  • Welcome back to the channel
    In this weeks video I show you how to replace a complete strut assembly on a 2002 Honda CRV all-wheel-drive. The reason I replaced the complete assembly was because we had two things that were wrong with the one side that I show you in the video. You will see in the video a grimy oily looking sort of substance on the shock, that is because the shock is leaking. Right in the beginning of the video you will hear the reason why we are primarily replacing it, it is because of the annoying irking sound that is coming from the strut mount. Basically it makes this sound any time you go over a bump which of course will drive you crazy. So hopefully if you're having the same issue my video helps you out. Of course if it does please subscribe to the channel to support my work. Thank you in advance.
    As always thanks for watching and we will see you in the next one...

    I refuse to get rid of my CR-V (I have an irrational love for it plus an ungodly amount of money put into the antisocial stickers on it😁) and your videos have me both dying laughing and being able to keep it running after 205,000+ miles! Greatly appreciated!

      Thanks so much for the comment Tamara. I'm glad I could be of help. They are definitely a great vehicle and I say as long as it's not rusted out oh, keep it going :-) .

    Gave the video a thumbs up. But Monroe/Gabriel strut assemblies are cheap, but there's a reason for it. Cheap struts and crappy springs. Keep the original springs where possible and use KYB, Bilstein, Koni or another quality brand. Monroe is a waste of money and labor....good luck

      I don't necessarily disagree with you. However when running a shop it depends on what the customer can afford and what they're comfortable with spending. Also being up in Canada we don't have many aftermarket suppliers who have those brand names it's mainly just KYB or Monroe.

      @@JimmysAutoClinic understood, makes sense. the previous owner had the monroe quick struts replaced 40k miles ago in my CRV. when I bought it from him the struts were completely shot. My experience with kyb is they last 70k miles and Bilstein lasts 100k miles. Better to pay for the labor less often. This morning I replaced the tensioner pulley bearing for the serpentine belt. the difference between the cost of a cheap junk bearing and a quality bearing is not much. But had I brought it to the mechanic, labor cost would have been significant. Keep up the good work!

    Made it almost 9 min in. Great work. What quick struts do you recommend for front end?

    • @JimmysAutoClinic
      @JimmysAutoClinic  2 года назад +1

      The Monroe quick strut is the most popular in my area. So far I haven't really had any issues with them. So I wouldn't be opposed to recommending them. But sometimes for different makes they're not the best. So definitely look up the reviews. If you're getting them for this particular car we didn't have any complaints from the customer.

    @3:13 (tie rod nut area) is that open air space missing a plastic shroud for the engine bay 🤔

      No, there is no missing plastic that I know of. It is a pretty big hole though.

    I have more of a clunking sound, could that be my front upper strut mount? The rubber near the center bolt seems broken/severed.

    • @JimmysAutoClinic
      @JimmysAutoClinic  Год назад +1

      Hi Erik, if you have a visible damage to the strut mount then that's probably what your noise is coming from. Unfortunately without me hearing it I can't be certain. The other unfortunate thing is that there are a lot of potential noises on that particular honda. I would say the best thing to do is to of course check everything that you can and of course replace whatever is worn or damaged.

      Hey, unfortunately the vehicle in the video was written off a few months after filming it. Until then there were no complaints were issues in regards to the shocks. I have use the same shocks and brand of shocks on other vehicles and generally they last anywhere from 3 to 7 years depending upon the conditions that they are exposed to and of course the mileage. They were Monroe. Hopefully that helps don't forget to hit that subscribe button.

      Yes I would suggest doing an alignment afterwards. Especially if it is not the same as it was before. The sooner the better.
