? How much wing area is added and what was the total length added to the wing? I have seen quite a few people trying vortex generators lately but this is the first I have seen someone replace the whole wingtip... kudos, and well done! I am definitely curious about these for my Waiex B... I apologize up front for all the questions. 😄

Here is a few common Q&A.
      - Wing span from 22 original to 26 ft
      - Wing area from 98 original to 114 sq. ft.
      - Full carbon fiber- Kevlar molded skins / Aluminum spar extension
      - 8 lbs per tip
      - Rate of climb increase 200 - 250 ft. per min.
      - Stall was reduced by 4 mph indicated.
      - Cruise speed had a small increase do to lower AOA.
      - Top speed remained the same.
      - Original wing tip is cut square and new tip is drilled and cherry riveted to the top and bottom wing skin as well as an aluminum spar extension.
      - $2,200 per set is the current price. Plus shipping.

Those new wing tips are gorgeous, reason enough to consider them. The increase in climb along with decreased stall speed is also pretty impressive. My question is, do they have much effect on the roll rate and is the aircrafts aerobatic rating (6+/3-) still at original spec with the longer wing? Thanks!
