    I have a 2004 Elgrand 3.5 ltr 2wd and replaced the strut, springs, strut mounts etc in a day and a half with my son. Buy an electric impact wrench and a good breaker bar and jobs good. Do it right the first time and change it all.

    Why replace just the strut mount when it is more cost effective to replace the entire strut assembly when factoring in the cost of parts and labor to install.

      @@oneviwatara9384 Ok so really I was talking about mount and bearing. Toyota Strut Bearing 90903-63014 $48 - Toyota Front strut mount 48609-0E020 $100 = $150 aprox - Toyota Absorber 48520-80223 = $155 -OK so almost as much - I would NOT say that's way cheaper unless you're getting some off brand shite.

    Clunk
    Vibration
    Rattles and squeaks
    Tyre wear
    Poor handling
    Other suspension part wear
    That could be any part of the steering and suspension set up.
    Just open the hood, grab the spring and observe the mount as you wiggle it. If theres movement, youve got a worn mount.

    Well I have a clunking noise on the Front Right side my Coilovers cost $1,800 so I'll need at least 2 grand to get new Coilovers my steering shaft also has excessive play in the steering wheel. I just recently replaced my Front Right CV alxe and Front Right wheel bearing, I still need to replace the Front Left side wheel bearing and steering shaft plus an O2 Sensor and a tune up water pump, belt, fuel filter, Spark plugs and coils time to start saving a lot of money and forget about buying Aftermarket car parts for a long time.

      in my experience, once cars get to about 10 years old, old the problems begin and eventually you end up replacing everything. might as well do as much as you can depending on costs while you have everything apart.

    I had creaking turning the steering wheel while the car was moving, not stationary. Just paid for new strut mounts to be put in and now creaking when driving and stationary. Is this normal? Does it take time for the creaking to die down?

    • @TRUMPUSA1
      @TRUMPUSA1 7 месяцев назад

      That is NOT normal. I just replaced one strut mount myself bcuz it was making a clunking noise when I turned the wheel while moving. Found that on both sides under the hood the top center nuts were also loose on the strut piston so I tightened them down. My car rides much better now. The new strut mount tightened up the suspension. My struts and coil springs were still good so I did not replace them. Sometimes new struts, especially cheaper ones will make your car actually ride rougher and also possibly make your car sit too high. Not saying BUT, mechanics will rip ppl off most anytime they can.
      I would take your car elsewhere and get a second opinion.

    I just replaced myself, they cost extremely cheap from auto parts shop, the cost is overpriced and exaggerated by the garages. Is a 10 min work for a experienced mechanic and they charge you more that a £100, is just a ridiculous amount of money, and you need to replace them both the same like your spring coils if one is broken. The cost will be insane.
    Another mad price is on transmission fix 😂 a ford galaxy rebuilding transmission cost around £3000, but the parts cost you around 800 from ford and 400 from eBay brand new good quality both. The garage will charge you £1000 and the mechanic work 800 plus VAT 😂😂😂😂 insane just insane.
    Guys looks hard but is not, took me 2 days to fix my transmission I started from zero only youtube tutorials and information from Google. 😂
    I took the transmission out, i replace everything 😂😂😂 I put everything back how was, and the car is like new. 😊 Save yourself from being scammed, you all work hard for you salary every month and you paying a garage a yeasy money. Don't be scared the car will not bite. 😊 Good luck and stay safe. Buy all safe equipment and tools to make sure you are safe and well equipped to start this big job. 😊

    Help! If someone is kind enough to do so. 57k miles on the car, it’s had lowering springs on it throughout most of that, I hit a bump seriously hard a couple months ago, car drove horrible after, really jiggly, felt like play somewhere, car went into garage, it had 2 control arms, 2 lower ball joint arms, and one of the struts was bent (serious bump) so a new strut, however the car still had this jiggly feeling! So I decided to get £1100 bilstein coilovers to see if that would sort it, it hasn’t, I can’t think of anything else other than the strut top mounts, could that cause a poor ride quality!? Is it possible that the bump had damaged them!?

    • @NafanyaZX
      @NafanyaZX 8 месяцев назад

      Very important! After suspension work an alignment is in order. If there was enough force to bend the strut, have the rim inspected. It may look round, but be wobbly, when spinning. Also, look for a better shop. It's ridiculous they didn't fix the issue, nor tell you what I'm telling you. Can't tell you whether your strut mount is damaged, because that requires an inspection. However, the most convenient time to inspect and also the cheapest time to change the strut mount, was when it came out with the old strut. Now you'd have to pay for the same work to be done again. Anyway, an additional component that could have been damaged is the wheel bearing. All suspension components (includes wheels and tyres) have to be properly sorted, before visiting an alignment shop.
