I learned doing this onto a 9x9 inch piece of muslin, standing at a treadle sewing machine, because if I sat I could not reach the pedal. Ethel, the woman who helped raise me after my father died & owned the machine, called it a crazy quilt. I did a quilt like that which I was proud to sleep under. Later I had the mumps & was home from school 6 weeks and I sat & hand sewed the piecing for a wedding ring quilt. Ethel finished it & gave it to me on my wedding day. The only quilt we had when we started our.
It is 10:30 pm and I don’t want to go bed. Because I want to make all these quilts. I like all three ideas. Boy, do I have crumbs. I spent the last few days organizing them into colors. So I am ready to go. I didn’t know what I was going to do all these scraps. Now I do. I had seen others make Crumb but they never appealed to me. Thanks so much from such fun tutorial. Who needs sleep when there is a quilt to make.
Need a thank you gift for my daughter in law. Will make a crumb piece quilt from scraps i used in the 3 baby quilts i made for my 3 grandsons. Thank you for the tips !
Question to be answered on a tutorial (hopefully). Does someone read all the comments, or are we only entertaining each other? I love the triple plays!!! Spending my Saturday night reviewing them all. Concluding that no one teaches a classic block better than Jenny. However, I am in awe of Natalie's and Misty's contemporary eye. Every quilt they have taught on this series is on my to-do list. I cannot get enough of their modern quilts...MORE PLEASE
Love this and all the crumb quilts!!!! I think i may crumb the 10" squares and then applique a solid orange peel onto it to switch it up 💕. Thanks as always
This is what I needed! I have been working on a complex quilt. I NEEDED a fun easy divergence. No rules and no quilt police. Thanks again for a great quilt idea.
This is perfect for my 10 year old! My boys love to quilt with me but my 10 year old loves to pull the tiny scraps out of the trash and sew stuff together. I’ll show him your quilt Jenny!
Exactly my idea, it is a perfect quilt technique for kids because you don’t have to be perfectly accurate, it’s just fun ! I will put my 9 year old on the task and I’m sure she’ll love it !
There was a lovely crumb quilt shown on the Block party last week made by a man with a really cool 3d effect your boys might like. the blocks were set with black shadows on a white background, if i remember correctly. this is the link ruclips.net/video/GJ_1kBStJho/видео.html start at 22.57
It makes my heart happy to see that lovely fabric wasn't wasted. Have yet to make one, but I'm gaining a lot of information about them in the mean time. Thanks for all of the educational videos you produce for all of us.
I'm totaly addicted to crumb piecing, I have over 200 10 inch squares. going to make a shadow quilt with 5 by 10 rectangles for my king size bed, my hubby is completely in awe of the blocks, thanks so much for all the inspiration
I've cut scraps into 1" strips and made miniature log cabin, 9 patch and rail fence blocks. I love crumb blocks... they are my no brainer - stay busy - waste not sewing.
No No No! Thats not trash. lol That goes into the stuffing for a dog or cat bed for the animal shelter. If you don't have enough crumbs for a quilt, a few squares make great hot pot pads etc. Crumb quilting is fun and keeps fabric out of the landfill. I know you are in the fabric selling business, but my Mom used to make these crumb quilts reversible. Crumbs on both sides.
Started rummaging through scraps when I was a young kid. I'm now a grandma! Loved scraps then & now. I made crumb quilts back in the 60s! Had to learn to make individual blocks cause one big block wouldn't lay flat. Mom showed me a down & dirty way to fix it...just cut it & keep stitching. It worked! Thank you ladies for showing us your take on crumb quilting. Natalie, love the green. Misty, yours is colorful. Jenny, your crumb is my favorite!
I want to share my crumb piece adventure, I made strips from my 3 huge industrial garbage bag of strips I have been hoarding 😊 and I cut my strips into large triangles, then in my excitement I realized I was wasting my fabric From the triangle edges I then started using the fabric from the triangle WOW I got such joy from that project.
I love how the same technique and even the same fabric can have a completely different look. It is fun to watch your different approaches to the same ideas. It gives me the confidence to be more experimental in my own quilts.
I love all your individual tutorials. My favorite, however, is Triple Play. How each of you come up with a new way of doing things. Unfortunately, my quilting sidekicks have
I love them all. I have made crumb quilts for babies and just love their fascination with the colors and patterns. I really love Misty's quick way to make strips into random patterns. Natalie, I love that whole thing, colors and design! You are all so clever. Huggles Always 💖✂️🪡🧵 🤟🌹🤗 🍀 🙏 🦓
Hi y’all I am a new sewer in quilting .I love watching Jenny and her friends.and you know what I don’t throw any garbage coming out from fabric, but I make pillows with them.so good to see you and goodbye.
Love this! My little granddaughter loves to play with my fabric. She is 3 and just goes crazy in my fabric. We bought her her own sewing machine and this is a great project for her little fingers…..
Oh my. I love crumb quilts and have made several. Quality fabric is too expensive to waste, and wonderful mindless piecing!🤗I want to give you three a hug. I appreciate all your hard work to give us these awesome inspiring videos. God bless.
I’ve just finished a quilt and I think I have enough to make Mistys as a baby quilt. I have just entered the crumb quilting phase of my journey so had been making squares like Jenny’s. Great to see other options. Natalie you have such a creative mind when it comes to design. My favourite trio. Thankyou ladies
I love this epusode of Triple Play. Jenny is really keeping the girls busy. Im Inspired to make some small crumb quilts for our humane society. They like 18x18" quilts for the kennels. . Thank you Doan family.
I love making crumb quilts. I've been quilting since 1992 so you can imagine how many scraps I have, so I started using my scraps after watching Darlene Michaud on RUclips. I now have 5 lap quilts! Great way to use up scraps and to always be sewing! I don't think I'll ever be done. I will be moving up to 10" instead of the 8" I've been making.
I’ve been interested in the modern movement of quilts so love, love, love Natalie’s. I’m also a long arm quilter and so excited to see Natalie chose a modern quilt design to finish it off. It really complimented the quilt instead of competed.
I always look forward to MSQC’s tutorials, but I particularly enjoy the Triple Play. I so enjoy seeing everyone’s personal creative approach to the “assignment.” 😄
I started quilting about 7 years ago, I made a couple of quilts and haven't quilted again till now. I finally finished binding my very first quilt. It has been sitting these past 7 years. I truly hate hand sewing. I am very impatient, that's why other quilts got made withoutout finishing that first one. When I first saw these "crazy" scrap quilts when I started quilting, I didn't quite understand the appeal. This video really shows you what can be done with your scraps. I appreciate the three ideas. I have been good at saving usable scrap pieces, so some day I can make a "crumbs" quilt, especially now that this tutorial showed me options. Thanks for another great tutorial. I really had fun watching the three of you work together on Jenny's scraps.😁
Oh My Goodness Jenny, Natalie and Misty, All three of these quilts are Fantastic! Now I want to make all three, man I have quite a list of sewing this year. Thank You Three for Sharing Your Beautiful Quilts, ❤️❤️❤️Chris
It is beautiful, I did mine as a souvenir of all the different projects that I made pandemic time. Like Mitsy I sew all my pieces together big or small and placed the ruler in random position to create the block.
I didn;t think I would ever like crumb quilting, but you guys made them looks beautiful and so full of inspiration, Thank you so much for this triple play! I LOVED IT!!!
I LOVE crumb piecing. I just make bunches of blocks, and then sew "something" when I get enough. I've made a LOT of bags and other container-type things. Lots of fun, Jenny, thank you.
Lots of fun watching all the mass confusion. Loved Misty’s quilt. It looked like 30s fabrics as it was hanging even though I know it wasn’t. Those are the fabrics that really speak to me. Just so adorable!
I made my first crumb quilt. I absolutely loved it!!!! The most fun I have had quilting by far and it’s fun all on its own. I can understand why Jenny says it’s addicting. Thanks ladies. I’m definitely going to have to make Natalie’s and Misty’s quilts as well. Love those designs!
I just started getting a few scraps, new quilter here! Thank you for the great tutorial, I am always so afraid to go of course and afraid to cut, you all gave me confidence that I can make a quilt that reminds me of my Great Grandmother. Thank you so much for being real!
Wow this was soooo fun to watch. 3 totally different quilts. You girls never disappoint when it comes to creativity. Such an inspiration to many! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us in to your world of crumb quilt visions. It was so eye opening to me. Have a wonderful weekend MSQC Crew. You’re simply the best hands down! 😊
WOW, Then Wow and then another Wow!!! Jenny’s did it for me. ❤️❤️❤️. Can’t say I was a fan of crumb quilting although I don’t throw any fabric away it I can make my own precuts of 1.5” squares. I absolutely love Jenny’s version of a crumb quilt. Thanks to all three for sharing your quilts and creativity with us.
I love crumb/scrap quilting; it’s so relaxing with no rules. I’m currently working on 6.5” crumb blocks I’m sewing in a log-cabin type of style. I’m ready to sash two sides and then join them together. It will be a quilt for camping, picnics, etc.
I really love seeing three different takes on the same theme. It’s so fun seeing how each of you ends up with a very different quilt. You are all so creative and inspiring! ❤️
I love that you provided other options for crumb quilts! While I appreciate that it works for many people, I find the traditional crumb just too busy. Love this video!
You three never disappoint! Such fabulous ideas! I took up quilting to make wedding quilts for all of my family and friends. This year, my son is getting married (YAY!) and I wanted to make him a medallion style quilt, but really did not have any idea on how to do it. Misty's quilt gave me the inspiration I needed and I drew out his quilt pattern. Thank You so Very Much for turning on the lightbulb inside my head!!
Gals you did it again! I'm not really a scrappy quilt kind of gal but Missy and Natalie's quilts did hit it out of the park. I can also appreciate the effortless stitching of Jenny's blocks. Way to go ladies! Thanks for all your inspiration!
I'm always excited to see the Triple Play each week. You all are so creative! I have been saving scraps for years but I discovered crumb piecing while recovering from covid last year. It is so relaxing to me. No rules, no stress, and no wasting! And I always learn something from MSQC! Thank you for all you do!
I am working on a crumb quilt but mine are little teeny tiny pieces. I loved watching this tutorial where I can increase the size of my crumbs and it won’t take me forever to come up with a block. Thank you so much for this great tutorial!
I so completely agree that crumb quilts make your heart so happy 13'31. I love mine so much. It has pieces from all the quilts and other gifts I have made, but its the memories of the gifts. I get the same feeling looking at a rainbow
I love crumb quilting and the three quilts you've done are just adorable ♥️ Triple Play is definitely one of my favorite shows currently 🤩 Regards from Germany Stephanie
I love the trip down memory lane aspect of doing crumb and crazy quilts! I just started a Terry Rowland Colorwash quilt and it is so fun. If you don’t know who she is she has a RUclips channel as well. She’s delightful.
I held my breath watching this as this is exactly how my Grandmother would quilt. She used pieces from old clothes or sometimes she would just send me to the five and dime to pick up cheap fabrics and spend the day cutting things into strips. How fun to watch this and realize that now I can do this too. Thank you so much for all the ideas, and I loved the orange peel tip. I never thought how to do applique so easy. Thanks thanks
Love all of your quilts! I’m going to make 20” squares too! Natalie your dark gray showed more like a dark eggplant purple in my screen and it looked great. All the colors look amazing! Thanks for another great show!❤️
I have found that if you want to make the blocks cohesive, you can add either turquoise or red. These colors would also look fabulous as sashing. I used to belong to a quilt group where we did a lot of block exchanges and those colors tied all the blocks together. I love love love the concept of no waste! Thanks guys!
many thanks, I have to be honest, as a new quilter/sewer. I never gave thought to keeping my crumbs. However, after seeing this video, I think back to all those crumbs that I threw away 😒😒! I will be starting a bin just for crumbs. Many thanks, always come away with some wonderful ideas.
I love your quilt. I am currently doing my scraps/crumbs. Loving every minute. I am not being fussy. No rhyme or reason. Its great to see my dollars being saved LOL.
I loved all of these quilts, Jenny yours is so cute and scrappy, while I can see Natalie’s design perfect for my grandson grays, black, white and red! And Misty yours for My Victorian Bed! Love all the beautiful ideas and can’t wait to get started! Thanks ladies you guys are so creative and fun to watch!
I just love crumbs, Jenny did a crumb video years ago and I make them daily! And this was awesome follow up to what I can do with all my crumb blocks thank you ladies!!
What a fun way to introduce kiddos to sewing, cutting and ironing! Also thought of people who used to sew that are now much older, but can still piece without being concerned about following a pattern-perfect for nursing homes!
New to sewing quilts. Experimenting stage with different styles. This video was great in explaining crumb piecing quilts. Honestly Crumb quilts are the reason why I want to quilt. They are so heart warming. Remind me of my mom in the kitchen when I was young. Making quilts to keep us warm in the winter months. So it was special to see you working with your girls. Thank you.
I loved all these, but especially Natalie's. I have to say my thought when you first said crumb quilt was the Sonoran Star that Misty did, but with crumb HST's and solid background. Would feel like Natalie's big block.
Great ideas, ladies. It was great to see what you came up with for the crumb quilting. Jenny’s looked great with just the true crumbs. Misty’s and Natalie’s did not even look like the same fabric line. Natalie’s looked like a more modern quilt and her hair was so cute with the curls! Misty’s was a really cute orange peel design that did not even look like she used strips. Thanks for the great video and inspiration.
Thank you Jenny, I didn't know what the measurement's were for a fat quarter. (18x20 inch.) That's what I love about you all,you understand that some of us are beginners. Great instructions, & supply,& preparation information thanks ladies. From one Jenny to another, your great Jenny.
i love crumb quilts! i like to sort my crumbs into color bags, which are just ziplocks full of one color, like orange or blue or green... when the bag is full i sit down and sew them all together! i also like to make stained glass blocks as shown by samantha krebsbachhuber on here, very fun and makes beautiful blocks! i like it best with my bigger crumbs but anything works really
My greatgrama...she made a quilt like this one but by hand...she teach us how to sew
What a heartwarming tale! :)

Love this story!
I love Natalie and Misty's confusion!!!
This was fun seeing you guys work on Jenny's crumb quilt in such a "free" manner-LOL
Loved seeing Natalie and Misty trying to interpret Jenny’s creative genius.
I thought that too! Crumb piecing is better done alone!! 😁
😂
I would love to do this together with a friend. Can you imagine the giggling as you try to "help" each other?!

Nice gift !
Love your triple play. I think I need to live another 50 years to accomplish all these beautiful projects. Thank you for the inspiring projects.
I always enjoy Natalie's modern take.

Fully expected a template pattern but you’re doing a real crumb demo. This is m favorite way to quilt with my brain refusing to repeat. Love it.
Love this and all the crumb quilts!!!! I think i may crumb the 10" squares and then applique a solid orange peel onto it to switch it up 💕. Thanks as always
I was thinking the same thing... like a negative... Crumb and then a solid orange peel. Love these quilts.
Misty's quilt is beautiful !!
hahaha - I just love you're cutting-n-ironing fairies - how they have all the 'side bar' chatter ... just like real life!!
This is what I needed! I have been working on a complex quilt. I NEEDED a fun easy divergence. No rules and no quilt police. Thanks again for a great quilt idea.
Hi Debra, how are you doing?

I love crumb quilting and the three quilts you've done are just adorable ♥️ Triple Play is definitely one of my favorite shows currently 🤩 Regards from Germany Stephanie
I love the trip down memory lane aspect of doing crumb and crazy quilts! I just started a Terry Rowland Colorwash quilt and it is so fun. If you don’t know who she is she has a RUclips channel as well. She’s delightful.
I love all three of your quilts. It’s so much fun learning new ways to make quilts. You three are magic together! Thank you!
Thanks for another great show!❤️
me too! i loved the color and does look like eggplant. I have to listen again only heard her say dark gray not sure who's line it is from
I thought so too. It is lovely. They all look like fun.
I wish there was a love and laugh button for this video!! 🤣🤣❤️❤️ I really enjoy doing crumb piecing!!
Another great Triple Play. Each one was beautiful! Thanks ladies for all you do.
This has got to be one of my favorite triple plays. You all are amazing❤❤❤😊❤😊❤❤❤
Yahoo! Let the games begin! Such great inspiration, you've got our quilters' imaginations spinning! Love the Triple Plays!
I soooo enjoy triple play, you girls are so much fun! Such good ideas you give all of us, please keep doing triple play!
What a fun way to introduce kiddos to sewing, cutting and ironing! Also thought of people who used to sew that are now much older, but can still piece without being concerned about following a pattern-perfect for nursing homes!
This was so well done...Yay for crumbs and great teachers! Linda
I just love watching all of you making the new crumb-piecing quilt. Amazing
Love triple play😊 And crumb blocks, bonus ! 🥰🇦🇺
Oh, no - another crumb quilt idea!😁
Agreed but thought Jenny talked over her a lot while she was explaining her block
Love these quilts, thank you! Love you girls together, so much fun.
I love rewatching this video when I’m sitting at my desk at work wishing I was in my sewing room! Crumb quilting is so relaxing.
