Am a Walther guy from way back but your review pretty much just closed the deal for me. Have been a bit undecided but every review I watch gives the PPQ SC a thumbs up. Good job, sir. Well done.

Great video good sir. Very in depth and informative. I literally purchased mine this morning along with a set of TruGlo TXF pro's to be installed upon arrival. Christmas present to myself lol. Can't wait to go shooting. Thanks for being straight forward and honest about a great product. Happy holidays!

The PPQ SC is my 18 yr-old niece's favorite pistol to shoot. She just likes the "feel of it." And she can HIT with it. Loading the mag is a bit difficult for her, but she can do it when I tell her to "gut-up." lol. She can also field-strip it, clean it and re-assemble it... So, ladies, maybe that helps a bit. Hope so.

I think Walther has one of the best, if not the best, out of the box triggers. Even their budget gun the Creed, which I love, has a very good trigger. Great review.

Nicely done video, JH! Vast improvement over the standard PPQ. Not sure why you had so many issues with the PPQ.
I have the 5" slide PPQ M2 and it's a great pistol. Yes, there's a bit of muzzle flip, but it's controllable. Walther has great build quality. I love the way the slide cycles, even brand new out of the box. Ergos and trigger are superior.
Nice job on the comparisons with a few other guns. Good to see this SC version performed well for you. I think my G26 is a bit worried now!

First time to your channel - I really enjoyed your review; very thorough and informative! I'm assuming you're LE from the flag - Walther offers a sizeable discount for LE/Military; I received excellent customer service from Mary Bryant with the LE/Military program (in case you're interested in future purchases). One thing I miss coming from Glock is the interchangable magazines between models (kudos to Glock on this feature). You really need to keep model-specific magazines separate between Walther "siblings" (i.e. PPQ M2 SC [red] will not work in P99C AS [blue] and vice versa). I also wish that Walter offered the PPQ M2 SC with the paddle magazine release . . . this is featured on the P99C AS and it is a game-changer since I shoot both left & right-handed.
Speaking of the P99C AS . . . if you can get your hands on one please make sure you have money to put down - you won't regret it! It's guaranteed to put a smile on your face!
Back to the Glock magazine topic: the versatility I mentioned is truly a valid point when you have multiple pistols or even a carbine (such as the newer Ruger PC carbine) . . . just food for thought.
Kudos on your channel and production content/quality - keep up the good work!

I have a PPQ M2 4" 9 mm and love shooting it. So when I saw a PPQ SC for sale a $442 I immediately jumped and bought it on the spot. It turned out to be the LE version and came with three magazines and two back straps. Large and Medium with the latter installed on the gun. I just read the manual last night and still need to clean oil and go shoot this gun. It's been a while since I went to the range and shot my other PPQ due changes that the State made to the shooting range. They fenced it in and now I can't park next to the shooting bench and unload my stuff right there. I have to walk a ways to the opening in the fence and then carry all my stuff a ways to the shooting bench once inside the fence. So I don't like that at all. I need to get me a wagon or something to carry all my stuff in one trip now. I'm disabled due to a bad heart. I found out last week that 2 of my coronary artery bypasses have failed. I had 4 bypasses ten years ago. Dr did a stress test on me and I failed the test. Then I had a heart catheterization and that showed that two of my bypasses failed. I get out of breath if I have to walk too far. So it's hard to go shooting these days. Plus I'm getting over treatments for cancer which has weakened my body considerably. Still, I could not resist grabbing this Walther PPQ SC as soon as I saw it and pulled the trigger on it at the gun store. I'd been reading about it and knew it was my next gun purchase as soon as it came out. The gun sits well in my hand and I have small hands. I'm anxious to go shooting soon. I have a No. 4 size Uncle Mikes pocket holster that I was using to carry my Ruger LC9S Pro gun and the Uncle Mikes pocket holster fits the PPQ SC pretty good. So I'm good for a holster now. I carry my EDP in a 5.11 Holster Shirt under a 3XL fishing shirt for cover. So it's comfortable to carry my gun all day long and easy to get too when I need it. The 5.11 Holster shirt is very comfortable and I own two of them in black color and one in white color. The PPQ M2 4" 9mm trigger allows me to shoot better and I expect the same from the PPQ SC model too.

Good review. I love my SC. 1500 plus rounds and no problems. BTW I have plenty of range time with the PPQ M2 mags in the SC. Not a problem yet. That being said I'll stick to the SC mags only for carry.

I absolutely love the Walther PPQ SC! Great gun for the price, and she shoot’s like a dream. Not tooting my own horn, but I’m a surgeon with my Walther, and with just the regular sight.🤣👍🏼👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And your right, it fits like a glove in my hand, and I have big hands. When I shoot with the ten round magazine, I just tuck my pinky under the mag, and I shoot it just as good as I do, if not better than the fifteen round magazine.💯👍🏼👍🏼

The Q5 match triggers are slightly lighter and cleaner breaking as well. Dry fire both side by side and there’s a noticeable difference. Some say it’s just a blue trigger shoe on the match, they are wrong because walther did something to the internals to make it slightly better. See for yourself

Very thorough review! I shot one of these yesterday, and I did have an issue with the mag release button during my shooting. I didn't notice that little ridge you pointed out, so I'm wondering if it's something that Walther has modified or what. The button really seemed to stick out more than what you're showing...so it might be as simple as modifying my grip a little or moving on to purchase something else. Just wondering your thoughts on this...

I have a couple of ppq’s and was looking forward to buying this once walther announced its release. However I’m not real happy about the design changes they made to the internals, except the dual recoil spring. The original ppq is pretty much a p99 design that’s proven with minor changes since they ditched the da trigger mechanism. What about the roll pin in the rear of the slide? What does that hold in?

Interesting to hear you had problems with your full size PPQ. I do as well. All types of ammo, and same issues no matter who is shooting it. Failure to feed mostly and sometimes a stove pipe on ejection. And its not once in a while....it is two or three malfuntions every mag. Any one else have these issues, and were you able to correct it?

Would you consider doing a comparison test between the Walther PPQ sc versus the Beretta APX compact 9mm ?
I know these aren't first choice EDC pistols but there are a few of us, me included, that can't quite get over the blocky grip feel of the Glock 19 series.
My department issued Glocks inspire confidence, reliability, accuracy, but if I was to purchase an off-duty pistol; I'd like to consider the Walther PPQ sc and the Beretta APX compact

Walther P99/Q series are the most reliable, accurate, ergonomic striker pistols by far. They have been for 20+ years now. In Europe they are the premier law enforcement pistol brand and actually cost more than the HK's that are $800-1000 in the US.

  • @bdm1000

Great review. I almost pulled the trigger on one earlier this year, but ended up getting a G26.5. I loved the trigger, and I was really loving it, but I had one issue with the Walther that proved to be a dealbreaker. The tang/beavertail area hits the edge of my thumb knuckle. I have what I think are average-sized hands (a large glove that I usually go with is usually a little small, and an extra large is usually a tad too large). Interestingly enough, I had the same problem on the two PPS (classic and M2) that I had. These were the only Walthers I've owned, but whether we're talking double stack or single stack, they hit me the wrong way, and it really hurts after 100-150 rounds. So much so that I can't shoot it again for weeks while other guns (like a Glock or S&W M&P) can be shot during that time of healing with no problem. I've never had a chance to try the larger backstrap for the SC (if they have one), but I can't bring myself to try another Walther for fear I'm going to have to sell it again. Otherwise, it is a really, really nice pistol with a trigger to die for.

Could anyone point me to the direction of metal/night sights for the SC? There seems to be none made for the SC specifically but I've heard from various sources that any sight for the regular PPQ will fit, others say otherwise. Some sources say PPS sights will work in the PPQ SC. It's kind of irritating that I can't find anything, even videos, of sight installations or concrete answers to which sights will guaranteed work for the SC.
