I am in my golden years. Uh huh. I stay tired and have looked for things to help with that. I have been quilting for 40 years. taut myself as best i could, then I found PBS and started to learn why I had the problems I had. this is all well and good but ...... then I found MSQco and you have opened new doors for me. I love how your mind works; I find it incredible how you rethink how quilts are put together and make them even better and easier. please keep doing the wonderful things you do. thanks so much barb may.
Looks like the beautiful pow wow blankets. OMG Jenny 😃 I'm so freaking excited. Coffee with Jenny 💕 Thank you for teaching me. This is an answer to prayer. I didn't have a grandma. Thank you Thank you. Bless her little butt.💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I am SO excited!!! Approximately 34 years ago I bought fabric for a Bear Paw quilt in anticipation of the birth of my first son (no idea why I decided on such a complex quilt for a total novice--and I still am by the way). So instead of making a beautiful quilt, I gave up. But now there's hope. I may be able to do this after all! Thanks, Jenny. This is encouraging!!!!
Oh Jenny - you totally outdid yourself with the Bear Paw! I am definitely in LOVE with this easy way to make a challenging quilt block. Thank you for your brain!! And sharing it FREE with the rest of your fans. This Papa Bear Quilt is NEXT for me to do. GREAT ideas, colors & all other wonderful things you teach us! (I also LOVED your story telling!)
It was a joy to meet you at QuiltCon yesterday, along with Vanessa, the Crafty Gemini (another RUclips teacher I love) and today I am going to stand in line to have my new ModBlock signed. Can't wait to visit Hamilton, MO next week as we drive back to IL from Austin.
It was such fun talking with you today, Jenny. I LOVED the story of the Mickey Mouse watch that you rescued and wear all the time. I'm such a big fan and so grateful for your teaching on RUclips and Craftsy. Thanks for all your energy to keep up the weekly tutorials.
I know this is an old video and has tons of comments already, but I just have to tell you how grateful I am for these simple instructions. I spent several hours yesterday trying to follow the directions of another well known channel to make the bear paw block. I finally ended up so frustrated after cutting, sewing, ripping and doing it all over again that I just threw the whole mess in the trash can. Seriously, who cuts 2 7/8" squares??? Anyway, I got my second wind and went searching again for easier instructions and lo and behold....there was Jenny to my rescue! I have just completed one very successful, beautiful Bear Paw Block and I have enough confidence to tackle a throw size quilt. As a new quilter, I just can't thank you folks enough for the great tutorials and everything else you do for us.
Jenny-Your enthusiasm and joy are a blessing and motivation! My first quilt was a bear paw, but without your ingenious way of using 2-1/2" strips. And the description of the different bear quilts-how fun! Hear my fabric stash calling!
I too am lefthanded and I have taught many people to crochet. They simply sit across from me , just like you are to the right handers and it's perfect.
Jenny, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I simply love your tutorials. You make everything look so simple. You have simplified even some of the old difficult blocks. All of your hard work is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. Although I am crocheting right now, I still quilt also. I've just completed a crocheted cabled baby cardigan, a round pineapple baby blanket & crocheted stuffed clown for a friend who's expecting. So, I'm going to be getting back into my quilting soon. Again, thank you for all of your hard work & fun tutorials. Love them all.
This is my favourite of your wonderful quilting videos, and I am already a fan. I am making this quilt for my brother, who is a retired forest economist. He wanted something from nature.
I have had this pattern for several years and thought it was too much work ....but now that I see just how to make it with absoluteloy no strain, I will definitely try it! Thanks Jenny for all your tutorials...I really look forward to them. This morning you were so cheerful that I almost forgot it was snowing outside here in NC mountains. I really love watching you. God bless you! Ella in NC.
OMG Jenny! I could watch you all day long!! I love your humor and you make these quilts so easy anyone will know they can do them. Thank you so much for sharing all these fabulous ideas and please keep them coming!
You have a wonderful way to make the bearpaw block more efficient!! Now we just need a project that uses up those tiny triangles that get cut off of the "snowballs" ! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Jenny, I just want to say everyone of your videos brightens my days. Your loving, fun personality shines out and touches my heart. Thank you!!! This is just one of many of your quilts I cannot wait to start!
Oh My Goodness! I love this tutorial! Jenny you are a hoot. You always make my Friday special. How you keep these tutorials coming week after week with everything you have going on is beyond me, but I thank you! I see a Bear Paw in my future!
You've done it again! The quilting fairy has truly been around lately...this is another super easy way of making a tedious block. I look forward to Friday's to see what new item will on these tutorials. Greetings from Stuttgart, Germany!
Thanks Jenny for another great way to make a beautiful block a little simpler.......The Bear Paw is such a rich traditional quilt......I took like the warm deep colors.......going to make one for each of my children and grandchildren.....I have started the first and at the size you showed us...but I am thinking I may keep adding until it fits the full size quilt.....but then this size you showed is much easier to quilt on my domestic machine.....so still thinking on that......but excited to get more started.....I have done many of your patterns....thank you...I now get your magazine auto mail to me.....cannot Wait for the first o be to come thru
I am new to quilting, and I just LOVE your tutorials. Jenny, (Momma Bear) you just make my day. You make learning this wonderful craft so much fun. You tube had taught me to crochet like a mad woman, quill like a whirl wind, and quilt like..... Well im still working on my first piece, and as soon as my order from MSQC comes in i can really git er done! Thank you for inspiring me and being such a great teacher and tutorialist!
You're in the right place to start sewing! :) What fabrics did you order and what pattern are you going to start with? We would love to see pictures!! :)
I purchased Plum perfect charm pack, 2x night at the opera charm pack and 1 layer cake of the same and a handful of templates including the 5" tumbler and the layer cake sized Dresden. I am actually making my first quilt out of some flannel by the yard and a flannel jelly roll i got at a local big box store and incorporating that with some receiving blankets that were a friends daughters. I am making the quilt for her daughter as a keepsake. I plotted out all of the types of squares i want to make and need the dresden template to make a few if them. I know i have taken a huge undertaking with this project, and i had actually posted a plea for help under another video today (disappearing pinwheels) as i wasn't planning to sash the quilt and really wanted to do the whole thing myself and need to figure out how to quilt-as-you-go for this one. I may have to sash it, but i wont know until i get all if the blocks made and laid out. I would love to send a pic if the finished product to you all as 99.9% of what I know about quilting has been learned by watching Jenny. As for the material i bought from you, i am so excited to make a nice lap blanket and maybe even a couple of pillows out of them, and maybe a bag too. I love the night at the opera fabric!
I loved how you made this so simple Jenny. I just bought a Baby Lock Elizabeth and she and I are looking for some fun stuff to make. I'm so glad you showed the variations (with animation) on how this pattern would look if I chose baby bear. I'm not to keen on so much white so I'm thinking of trying a solid yellow (my favorite color) strip that will end up in the center. I'll try complete square first too see if that pleases my eyes. You are a great inspiration Jenny. Hope to see you in your shop someday when the husband and I are searching out America.
I gave you a challenge Jenny and you came through like a trouper! I love the tumblingblocks (rumbus) quilt with out y seams? thank you for making it easy for me!💕💕💕💕💕
I've got a great autumn roll up. Now I just need to get an off white jelly roll and some black. You made the greatest bear claw ever! Thank you so much! What a great way to use the internet!!
Made my first bearpaw quikt thanks to this video Jenny . thank you so much for making so easy. Was a block i always wanted to do but was completely intimitldated by it
you are a genius ! I love the way your mind works. I have been trying to make this pattern with HSTs (UGH!) for my granddaughter's wedding quilt, but she wants the 'claws' to be contrast color. So I used your instructions and figured out how to make the claws. Thanks so much for simplifying this pattern!
You are so hilarious the more excited you get! I've always wanted to make a bear paw and I have the jelly rolls so I don't have any excuses now. Thanks for this tutorial. I love to see the old, conventional blocks put together with older looking fabrics.
This is the most stunning Bear Paw quilt that I have ever seen. And boy, I have seen a lot as it is one of my favorite quilts too. Besides, I live in Maine where we have bear all around us. Thanks so much to Jenny and crew at Missouri Star Quilt Company for everything you do for us quilters. This is definitely a quilt I am going to make.... the good Lord willing. I just added it to my January quilt calendar. My first entry for 2020. The way I do it, this quilt will definitely be my first quilt of the new year. Love your story of the candy quilt and baby bear quilt. Laughed tons. Love that baby bear quilt. You folks are ‘good folks’ as my grandma would say. !!!
Jenny you are so amazing. I really love this idea of papa , mamma bear and baby bear. Colors are always nice and I just love your tutorials. I can't wait to start this.!! I have so many of your quilts on my to do list. You sure keep me inspired and busy. I hope your tutorials stay on RUclips forever as I refer back to them quite frequently. You're the QUEEN of quilt tutorials simplified techniques. Thanks so much.
Missouri Star Quilt Company The 'Baby Bear' Version - as I love the star formation it makes. Maybe even applique a tiny something in the center of this 'star'! Each version is special though and I LOVED the reference to Papa, Mama and Baby Bear - this will stick with me whenever I sew a Bear Paw Block now.
You are a genius Jenny! Thank you for another amazing tutorial. I look forward every week to see what is next. You really hit it out of the park this week! Although ALL your tutorials are full of inspiration. Thank you for giving so much for us on youtube.
This is great!I just thought - wow - there were all those HSTs on a bear paw and here you make it easy. You are the best! Too many quilts - not enough time!! Adding to my project list- might have to push it up the list. Thank you for your great tutorials.
And THIS my friends... is exactly what I LOVE about Jenny and the MSQC:)))) This Winter has been "the year of quilting"... may just begin this one today!!! Papa, Mama or Baby??? Which one!!!! :))))) GB
This is one of my favorite patterns. I have loved this pattern since I was real little and have still yet to make one for myself. I will be making one for myself soon. angel hugs Debby
Jenny you are such a trip. I love your videos. You have been the one to teach me how to make beautiful quilts. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the Honey Creek quilt show in Iowa.
Really neat quilt. I made a bears paw years ago and took me forever. will do your way I have 2 other quilts in progress. and 2 more where I just need to sew them together.. all your patterns . thanks for what you do
Thank you for the tutorial. I only made one bear paw block years ago. I think I put the pieces together backward three times before I got it right. I have to try this. It looks so much easier.
Love this! And I realized it's the same shape as a maple leaf block except for the bottom corner. If you used the print for the strips and solid for the squares, then had a solid square in the corner you'd have a leaf!
I used this to make a memory quilt for a brother after Mom died: using fabric from her stash and two prints from her blouses. While imperfect it will be a lasting hug from her. Since it was scrappy, I didn't do the four block clusters, but made it 45 x 75 since he is VERY tall. Mom died on his birthday so it seemed just right.
Missouri Star Quilt Company My son's favorite color is red, so I was thinking a red variety jelly roll with white paws. Then I'd have to decide if I wanted red strips to connect the paws and for the border or go with a different color.
Now I want to do that one too!! Thank you Jenny for all your inspiration. I´ve just started quilting but I love it. Of course I bought a mat and a knife (or what you call it). It´s so much fun!!
Love it, Jenny....Of course, your 3 bear imitations make it cuter still! I'm picturing it done with scrappy paws and solid background too!! Can't wait to try it! Thanks for all you do!! (You must be so busy and keep us busy too!!)
Jenny, you're so darn cute!! I wouldn't have attempted such a block in a million years, but that method looks so achievable. Thank you again for another amazingly wonderful tutorial :)
Thanks Jenny I wait every week for your new tutorials I usually watch them on my phone at work while on lunch =) then watch them again at home on the PC. I am so glad you did this one I love the bear paw block and can not wait to try this!!!! you make the tutorials fun and so easy to understand thank you! We will be up to see you guys at some point after we get moved back to Oklahoma which will most likely be a while =(

We're so glad that you enjoyed it!

Loved your take on the momma and baby bear! I truly laughed out loud! So cute! Great quilts!
I love a good story and when quilts can be incorporated... oh game over, I'm there! :)
I love this block! I love you, Jenny! I love your amazing family and company! Thank you for your hard work and fantastic results!
What a fun, different way to make these. Also, sew the cut off triangles together for smaller HST's for another project.
We're so glad that you enjoyed the tutorial! :)
Loved the humor you put into showing the options for layouts of the quilt blocks. :-)
I'm so glad! :) Thanks for watching!
Love you Jenny! You give me courage to Make! Let's go for coffee and laugh!
I don't drink coffee but I do love to laugh! :)
Thank you so much for watching, Sherry Beuckelaere! I hope that you and Elizabeth have a fun time with this one! :)
I gave you a challenge Jenny and you came through like a trouper! I love the tumblingblocks (rumbus) quilt with out y seams? thank you for making it easy for me!💕💕💕💕💕

you are a genius ! I love the way your mind works. I have been trying to make this pattern with HSTs (UGH!) for my granddaughter's wedding quilt, but she wants the 'claws' to be contrast color. So I used your instructions and figured out how to make the claws. Thanks so much for simplifying this pattern!
Love the bear paw! Now it is so EASY!
I wait every week to see what you have come up with. This one is so great. You make me laugh. You are a joy to watch.

The 'Baby Bear' Version - as I love the star formation it makes. Maybe even applique a tiny something in the center of this 'star'! Each version is special though and I LOVED the reference to Papa, Mama and Baby Bear - this will stick with me whenever I sew a Bear Paw Block now.

Really neat quilt. I made a bears paw years ago and took me forever. will do your way I have 2 other quilts in progress. and 2 more where I just need to sew them together.. all your patterns . thanks for what you do
You'll be surprised at how fast this goes together! :) What other quilts are you working on and what fabrics are you using? :)
So much easier your way - thank you Jenny
We're so glad you enjoyed it! :)
Jenny, you are adorable. The Bear Claw Quilt looks like so much work - so many pieces. Great tutorial and MAYBE one day I will make it.
It really goes together so quick! :)
Love it! I love EVERYTHING you & your family share! Thank you🤗🥰🦩
Thank you for the tutorial. I only made one bear paw block years ago. I think I put the pieces together backward three times before I got it right. I have to try this. It looks so much easier.
You'll be amazed at how fast it goes together! :)
Oh Jenny. Your such a hoot! Thank you for another great video!
Thank you so much, Jennifer Ferrari!!
I cannot wait to take a road trip and come to Hamilton. I grew up around Mendon, live in Nixa, so come summer, will take a trip
We would love to have you! :) It's definitely worth the trip.
I love the way you teach... thanks Jenny!!
Jenny you are such an inspiration and so much fun to watch thank you you for all your tips
that's a really beautiful quilt--lovely fabrics and the scrappy border is perfect!
Love this! And I realized it's the same shape as a maple leaf block except for the bottom corner. If you used the print for the strips and solid for the squares, then had a solid square in the corner you'd have a leaf!
That would be such a fun alternative! :)
So beautiful! Love these lefty demo’s because I’m a lefty too!
I love this one. I have always wanted to make a bear paw quilt but was daunted. I'm going to try this one. Thanks!
What fabrics would you use? :)
Missouri Star Quilt Company My son's favorite color is red, so I was thinking a red variety jelly roll with white paws. Then I'd have to decide if I wanted red strips to connect the paws and for the border or go with a different color.
I love the way you make it so easy
I love you Jenny, you are AMAZING!!
You are too sweet! :)
Awh, I'm so glad!! :) Thanks for watching! Are you going to make this one?
